Lucas's POV

The air between Amelia and I had returned to normal since two nights ago. If anything, it had gotten better.

Amelia was always reserved, sometimes cold, and definitely not the type to talk when it's not necessary. And I thought it was what made her my perfect choice, because I never liked it when a woman talked too much.

Lucas's POV The air between Amelia and I had returned to normal since two nights ago. If anything, it had gotten better. Amelia was always reserved, sometimes cold, and definitely not the type to talk when it's not necessary. And I thought it was what made her my perfect choice, because I never liked it when a woman talked too much. But two nights ago, she'd revealed the version of her that wasn't anywhere near quiet and I had listened to every damn thing she had to say without getting bored, tired, or annoyed. Maybe it was because I hadn't seen her in days, or maybe it was because I hadn't heard her voice in days, but whatever the reason was, when she became less chatty yesterday, I found myself missing that extra chatty version of her.I'd gotten dressed and made sure Amelia ate something before we made our way to the backseat of the car. Thankfully, there was no accidental matching incident in our outfits like Amelia's first day. But even if there was, I wouldn't be caught compl

Lucas's POV I found myself walking out of my mother's sight even though I had promised myself I wasn't going to let the hatred I had for her get the best of me. At least within the walls of Royal Crest. It was quite clear that Gabriella had met her a few times, behind my back. Apparently, she'd talked about the marriage proposal to her without my permission, after I clearly refused it. And that— more than anything else, repulsed me.Amelia was right when she said a lady like Gabriella— spoiled under the guise of being pampered, would do anything possible to get what she wanted, which is why we shouldn't give her any opening.Although, I'd brought Amelia to this party as my plus one for many reasons, and at the bottom of that list was the fact that I was sealing any opening for unwanted marriage prospects shut, by showing Amelia off to the world, right by my side.It could just be me overthinking things, but those two— Gabriella and Amelia, seemed to know each other. But I decided,

Amelia's POV Dinner took forty five minutes in total, including the time the two men spent gawking at each other's words. And at the end of it, Lucas led me out like a true princess that deserves his attention."Did you like my gift?" He asked as we stepped into the dark night, his hand holding my smaller ones protectively. He didn't have to ask into detail for me to know exactly what he was talking about."I did. A little too much that it made me tear up" I told him truthfully."Good. Because I have something else for you" "What is it?" I asked."An offer? To watch the stars with me tonight" he said right before he stopped walking to stare at my face even through the darkness."Stars? But there are no..." My words caught in my throat as I looked up into the dark glittering sky.And there they were, the glittering stars that show up once every full moon.Oh. My. God."What do you think?" He asked softly, caressing the skin of my hand gently. What do I think?I think the stars are dr

Amelia's POV Someone messed with my car. My car brakes have never failed me and it wouldn't suddenly fail overnight without anyone touching them. Someone did this and I just couldn't wrap my head around anyone who would hate me to the point of wanting me dead.Damian? Did he hate me that much? Did he send that message because he knew I would drive out in my car? Did he want me to die because I wouldn't agree with his proposal?Tears and more tears pooled in my eyes as I drove into a dark long tunnel, dark scary thoughts creeping through my mind. Then suddenly I saw another glimmer of headlights that isn't mine from the side mirror of my car.I could call for help right now but deep down I knew no one could stop a moving car that was out of control unless they became a vampire? Or a grim reaper? If I'm going to die, I would do it alone. I won't drag some innocent person to die along with me... Or that was what I told myself until I saw a cliff far aheadDeath flashed right before my e

Lucas's POV I found myself walking out of my mother's sight even though I had promised myself I wasn't going to let the hatred I had for her get the best of me. At least within the walls of Silverline Pack.It was quite clear that Vivienne had met her a few times, behind my back. Apparently, she'd talked about the marriage proposal to her without my permission, after I clearly refused it. And that, more than anything else, repulsed me.Amelia was right when she said a lady like Vivienne, spoiled under the guise of being pampered, would do anything possible to get what she wanted, which is why we shouldn't give her any opening.Although, I'd brought Amelia to this party as my plus one for many reasons, and at the bottom of that list was the fact that I was sealing any opening for unwanted marriage prospects shut, by showing Amelia off to the world, right by my side.It could just be me overthinking things, but those two, Vivienne and Amelia, seemed to know each other. Amelia's POV "Really? You? Uncomfortable?" I teased, raising a brow."I didn't say I was scared. I was simply cautious. There's a difference." he said, and I laughed at how quickly he corrected me."Sure, sure." I said, still grinning.“I mean it, Wildcat. You should've seen me the first time I sat across from her. I was maybe twenty-two. I don't think I said a single unnecessary word the entire hour.” he added, and I actually turned to look at him, trying to picture a twenty-two-year-old version of the man currently sitting beside me like he owned the car, the hotel, and possibly the entire street outside."That's genuinely hard to imagine." I said."Believe it or not, I wasn't always like this," he said, gesturing vaguely at himself."Insufferable?" I offered."Confident and reckless when I want to be" he corrected, and I rolled my eyes so hard, the balls nearly fell off.He let the silence sit for a second before the corner of his mouth twitched. "So… Looking like the Queen, huh?"
