“Don’t forget, you’re now Iris Silver and you have been raised in wealth your entire life, do not for any reason reveal anything about your life to him, and remember everything I’ve taught you,” Paul said as we pulled up in front of a beach house. The last two days, I had been taught everything about Iris Silver and trained to dress and act exactly like her. The emerald green dress clung to my body and I looked so much different than before, like a true heiress that there were no traces left of the girl I once was. Everything, down to my cell phone had been wiped clean and I now had a new identity. “You’re Iris Silver and you must embody her through and through, one little mistake and everything goes sideways, do you understand?” Paul asked as he led me into the beach house and I nodded. He was intentionally holding back the details of what was going on. When I asked what was happening, he simply replied that I was aware of what I needed to know and not aware of what I didn’t need to know. Two of his bodyguards led the way and as soon as we walked in, I noticed the shift in the atmosphere. Armed men dressed in black suits filled every corner of the luxurious beach house and in the captivating living room that had a view of the beach, sat a man dressed casually with his mop of gorgeous dark hair perfectly messy, as if he’d just rolled out of bed, adding a touch rugged charm to his chiseled features. He was casually strolling through his phone but somehow that random thing looked captivating, he rose to his feet the moment he saw us and that was when I got a good look at him. He stood at an impressive 6’3, his imposing frame commanding attention and his sharp grey eyes cold and dark, framed with thick lashes that added to his allure. The tattoo of a snake covered his entire neck and the sight of his moderate muscles flexing underneath his rolled-up sleeves made me gulp out of anxiety. “Took you long enough,” he said with a gruff tone as he grabbed a bunch of papers beside him on the table and tossed them at Paul. “I had to leave a meeting for this so let’s make it snappy.” I noticed Paul was just as nervous as I was even though he was trying to hide it. He slowly picked up the papers and the tension in the air as Paul’s men held on tightly to their weapons became very obvious. “We have kept our end of the deal Alejandro, it’s up to you now,” Paul replied and he took a step back, slowly beginning to make his way towards the exit. So he was Alejandro, the man Iris was supposed to marry. He was good looking but one good look at his cold and hard appearance and one would realize why Iris went missing, she must have refused to end up with a man like him. From the pictures I saw of her, she looked like a princess, like a young lady who was cheerful and full of life. Someone like that wouldn’t want to end up with a man like the one in front of me so there was a high chance that she had run away. “Take her to the car.” Alejandro signaled to one of his men and that made my heart skip a beat. I immediately glanced back at Paul and took a step back, “Wait a minute, is that all? What about the wedding? What about…” I was panicking and suddenly rethinking the whole deal I made with them. The hospital had called last night to inform me that Mom’s hospital bill had been sorted out by a generous donor and she had been upgraded to the VIP ward, I was happy they kept their word but somehow worried about the whole thing. A diabolical laughter erupted from Alejandro as he stared at me with some sort of look in his eyes, “Were you expecting a ball thrown in your honor?” He said with a mocking tone, “Was the princess not informed of our arrangement?” He smirked and a chill raced down my spine as I held his eyes. Something about the man wasn’t right and I could feel it. “I’ll take my leave now,” Paul spoke up, almost at the exit door with his men when Alejandro suddenly raised his hand sharply, “Wait.” He declared, authoritatively and Paul and his men stopped dead in their tracks. “Something isn’t right…” he added as he stared right at me. Sweat broke out all over my forehead, soaking up the make-up on my face and my legs trembled underneath me as if it was about to give way. Did he see through my act? Does he know I am not Iris? My heart was now slamming against my chest and I could also see it on his face, Paul was losing it just as much as I was. If someone like him was scared of Alejandro, then… Swiftly, Alejandro pulled out a gun and uncocked the safety. My heart almost ripped right out of my chest and my breath immediately got stuck in my throat. Oh My God! That was a real gun! A real gun! I could barely breathe, I had never seen a gun before and at that moment, I regretted agreeing to the deal. I knew I never should have agreed to it. “Alejandro, please, don’t act rashly. Both our families need this…” Paul began, talking softly to pacify Alejandro but it didn’t look like it was working because before he could complete his sentence, the gun went off and there was practically little or no sound at all before I heard two loud thuds, like something heavy had hit the ground. My entire body trembled and I was covered in sweat like I had just been submerged in water. With my eyes widening in fear and shock, I slowly glanced down at my stomach to see if I was the one that had been shot because I could barely feel a thing, I couldn’t even feel my own body, nor could I breathe. My hands trembled as I touched my stomach and sighed heavily in relief when I felt nothing. Sharply, I turned around and let out a piercing scream when I saw Paul’s two guards lying on the floor, soaked in their own bright, red blood. Paul remained unmoved, staring directly at Alejandro. “Did you think that you could walk in here, into my territory, with your men, armed men for that matter and I would let them walk out of here alive?” He paused and chuckled maniacally as he gesticulated with the gun. “Rules are rules Paul, doesn’t matter the occasion.” He added before he turned to face me. I could barely say a single word, my eyes were glued to the dead bodies on the ground and the way two of Alejandro’s men dragged the bodies out. The whole thing was horrifying, I had never seen anything like it before. Without another word, Paul walked out, leaving me alone with a monster that had just killed two people right in front of a woman who was supposed to be his bride. What kind of a man was Alejandro? Now, it made sense that Iris would run away. The whole thing got me worried, if she ran away then would her parents ever be able to find her so she could return to her role as his wife? Would I be stuck here with him? “Let’s go.” His sharp, cold voice pierced my thoughts and I was forced to look at him again even though I could never meet his eyes again. “What’s wrong? Never seen a dead body before?” He laughed, mocking me with his eyes and tone, “Don’t act like the money you were raised with wasn’t made from the blood of countless people.” He hissed as he walked right past me and headed outside. What was talking about? Who were these people? I remained rooted to my spot until one of his men shoved me forward lightly. As soon as we stepped out, an expensive fleet of cars pulled up in front of us and I was led into the one in the middle that Alejandro was in. I was confused, I thought the beach house was his house so where was he taking me? Twenty minutes into the tensed, silent ride, he pulled out a piece of cloth and inched closer to me. Startled, I jumped back but I couldn’t move far away from him because there was nowhere for me to run to, my back was already pressed against the door. Roughly, he wrapped the piece of cloth around my eyes, like a blindfold and it was so tight that I could barely see anything. I was so scared that I could barely keep calm. “For years, no one has ever figured out where I live. The beach house was just a front to pick you up and even though we’re married, you’re still a Silver, I do not and will never trust you so if you’re ever going to survive living with me then know that from here on out, all connections with your family will be cut off.” His tone was firm and harsh, giving no room for further arguments. But this was not part of the agreement, Paul never mentioned that I would not be able to communicate with them. What about my mother? Was I really on my own now? With a man I had no clue about, a man that just shot two men, what have you gotten yourself into Ivy Andrew? A replacement bride to a man I was certain was nothing more than a beast.IVY My heart felt heavy. I was struggling to breathe because of the thick tension in the car. He hadn’t glanced my way since we entered the car and I dared not glance back not after what I had seen earlier. He killed those men in front of me like it was nothing. I didn’t fail to notice the satisfied look in his eyes. I’ve never seen anyone so comfortable killing nor have I ever witnessed seeing anyone being killed. He hasn’t said a word to me and while I preferred it that way, I was heavily disturbed. After what felt like forever, the car came to a stop. I hadn’t realized because I had slowly zoned out, thinking about my life. My blindfold were removed as he made sure i was blindfolded as the car began to drive. i ooked outside to see where it was that I was. It was a mansion. Before I could comprehend further, Alejandro was standing outside of the car. He opened the door and in a stern tone he said, “Get out.” Without hesitation, I got out of the car, my hands shaky a little
NOTE: DUO POV IVY “The Black serpent?” I uttered the name that sounded so familiar. I have heard it before but I couldn’t recall where and why the name made me shiver. “I didn’t say anything to you. Please save me by refraining from doing anything that would cost my life,” she said pleadingly and I could tell from her tone that she was scared. She didn’t see as bad as I thought she would. Could that be why she asked the other maid to leave? Could she be here against her wish? “He…” She cuts me off. “It would do you more good than harm if you do as told. At the end of the day, the Silver family is nowhere as powerful as the Leone family.” With that said, the maid left the room leaving me alone. I crumbled on the floor in fear. “What have… I don’t to deserve it?” If they had told me this was how it was going to be then I would have refused it no matter how desperate I was for the money. This life I had chosen was worse than hell, I didn’t need to stay in here for more
IVY "My life is hell!" That wouldn't be the right way to describe it because it was worse than hell. Two weeks in this mansion without seeing the outside world. Two weeks of feeling suffocated and wanting to die. Two weeks of not doing anything I want to do and being treated like a puppet. After I was finished crying, I sat on the bed while hugging my knees. I was close to losing my sanity. I hopped off the bed in need to take a stroll even around the mansion to be sane because I was close to losing it. As soon as I came out of the room, the guards standing outside of my room stared at me with a questioning facial expression. "You can come alone. I just want to stretch my leg," I said to them. One of them nodded their head in denial. "I'm not running away, I just need to stretch my legs. I've been indoors all day," I pleaded before taking the bold step to walk away. The men followed from behind me. The closer I got to the stairs, the more I heard noises. I wondered
IVY “What do you mean by you want to help him? What do you think this is?” The man questioned, a scowl masked on his face. “I… I can help him,” I said to him once again, my eyes fixated on Alejandro’s bleeding arms. “He will die if something isn’t done to his arms and I don’t know how long it will take for help to come,” I added, boldly looking into the eyes of the man who was holding Alejandro. “If you make any mistake or do anything stupid, I promise that I will kill you myself so now I need you to tell me if you are certain that you can do something to stop the bleeding?” He questioned sternly. I gulped the lump in my throat before answering, “I can.” He stared at me for some seconds as if contemplating if he should give me the chance or not. “Alright, follow me.” He said before placing Alejandro on the couch for me to attend to him. Judging from the look of the injury, it was evident he got shot. “Do you have any medical equipment? Like anything I can use?” “E
ALEJANDRO I struggled to get out of the pressing and suffocating state that I was in because someone was pressing me inside the water so that I wouldn’t be able to escape and eventually die. I tried to swim, to move my body, to bring my face to the surface so I could breathe but I was unable to. He was far stronger than I am but that was expected for an eleven-year-old boy. I have never been so scared of water. I couldn't open my mouth to scream or I might end up swallowing some water, getting choked by it, and end up passing out. I couldn’t breathe. Could this be the end? I was slowly losing consciousness. My heart was hammering in my chest as fear gripped me of the sad reality that was about to kick in. Slowly my eyes blurred. I didn’t want to die. I was only eleven and I didn’t deserve to die. “Someone… save me..” those were my last words before I succumbed to darkness. I woke up panting in fear with sweats on my forehead. I heaved a sigh of relief when I realized
ALEJANDRO “I want every detail about Salmon brought before me as soon as possible and I don’t care how you do it but I need it. I will make it pay!” I stated firmly to my men all gathered in our meeting room. “They will pay for whatever they did and this injury on my arms is witness to what I will do to them.” “I was able to find their hideout but there’s something more shocking,” Enzo said, piquing my curiosity. “What is it?” I questioned. “Salmon seems to be working with some of our ex-client and that’s not all. He has some business with Black and Black works with the Silvers,” he revealed. “What?” I was surprised to hear that. “I don’t know if the Silvers know of Black's involvement with Salmon because they haven’t been in touch with him and they seem to be working with someone else judging from what I have discovered,” he explained. I bit my inner cheek. The story doesn’t add up though. Salmon had a business with Black and Black had business with the Silvers which means
THIRD PERSON POV As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an amber glow over the clearing, the sound of thundering rooters grew louder. The helicopter, a sleek black beast with gleaming silver blades, sliced through the air creating a whirlwind of dust and leaves below. Written on the helicopter was the name “Silver.” Indicating that it was theirs. The helicopter landed on the vast empty field behind the Silvers mansion, Paul Silver waited at a distance. Mr and Mrs silver came out of the mansion and headed towards the field to welcome their daughter, the real Iris Silver. Iris Silver stepped out of the helicopter with a dark-haired man by herself, holding her hand and guiding her step. The man was about six feet four tall with big muscles and beards all over his face. On his arms were tattoos. Iris Silver was dressed in a yellow sun dress that was perfect to cover the condition that she was in with her hair packed in a loose bun. “Uncle Paul,” Iris said when she came
IVY I opened my eyes to see myself at the edge of the bed, close to falling off the bed. I’ve been sleeping the whole day because I barely slept last night. I looked at the alarm clock on my nightstand to realize it was close to midnight. Feeling a little hot although the air conditioner was on, I left the bed to take a quick shower. I came out of the bathroom with a towel firmly wrapped around my chest to see Alejandro in my room. My eyes widened in surprise as I wasn’t expecting him in my room. What was I expecting anyway? This is his mansion and he can go to any room in wants. I quickly used my arms to cover myself although I was doing the job poorly. He was staring at me and he wasn’t hiding it. There was something about his presence that incited fear and danger inside of me. But I expected that to happen not after the first time I met him, he killed people like they were animals in front of me yet I saved him when he was on the verge of dying. I grappled with conflicti
IVY POV“You look beautiful dear.” Sylvia complimented from behind me as I stood in front of the big standing mirror in front of me.“Thank you,” I replied with a smile on my face, admiring myself too. The dress came in two days ago. Alejandro sent one of the maids to go get the dress for me for the charity event we’d both be attending today.Things have been going smoothly between the both of us lately. It’s like he’s back to being the same person I feel for. I didn’t question it, I simply went along with it, reminding myself that he wasn’t an ordinary man so feelings like that weren’t something he dealt with.He would come over to my room, we’d talk, and sometimes watch films together, mostly my preference which was surprising because we’d never watched a film together before. He would watch and most times, he was staring at me and not watching. Whenever I asked him why he wasn’t watching, he'd tell me that he preferred watching me.We would kiss every night before he left. Every n
ALEJANDRO LEONE POV It's been a week and I got nothing so I concluded that I might have gotten it wrong. Iris does have feelings for me. I've come to accept it but what I haven't come to accept was what I felt for her and what I planned on doing with it.I didn't expect her to confess to me that night after dinner. I never would have thought that she was crushing on me before we even met. So just as I did my research on her, she also did hers and ended up crushing hard. For some reason, I have been thinking about that for a while and each time I did, a smile would form on my face, which was rare and funny because it wasn't me. I've been away on a business trip. I received an anonymous text that my uncle Marcos was planning to do shit to me and I've been trying to trail his track and to see what he's up to.So far I've been able to learn that he has visited the Silver family twice. I had no idea why but I've been looking into it. I never trusted the Silverd and when I finally allowed
THIRD PERSON POV"What do you mean by that? You mean the heartless Alejandro has a heart and is interested in my look-alike?" Iris was surprised to hear the news that her mother just told her about. "I cannot believe this. Are you sure about this mom?" Iris asked."I'm not stupid when I see a man that is interested in a woman. Maybe it might be an act but he acted so well that I doubt it. I feel something is going on that we don't know and that girl, I don't trust her. I've never liked her away." Iris thought deeply about her mom's words. She still found it hard to believe after her mom told them all that went down at Alejandro's mansion."If she's keeping anything then she'd be the one to lose because she has her mother with us so I doubt, maybe nothing is going on and it's all an act from him after all…" she trailed off when she thought of something."Oh my goodness!""What is it, Iris?" Carmen asked her daughter inquisitively. "I told you I met Brittany some weeks back.""And
THIRD PERSON POVAlejandro's frantic action didn't go unnoticed by the Silvers after Ivy cut herself and he was already tending to her cut with so much interest.Ivy herself wasn't expecting him to act up so quickly and that made her more worried than she already was because she already told Carmen Silver there was nothing much going on between them when there was something although it wasn't defined and was unstable."You should have been careful," Alejandro whispered to her.He also didn't think that he would have jumped off his seat that quickly after she cut herself just to see how it was. It was only later he realized what he had done, acting without thinking once again because of Iris Silver."Come with me," he said.He wanted to go tend to her wound so that it didn't get infected. She wished he hadn't done so because she didn't fail to notice the looks on the face of the Silver and she wondered if he did too.He did notice it and that's why he hated that he had shown signs that
IVY"Dinner?" I was surprised to hear Al mention dinner with Iris's parents. What was the sudden need to meet them and have dinner with them? I thought to myself and then I thought of how it would give me the perfect opportunity to ask Paul Silver about my mom. "Yes. It's just we are married and it feels like both families don't get along that's why. I just want us to spend time with each other that's just it. I'm also sure you missed them too, don't you?" I forced a smile to my face. "You are right.""Alright then. I'm going to leave you now. I have some business to attend. I will call your parents to inform them so that they know the invite is from me. Have a nice day." He caressed my cheek and just as I was about to lean into his touch, he pulled away. I suddenly missed his touch and I haven't failed to notice the distance between us. He's always having something to do. At first, I thought that it was because he's business but lately, I'm starting to doubt that. I'm beginning
THIRD PERSON POV"I knew he was sneaky but I didn't know that he would do that openly and we'd be too blind to see it." Lorenzo Silver said to his brother who had just informed them of the snake amongst them."He will regret ever thinking he could trespass us. He wouldn't have had the chance if Iris was smart enough with her love life and worse she got herself pregnant with his baby," Lorenzo complained bitterly. Now that he knew that Marcos was the snake, he was angry because not only did he have to get rid of him but also the father of his soon-to-be grandchild."We will have to make sure he regrets this. We must get rid of him. We cannot keep him. That's why he chose to help because he was the one who had stolen from us but the question now is how did he come to bear on our conversation? It's not possible he overheard us when the door is always locked and it's soundproof." Paul Silver asked."That's it. He couldn't have been in the room at that time because the key to the room is w
IVY"You have every right to hate me you know. I won't hold that against you. I'm not just going to act like I'm some good guy and you know that.""What do you mean?" I asked.I already knew that he wasn't a good guy. He's a mafia which means he cannot be the ordinary man that I'm used to. Could that be why some days he's good and some days he's bad to me? Because he's not used to such emotions? Seeing how he always came back after hurting me made me feel like I wasn't trying to see beyond what he usually showed me and I felt a little guilty. He's not used to such and it's new to me too. He came back last night and had taken care of me. Maybe I could make things get better. So far he has been the only one trying to put so much effort so I wouldn't give up on him. "I didn't mean to hurt…."When you feel that way, it's better you speak to me than walk out on me and also when you feel that way, it's okay to keep quiet and not hurt me. I was hurt. You called me names and it's more hurtf
ALEJANDRO"Fuck!" I punched the bag in front of me with so much anger. Why was I affected by the way I saw her and the words I said to her? Why did it bother me so much? Until I discover everything that she has in her sleeves, I didn't want to associate with her. I wanted nothing to do with her and I thought I'd be able to handle it until I saw the look on her face and how hurt she was.She has fallen for me. This was perfect, just as I've wanted it and I should be able to use that against her but somehow my head was going crazy and I just couldn't help.I kept punching the bag hand, putting all of my frustration on it."Fuck! Fuck!" I cursed out as I recalled the look in her eyes and how heartbroken she was.I should have used it to my advantage. Getting her to reveal all of her family secrets, take them down, and break her heart, would have been better but somehow I just couldn't.The fact that there was evidence that she might be dangerous made me so bothered. I couldn't let my gua
IVY"Did he seriously do that?" Maggie asked.I've been in her room all day. I was unable to sleep last night. My heart was shattered and broken when Al left me in my room after I thought we were going to make love.Maggie knows of my feelings for Al. I kept her informed on a few but not every detail so she knew that I liked him. I cried all through the night, feeling like my heart had been ripped out of my chest. It was heartbreaking. I expected him to come back to my room, to tell me that it was fine but he never did.The next day came faster than I expected and still unable to get rid of the heavy feeling I had in my chest, I took my heart and came over to Maggie's wanting a shoulder to cry on. Sylvia was on a week's leave.I was now to sleep for some hours over at Maggie's and when I woke up, she gave me some porridge to eat, telling me it would help me. She soon asked me what happened to her I hesitated at first because I felt so embarrassed so she told me not to bother and pro
