For several seconds, the room seemed to forget how to breathe.

Martin nodded.

“The order came from Elias Voss.”

Nathaniel’s face hardened.

“You’re lying.”

“I wish I was.”

Sienna watched him closely.

Martin opened the folder.

“That’s what everyone believed.”

The old Hartley estate appeared through the darkness like a memory Sienna had spent years trying to forget. The gates stood open. That was the first thing she noticed. The second was the absence of lights. Her childhood home had always been bright, even at night. Her father hated dark hallways. He used to say a house should never feel like it was hiding something. Now every window was black.Nathaniel’s car slowed.“Nobody lives here,” Martin said through the communication system.Sienna stared at the house.“Someone does.”Amelia sat beside her, silent. Her fingers had not left Sienna’s since they arrived.“That’s where they kept you?”Amelia nodded.“Underground.”Sienna looked at the estate again. She remembered running through these halls as a child. Her father’s study. The library. The garden. She remembered none of the basement.“Why don’t I remember this place?”Amelia looked at her.“Because they didn’t want you to.”Nathaniel glanced at Sienna.“Stay with me.”“I will.”The c

“Celeste.”The name left Elena’s lips like a confession.Sienna’s body went rigid.Nathaniel immediately moved in front of her.“Stay behind me.”A soft laugh came from the staircase.“You still do that.”Celeste appeared slowly, one hand resting against the railing. She looked untouched. No blood. No sign that she had just escaped a collapsing underground archive. Her gaze moved across the room before settling on Elena.“You really thought you could keep hiding?”Elena’s face had gone pale.“I wasn’t hiding.”“You were.”Celeste descended another step.“For twenty-four years.”Sienna stepped around Nathaniel.“What are you talking about?”Celeste looked at her.“Ask your mother.”“I am asking you.”Celeste smiled.“Then perhaps you should finally hear the truth from both of us.”Elena shook her head.“Don’t.”Celeste’s expression hardened.“Why?”“Afraid she’ll hate you?”Sienna looked at Elena.“Mum?”Elena’s eyes filled with tears.Celeste reached the bottom of the stairs.“Your mo
