"Leander, you disgust me," I said, meeting his stunned gaze.

Now seething with fury and humiliation, Leander moved toward me, only to be shoved away by Edgar, who sent him staggering.

"I already apologized!" Leander roared. "What more do you want? You weren't always like this. You used to—"

He left the words hanging, though I knew exactly what he meant.

I stepped closer and watched his face light up with hope before slapping him hard. His face contorted in shock.

Laughing under my breath, I said, "Did you really think a simple apology would make me forgive you and take you back?

"I loved you once—enough to move abroad for you, carry your child, endure your family's insults, and turn a blind eye whenever you slipped into Dinah's room.

"But love, Leander, wears thin. Did you really think I could still love you after everything you've done?"

Leander, reeling as if struck by my words, staggered back before crumpling to the ground. He met my gaze, but the love that once shone in my

The familiar surroundings immediately put Ryan and me at ease. People who recognized us smiled and offered warm greetings as we passed. To them, I was just the Bellini family's cherished youngest daughter—not Leander's fiancée.My eldest brother, Edgar Bellini, was already waiting outside the airport, ready to drive us straight to Bellini Manor for a family dinner prepared in advance. At the mention of dinner, Ryan stiffened and edged closer to me. I patted his back reassuringly, understanding his fear all too well.Back at Beaumont Manor, family dinners had never been easy on us. Even the slightest mistake—like the scrape of a knife against a plate while cutting steak—would earn Ryan a stern lecture. As for me, I had to stand with the housekeepers, serving the Beaumonts until they finished eating before I was allowed to have my meal in the kitchen. The memory drew a bitter laugh from me. Somehow, I had put up with it for seven years. Honestly, it was impressive.Once we got hom

Leander leaned back in his chair and scrolled through our messages.Over the past six months, our conversations had withered down to almost nothing. Most of the texts were from me, wishing him good morning and good night or reminding him to rest.Leander rarely replied. When he did, it was usually just a one-word response. But after he started visiting Dinah's place so often, our messages became even sparser.Over the past month, I hadn't even bothered with my usual greetings.Leander kept scrolling until he suddenly sat upright, frowning. He had reached the most recent messages, sent just a few days ago. They were my desperate pleas, begging him to come back for Ryan's birthday.Back then, he was caught up planning his engagement party with Dinah and had completely forgotten Ryan's birthday. He thought our sudden visit was meant to humiliate him, and the image of Ryan trembling as he called him "Don Beaumont" flashed through his mind. His chest tightened, and he pressed a hand o

Meanwhile, Leander stood in his groom's attire, waiting for the first look, when his phone buzzed to life. A strange shudder ran through him. After reading the message, he dropped the bridal bouquet meant for Dinah and rushed out.The curtains parted, and Dinah stepped forward in her designer wedding dress. She couldn't wait to see Leander's reaction, but instead, she found an empty altar.Leander jumped into his sports car and raced toward the airport. He slammed the gas, weaving through traffic while dialing my number. The endless busy signal only deepened his frustration, and he blasted the horn. After narrowly avoiding a pedestrian for the fifth time, Leander slammed the steering wheel and snarled, "Why the hell are there so many people?"Beside him, his bodyguard broke into a cold sweat and cautiously said, "Don Beaumont, it's Christmas. There are events everywhere, so—"Leander whipped his head toward him, his voice filled with disbelief as he asked, "Christmas?"He'd forg

Leander's expression softened a little at Ryan's words. The murmurs around them faded away.Ryan glanced at the large cake nearby and asked, "Don Beaumont, is this party for me? Can I cut the cake with you?"He'd been looking forward to this day for so long. Even if he couldn't call Leander "Papà", just being with him would be enough.Just then, Dinah—decked out in heavy makeup and a revealing red gown—sidled up to Leander, slipping her arm through his."I'm afraid not, darling. Tonight's engagement party is a private event, and I don't believe outsiders are invited."She didn't even glance at Ryan, speaking only to Leander. It finally sank in—Dinah had planned everything today. She was the one who sent the message that lured Ryan and me here.Public humiliation wasn't her only goal. She also wanted to corner Leander into calling us outsiders in front of everyone.Dinah wasn't the only one with her eyes on Leander. I stepped forward, shielding Ryan, and met Leander's eyes. My v

I left the banquet hall and led Ryan down the bustling shopping street, hoping to get him some ice cream. He stopped crying as he ate.I ruffled his hair, which was brown, just like Leander's."What do you think about going abroad, sweetheart?" I asked.Ryan looked up at me, his voice barely a whisper. "What about Papà?"He was only a child, forgetting things as fast as they came.I gently wiped the ice cream from the corner of his mouth. "He'll stay here as the don, and from now on, that's what you'll call him. He's not your Papà anymore."Ryan lowered his head, tears streaming down his cheeks once more. I could tell he couldn't stand the thought of leaving Leander—no one could easily accept being abandoned by their father.I hesitated, unsure whether I should plead with Leander to let Ryan stay, when Ryan squeezed my hand and said firmly, "Mamma, I'll go with you. But can I spend one more birthday with Papà?"I couldn't bear to hurt him anymore, so I pulled him close and nodd

I gently nudged Leander toward the door, saying, "Go ahead. Dinah's waiting."With that, I closed the door, cutting off his scrutinizing gaze. My smile faded as soon as the door closed, replaced by detachment.I'd stop waiting for him in seven days.Leander didn't return that night, just as I'd expected. I was still in bed, lost in thought when the door suddenly swung open. But it wasn't Leander who walked in.Instead, Alina Sorvillo, the Beaumont family's butler, stepped in. "Mrs. Beaumont requests your presence at Beaumont Manor today, along with Ryan."Marcella Luppi, Leander's mother, had always looked down on me. The household staff followed her lead, treating me with the same disdain.By the time I arrived at Beaumont Manor, the entire family had already gathered.Leander, who had been missing all night, now stood beside Dinah, his hand resting on her stomach and his gaze filled with adoration.Marcella beamed at Dinah's belly, barely sparing a glance for Ryan and me as s

  • Married to the Don? No, Thanks   Chapter 1

I first met Leander Beaumont when he was a capo in the Beaumont family. His brother, Derek Beaumont, was the don.Derek drew every woman's gaze at mafia family gatherings, each hoping to be the don's chosen one. But it was Leander who caught my attention. He was alone with his drink. I offered my hand, and we shared a dance. They called me bold and scheming, whispering that I'd sold myself to tie the Bellinis to the powerful Beaumonts. But the truth was, I loved Leander more than anything.I loved him enough to have his son, Ryan Beaumont, before we married. I loved him enough to endure 60 nights of him sneaking into Dinah Fowler's bed, all to secure his place as the Beaumonts' next don.It wasn't until I heard about Leander and Dinah's wedding that I realized he hadn't even bothered to hide it from me.After putting Ryan to bed, I stepped out onto the balcony and pulled out my phone to book an international flight. I stared at the flight details on my screen, my mind blank.Seve
