“What… I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I stammered, my voice trembling as my heart hammered violently against my ribs. I forced my eyes to widen with innocent, terrified confusion. “I really don’t remember anything. Please… don’t scare me like this, Taylor.”

Taylor stared down at me, her dark, piercing gaze searching every inch of my face. For a terrifying second, I thought she was going to call my bluff.

Then, the sharp edge in her expression melted into a smooth, devastatingly handsome smile.

“Alright, if you say so, dear,” she murmured softly, her tone dripping with mock gentle indulgence. “I won’t scare you. Get some rest.”

She reached out, her fingers warm as she brushed a stray lock of hair behind my ear. Before I could pull away, she leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss right onto my forehead. The heat of her lips burned against my skin long after she pulled back.

“I have some business to take care of,” Taylor said, smoothing down her suit jacket.

Without another word, she turned and strode out of the room, leaving me sitting there, my breath hitched and my jaw practically unhinged in shock.

The moment the bedroom door clicked shut, I let out a ragged, trembling breath I hadn't realised I was holding. Sweat slicked at the back of my neck. Is this really happening? Andrew lied to my face, handing me over to his own sister like some inconvenient piece of luggage… and Taylor is playing along without missing a single beat.

My head throbbed with a dull, aching pain. Exhaustion swept over me in heavy, suffocating waves, and before I could untangle the mess my life had just become, my eyelids grew heavy. Exhaustion dragged me under, and darkness swallowed me whole.

When I finally opened my eyes again, the room was bathed in the dim, golden hues of late evening.

My mouth felt dry, and my mind was foggy, but the overwhelming urge to clean myself up pushed me out of bed. I padded quietly across the plush carpet toward Taylor’s private ensuite bathroom.

Stepping inside, I was temporarily stunned.

Her bathroom was a massive, sprawling sanctuary of cold, effortless luxury. Floor-to-ceiling was dark Italian marble lined the walls, vein-patterned in muted gold and grey. A giant, deep-soaking freestanding tub sat near a massive frosted-glass window overlooking the estate’s private gardens, lit from beneath by soft, ambient LED lights. Double vanity sinks carved out of solid black granite were lined with pristine, high-end skincare, and an oversized walk-in rainfall shower stood in the corner behind seamless glass panels. Everything about the space smelled distinctly like Taylor's rich sandalwood, subtle bergamot, and elite power.

I turned on the sleek waterfall faucet, splashing cold water over my face to shock my senses awake. Towelling my skin dry, I stepped back out into the bedroom.

That was when I heard muffled voices carrying up from downstairs.

Curiosity and a sudden spike of anxiety pulled me toward the door. I tiptoed down the dimly lit hallway, creeping down the grand curved staircase until I pressed my back against the cold marble corner of the foyer, hiding in the shadows where no one could see me.

Down in the main living room wasTaylor sitting cross-legged on a plush velvet sofa, looking entirely relaxed. Andrew was pacing restlessly back and forth in front of her, his hands jammed into his pockets, looking flustered.

“Andrew, you’ve got a lot of nerve,” Taylor’s voice rang out, cool and laced with quiet danger. “Using me as a cover. Making up absurd lies to claim I'm married to Sophia.”

Andrew stopped pacing, rubbing the back of his neck with a nervous chuckle. “Ah… come on, Taylor. I’m sorry, okay? I just wanted to mix things up a little.

Taylor let out a low, dark chuckle that sent a shiver down my spine. “Mix things up? You mean you wanted to turn a five years of sneaking around and cheating into the open without taking the blame?”

Five years.

The words hit my chest like a physical blow. The air rushed out of my lungs, and I slammed a hand over my mouth to choke back the agonising scream building in my throat. Hot, scalding tears instantly welled in my eyes and spilt over my cheeks.

Five years.

My entire marriage. The whole time I was cooking his meals, supporting his career, waiting up for him late at night, thinking he was working hard for our future… he was sleeping with my younger sister, Kate. He had been playing me for a complete fool from the very day I said 'I do.'

“Look, I’m going to end up with Kate eventually, I swear!” Andrew argued defensively, waving a dismissive hand. “And besides, I know you don’t like women, Taylor. That’s why I knew it would be safe to drop Sophia on you for a bit!”

Taylor slowly uncrossed her legs, leaning forward.

“What if I do like women?” she announced, her voice dropping an octave, rich and deliberate.

“What if I actually want to keep Sophia around?”

"Taylor… what the fuck is happening here?" Andrew’s sharp, suffocating voice sliced through the heavy air of the bedroom. The shock hit me like a bucket of ice water. Panic surged through my veins, obliterating the lingering haze of pleasure in an instant. I gasped against Taylor’s mouth, my heart leaping straight into my throat as sheer terror gripped me. Reacting purely on instinct, I shoved against Taylor’s shoulders with all the strength I could muster. The kiss broke with a soft, wet sound. I scrambled wildly across the mattress, pulling my dress down as I buried myself beneath the thick silk duvet at the far edge of the king-sized bed. My hands trembled violently as I pulled the covers up to my chin, my breathing coming in short, terrified hitches. Taylor didn't panic. She didn't even look startled. Instead, a dark, dangerous hiss escaped her lips at the interruption. Slowly, fluidly, she sat up on the edge of the bed and stood to her feet, smoothing down her silk robe

Taylor’s arms slid under my knees and around my back, scooping me up effortlessly in a bridal style. I gasped, instinctively wrapping my arms around her neck to steady myself. Her body was solid, warm, and radiating a subtle scent of sandalwood and expensive perfume that instantly made my head spin. She walked up the grand staircase without breaking her stride, her dark eyes locked onto mine the entire time. I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. The absolute dominance in her gaze sent an electric shiver straight down my spine. She pushed open the heavy double doors of her master bedroom, stepping inside and letting the door click shut behind us. Walking over to the massive king-sized bed, she laid me down gently across the silk sheets. But before I could even draw a full breath, she leaned over, coming down to hover directly on top of me. Her arms framed my head, trapping me in her orbit. "Scared?" Taylor murmured; her voice was so low, a velvet purr. She was so close th

She was wearing a long, dark silk robe, her long hair falling over her shoulders. She looked completely relaxed, yet the icy aura radiating off her filled the entire room with a suffocating tension. Her dark eyes swept over the shattered glass, landed on Andrew and Kate, and finally settled on me lying on the floor. Her face darkened, her expression turning terrifyingly furious. She turned her gaze onto Andrew and Kate, her voice dropping into a dangerous, deadly calm.“Go back to your rooms,” Taylor ordered, every word cut from steel. “If you keep making a scene in my house, you’re both out on the street tonight. Do I make myself clear?”Andrew swallowed hard, his posture immediately shrinking. He knew Taylor wasn't making empty threats; she had the authority and the power to kick them out without a second thought.“Baby, let’s go,” Andrew muttered nervously to Kate. Without waiting for her answer, he scooped Kate up into his arms and quickly carried her out of the dining room, pract

Then the two people whom I hated with every fibre of my being walked straight into the dining room. They were clinging to each other, so completely lost in a heavy, passionate kiss that they didn't even care to check if the room was empty. It was Andrew and Kate.Kate’s arms were wrapped tightly around his neck, letting out soft, breathless moans into his mouth while he pulled her flush against his body.My fingers froze around the crystal glass in my hand. Cold rage washed over the warm buzz of the alcohol.“I love you so much, you little tease,” Andrew muttered against her lips, breathless and eager. When they finally broke the kiss. Kate’s fingers trailed down Andrew’s bare chest. He wasn't even wearing a shirt. A smug, victorious smile spread across my sister's face.“So tell me...” Kate purred, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness. “Am I better than Sophia at turning you on?”“By far, baby,” Andrew replied instantly with a low smirk on his face as Kate’s hand slid lower,

Andrew’s defensive scoff wavered. He tried to force a confident smirk, but it came out crooked and strained.“Taylor, stop messing with me. You don’t like girls. Besides, you’ve never even been with one.”Taylor rose from the couch in one fluid, deadly motion. She closed the distance between them, stepping right into Andrew’s personal space until she was staring directly down into his eyes.“Even if that were true,” Taylor whispered softly, “aren’t you afraid she’ll stop loving you eventually?”“Hell no,” Andrew sneered without a second of hesitation, his arrogance radiating off him in sickening waves. “Even if she remembers everything, I can just sweet-talk her. She’ll forgive me. She always does. She’s so helplessly in love with me, Taylor, she could never... leave me.”Hearing those cruel, arrogant words come out of the mouth of the man I had given five years of my life to made it impossible to breathe. The pain in my chest mutated, twisting into a hot, violent fury that burned awa
