Chapter Four

Karen's POV

"Brody?" I asked and he nodded.

The name sounded familiar, I recalled Bill telling me about the billionaire whose name was Brody. "And your name?" He asked

"I'm Karen Miller." I answered.

He smiled. "Are you in a relationship?" He inquired with a smile.

I shook my head, my gaze shifted to him. "I'm very, very, very single." I told him. I wondered why he asked such a question.

He chuckled and let out a grin. I stood up and walked to the fridge to get him something to drink, I brought out a glass of wine and dropped it on the table.

"I'm sorry but I don't drink these types of wine."

I nodded embarrassed and took the bottles of wine, I went back and returned it.

Coming back to the parlour, I sat on the sofa.

"I'm also very, very single and I'm ready to mingle." He muttered and plowed his fingers through his hair.

Silence hung in the air. "So when do you intend on getting married?" I asked in a flirtatious way, breaking the silence.

He paused, giving me large brown eyes. He cleared his throat. "Huh, not anytime soon."

"Why?"

"I have priorities and romance is not one of them." He answered. He continued to stare at me, watching me through his beautiful eyes. I felt goosebumps forming on my skin as I smiled back at him.

His attitude melted my heart. "You're handsome." I commented and the door opened. Emily walked in with a smile. "It's evening already. The party has started, what are you guys still doing here?" She asked.

I and Brody exchanged uneasy glances. "Let's go to the party." Brody suggested to me.

"Brody knows the venue, Henry has cancelled the party in his house but there's still another party that Brody knows, he told me that he would take us there." Emily said with a sad smile.

Frowning, I looked at her. "What made him cancel something that he has almost prepared?" I asked.

"I don't know, he went somewhere."

"Where's the place?" I asked him.

"We don't have to use my car. We can actually walk there, it's not far from this house." He answered.

I just couldn't believe that Henry cancelled the party and wanted me to follow a total stranger to another party.

"I won't be following you guys." Emily murmured. Colour tinted her cheeks as I exhaled sharply.

Brody stood up and I also did the same. "It seems you guys are getting along." Emily noticed.

Ignoring her, I walked outside. "Karen?" He prompted and I turned to look at him. "I want to marry you." He said and my heart beat.

I gave him a flirtatious smile and chuckled. "I'm not ready for marriage."

"Well, if you say you're not ready for marriage, I can't force you but we can certainly explore each other." He said as we walked out of the compound.

I ignored his reply, pretending I didn't know the meaning of exploring ourselves. "You said the party is within walking distance." I reminded him as we started trekking to the venue.

"Yeah."

"Alright."

"You should probably get a tattoo." He suggested.

I shrugged. "I don't like pain."

"I have one on my butt, I can show you anytime you want to see it." He said.

I grinned as I looked at him, my eyes widened. "I don't know."

After what felt like hours, we finally stopped in front of a huge two story building. "A full house." He said as he got out of the car.

Some group of men high five and shook his hands. "Aren't you coming?" Brody asked me. I walked towards him and smiled at the men. They smiled back at me. "Aren't you going to introduce us to your new girlfriend?" One of the men asked.

He chuckled. "She's not my girlfriend," he answered. "Her name is Karen." He added.

"Hi." I said politely to the girl staring at me.

"You look cute."

Now, that was blunt.

She introduced me to the men and one by one and they all nodded or smiled at me. A handsome man with curly hair reached his hands and shook mine.

"I'm Micheal." He introduced himself.

I smiled proudly.

Dragging Brody to a corner, "Where's more peaceful?" I asked.

"Maybe the kitchen." He joked but I loved the idea.

"It actually seems like the best place for me to stay." I replied and dragged him to the back of the house.

We passed out the back door into the kitchen, I was happy that no one was there. He took an alcoholic drink from the fridge and gulped down it's content quickly.

"Don't get drunk." I warned.

He mistakenly spilled some of the liquid on my dress and his eyes held no apology.

I frowned at him and snatched the bottle of alcohol, dropping it on the floor. "Tell me it wasn't intentional."

I reached around for a napkin and wiped it over my dress. I leaned against the counter after dropping it.

"Is this party all night or half night?" I asked.

He frowned, I could see that he was getting drunk. "All night." He replied and I frowned.

"It's getting late already, I should get going." I said and he stopped me.

"When you get into the party, you can't leave till the next morning." He explained.

"Well, I'm not into parties," I muttered. "What was I even thinking?" I asked, leaning against the wall and crossed my arms for warmth.

"You were into me." He reminded me.

Frowning, I walked into the living room where the main party took place, everyone was dancing to the music the DJ played.

A man took my hand and took me back to the kitchen, I recognized him to be Michael who introduced himself to me. "What are you doing?" I asked.

I noticed Brody was no longer in the kitchen. "I felt a connection between us earlier on." He answered and I chuckled, releasing myself from his grip.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I didn't feel any spark or connection. It was just a normal man introducing himself to a lady." I said. I walked to the cupboard and grabbed a packet of cornflakes and milk. I let my cereal soak in the milk before eating.

"I felt that connection, I want you Karen. I want to taste your body." He said and my heart raced, the plate fell from my hand shattering to the floor. I wanted to know what he meant like that even though I knew what he meant.

"Are you crazy?"

"Yes, I'm crazy for you." He answered with a grin as he ran his hands through his messy hair.

"If this is a joke, please stop it." I pleaded, almost crying. The thought of being raped made me shiver every second.

"I mean, we can do it in the kitchen. No one's here but if you're not comfortable, we can go into any of the rooms." He said and my heart sped rapidly.

"Please leave me alone." I didn't even know when I began to cry, the ugly image of being raped affected me as I picked up a knife from the tray near me and pointed it to him.

"You wouldn't do that, would you?" He ventured cautiously.

"Of course, I would." I replied trying to make him scared but he just laughed. The knife fell from my hands to the ground and he chuckled.

Looking at him, he removed his shirts leaving his boxers on, as I tried to run out of the kitchen, he grabbed me and we both fell to the floor.
