Chapter Fourty-Nine

Karen's POV

I walked out of the doctor's office as tears rolled down my cheeks freely. Mom ran towards me with a sympathetic look. "What did he say?" She asked and I felt my lips become sealed. I couldn't even say a word, Brody had kidney failure and he never told me. "Brody was diagnosed with kidney failure."

Her eyes widened and she looked at me shocked. I managed to sit down on the small couch in front of the operating theater. "Is that all the doctor said?" She asked.

I coughed and cleared my throat. "He also told me that Brody needed another kidney and if I was....."

She interrupted me with a frown. "You're not thinking of donating your kidney to him, are you?" 

"Mom, I'll do anything for Brody."

"Brody is a stranger." She muttered.

I shook my head. "He is my husband."

"Your contracted husband." She reminded me.

Why was she talking like this? This was the time to encourage me and not discourage me. I definitely didn't need discouragement. "Mom, I
