CHAPTER 6

The ten minutes Emma was given was the shortest ten minutes in her life.

She didn't know when and what time Blake began counting from, that made her unsure of whether she is late or not.

After taking her bath, she hurriedly wore a simple gown and head down the stairs confused about why he is calling her.

Is it to hit her? Punish her or blame her again for agreeing to this marriage?

He was the same person that his precarious and threatening gaze couldn't let her say anything stupid yesterday yet, he is mad at her.

Emma bit her lips in nervousness, uneasy about what will happen to her.

As she stepped downstairs, she saw Blake elegantly seated while tapping his foot on the ground.

Her heart accelerated, will she ever get used to his presence? Will there be a day she will not be shaken by his intimidating aura?

With each step she took towards him, she silently prayed. She is scared, she ought to, Emma is just twenty.

She can't be classified as an adult now. To her, she is still someone that lacks the knowledge about a lot of things.

Her small mind is not strong enough for marriage yet and more less getting married to someone like Blake.

Emma stopped inches away from him with her head bowed and her heart throbbing in her chest.

"Good morning" she greeted unsure of what title she is to add to it.

She fidget with her hands waiting for Blake to speak up.

Blake raised his head up, he took in her appearance with a scowl on his face then checked his watch. He discovered that it was fourteen minutes past six.

"You are four minutes late, why do you keep antagonizing me? Are you trying to see what I can do?"

He snapped at her. She shrink back appalled at his sudden thundering voice.

"I...am sorry" she apologized not knowing what else to say.

"Sit" he commanded with hostility. He did not for once try to hide his hatred for her. It lace through his voice and actions towards her.

Emma didn't wait to be told twice before she did that.

"There are rules I am going to say to you now, do not ever try to skip or forget anyone because I might punish you for it,

If you fail to abide by my rules, I will make sure I torture you until you can't take it anymore"

Her shoulder tensed up, the acceleration of her heart doubled in anxiety.

"First, do not ever be a minute late if I call for you, my food must be ready at five in the morning, if delayed by a second, I will make sure you stand on ice for ten hours,

You should know that you are my maid, I do not need other maids and as such, I want you to have it in the back of your mind that the mansion must be clean,

Do not make the mistake of using the washing machine to wash either my clothes or yours"

Blake waver, he stared at the tiny girl opposite him expressionless thinking about what his father was thinking to suggest someone as small as her.

He is way too older than her or maybe, she is hungry for money and that didn't bother her about marrying an older person.

Emma shuddered. Her eyes slightly bulge out of its sockets. Her hands were shaking vigorously at the thought of standing on an ice for hours.

She might die before anything happens.

As she thought about it, a certain feeling of anxiousness settled within her.

She was scared of what he said but even more scared to speak up.

"Listen up clearly, make sure you do not forget whatever I have been saying. I wouldn't hesitate to hurt you, you are mine and I have the right to do whatever I please with you"

  He spat angrily.

"Do not step in my space, don't be a disturbance to me. Like I said yesterday, do not step into my room unless I ask you to,

You must not step out of the house without my permission, you must never have the thought of visiting or seeing your family, you cut ties with them the moment you became my wife,

And lastly, it is compulsory that you wait up for me till I return from work. No matter what time I return, I should meet you awake"

Blake said and stood up, Emma sat down with a heavy heart. A lot of thoughts were going through her mind.

She wanted to break and cry, she wanted to reveal her emotions. This is too much for her.

How can she keep all the rules in her head? Did he really mean it when he said she will never see her parents?

Why? Why is he this cruel to her? Why is she being held hostage by her husband who is supposed to be her pillar?

Did she commit a crime by marrying him? Why does getting married to him comes with so many rules?

Emma stood up with him, she doesn't want to be yanked by the hair for sitting while he is standing.

Is the how she will continue walking on edge for the rest of her life? Will she continue walking on eggshells forever?

"You shouldn't stand there moping at me like a clown, I will forgive you for not waking up early today but there won't be a next time"

He yelled glancing at his time.

"I need my breakfast of rice cake and chicken soup to be ready in the next one hour, your time starts now"

With that said, he took a look at her disgustingly and climbed up the stairs into his room leaving her appalled.

He is very well aware that she is not familiar with the mansion yet, he didn't bother telling her the direction of the kitchen.

Her eyes swim around the room, she saw a hallway that might eventually lead her to the kitchen and hastily began walking towards it.

She was lucky enough to locate the kitchen as quick as possible.

At least, she wasn't spoilt, her mum thought her how to cook from a very young age and she is grateful for that.

Instead of starting one first, since there was enough cookers for cooking, she decided to start with the two at the same time.

She tried to meet up with the time but failed terribly. After about an hour and half, she was done.

She quickly set the table, climbed up to Blake's front door with sweaty hands.

There was no way she could have been done in an hour and to crown it all, it was a total of two meals.

Will he make her stand on the ice for real? What will he do to her?

She shakily knocked on the door and waited patiently until the door was opened.

"I thought I told you not to be a second late didn't I?" He asked loathly.

"It won't repeat itself again, I am sorry" she stuttered.

Before she could raise her head to look at him, a thunderous slap landed on her cheek which made it reddened in the next few seconds.

Emma was perplexed, she wasn't expecting him to slap her. Her hand flew to her hurting cheek as tears spilled from her eyes.

"I hate it when you say that stupid sorry, I expect you to be flawless little girl. Do not make any mistake for as long as you remain here"

He pushed her away and left downstairs.
