Chapter 8___________________________________I sighed wistfully and slipped my hands into my jean pockets as i took a walk a few blocks away from where i lived. The evening was cool and although it was almost rush hour– there was some calm to the air. I still hadn't gotten over what had transpired at my now former work place. I squeezed my eyes shut momentarily and rubbed my face in frustration. My phone begins to vibrate in my back pocket, so i quickly slid it out and swiped right before i even got to check the caller ID. It was Hassan."Hello." I hear his voice from the other end– he sounded grim."Hey." I reply, wondering if he's already gotten an available vacancy for me."You've found something for me already?!" I asked expectantly. He sighed, "no, i just want to tell you something." My brows knitted in apprehension. What if he wasn't only going to fire me and is charging me for the losses i had incurred? My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach."What?" I ask softly."Look, yo
Chapter 9________________________________________________I was out of the house before 1pm, cradling my credentials as i breezed past houses in a bid to get a mode of transport before it was deep into lunch hour and everywhere became too rowdy. I had gotten some accessories and a pair of killer heels from Mandy's wardrobe to go. I had always known her to have a fetish for stylish wears– but what i saw in her wardrobe screamed opulence– yet i couldn't say a word because we'd already talked about it, and i didn't want to ruin the mood.Luckily, i got a cab just at the junction and was on my way before i knew. My stars must be in alignment today, i laughed to myself. The uber stopped right outside the restaurant. Little bright lights carefully ringed around a "Maddie's homemades". I paid the driver and got out, my eyes scanning the whole area.It looked like a small fancy restaurants for the rich. Like the ones you had to make a reservation to eat– yet still be more likely to lose it
Chapter 10_____________________________________________Ahmed's POV.The day had been really hectic for him. He's been hopping from one meeting to the other, trying to finalize some deals he needed to push the market for his newly designed plate ware. His family were also buzzing his phone off about the preparations for the girls graduation. What was his business with that? Now he had to deal with the interview that his erratic secretary had set up for him without his notice. He could easily have postponed it for another day, seeing as he just left another unscheduled meeting – but he just wanted to get it over with. The graduation was closeby and he didn't want to be caught off guard with one of his dad's tricks. The Maitre 'D quickly approached him when he walked in, fully recognizing who he was. This has been his favorite restaurant since he started learning the hands of the businesses his father was slowly introducing him into back when he was younger. The ambience carried a ca
Chapter 11___________He left the restaurant without getting anything, his mum had called him and told him over the phone that one of the twins had confronted their dad about the issue on the position of his company, it did not end well.He didn't know why he was going, but he felt his siblings needed him, and that was enough reason. He pulled up at their mansion, honking for the security guard to open up the gates for him. The gates slowly did so themselves– his father must've gotten a new security system in place. The security guard was on the right side in a cube like stationary– his buff frame hunched over as he controlled things. He waved warmly at Ahmed when he drove past him, even though he simply acknowledged him with a nod.Although there were multiple people going around the house getting stuff fixed in time before the graduation party, the house still felt tense and cold. He didn't feel welcomed in the least."Ah, i wasn't expecting you to come." His mother softly exclaime
Chapter 12_____________Allison's POV.After my shocking revisit with a chapter I thought i had closed, i stopped by an ice cream shop to cool down.My thoughts weren't in alignment and i was now much more worried than i initially were.I had thought my boss giving me a second chance at my job meant I'd be killing two birds with one stone– i didn't realise that i was throwing a boomerang whose trajectory set me as the target.Did this mean i don't get to even keep my former job?He wasn't exactly nice but he wasn't exactly his usual mean and condescending self either. The thought that he might've felt somehow betrayed and would want to exercise his punishment by not giving me any of the jobs left my body in fritters. That simply meant I'd end up not only not paying for my fashion school, but also not being able to foot pressing bills.I hit my head on the small plastic round table in remorse, 'what was i thinking!?'"Be careful, or you might break that dainty table– i hear they cost
Chapter 13_____________My jaw dropped as his black BMW stopped in front of one of the most beautiful mansions I've ever beheld. The gates were welded so intricately, i felt it needed to be in an art gallery instead. They opened up themselves after Albert looked at a small square screen and spoke– it seemed the security guard was on the other end, controlling things."Wow.." i mutter in awe as he drove into the compound. Neatly cut hedges lined the ends of the driveway in a heart like line– as the fountain of what looked like a sculpted version of the spirit of ecstasy lazily jetted thin streams of water from its wings. At the far end of of a few marbled steps laid the mansion in all its' glory."I grew up here y'know, my dad died when i was just a boy– his boss took me in. He's like a father to me but i call him Godfather." He chatted as he pulled up at the end of the stairs, he seemed to enjoy the nostalgia he had indulged himself in."Why do you call him that?" I asked inquisitiv
Chapter 14_____________The silence in the car was so thick, i could slice it with a knife. He held the wheel and stared blankly into space, what was going on in his head?I looked out the window, my heart thrumming due to the tension in the car." You were going to get another job?" He mused outloud. I turned to look at him, dumbfounded by his audacity." Well, you weren't going to give me the job anyway, were you?""I never said that." He retorted, i scoffed. Of course he'd say that."What do you want from me!?" I shouted, fed up with him.He shifted uncomfortably, not expecting my outburst. "I told you my secretary was going to call you."" When has that, in the history of job searching ever been upheld?" I asked. He rubbed his face with both palms, frustrated. "You told me to leave without so much as a glance my way. Was i supposed to read your thoughts?""Of course not! I just wanted to think it all through, you already had the job." He affirmed. I stared intensely at him, to
Chapter 15____________It was noon time when we arrived at my place– after i had to direct him because he wasn't familiar with that side of town.It felt odd as we drove into the neighborhood. It wasn't a bad place to stay, really– it just wasn't eye pleasing and i found myself feeling small as we drove further. His mood seemed to have eased off as he tapped in a tune like way continuously, and would bob his head from time to time."Your neighborhood is pleasant." He said absentmindedly to my shock. Wait, he liked it?I simply blinked and looked out the window to see what he was seeing. The houses were built in such a way that they looked cramped even though it was every individual to their apartment. There were litters of over spilling trash here and there which the garbage collectors haven't come to pack up yet, or maybe they simply didn't care.Overgrown grasses here and there because everyone was to busy sourcing for their daily bread to care.I could see some kids at the far e
