Chapter 5

Author: Lotus
His gut reaction? Suspicion. Real cute—pregnant right after dropping the divorce?

He didn't hesitate. Made the call. "Pull Anna's hospital files. Now."

Thirty minutes later, confirmation. She was pregnant.

Leon stared at the papers she signed, chest tight like someone socked him.

Too fast. He moved way too fast.

He shot off a text: [Anna, we need to talk.]

Nothing.

Called—straight to voicemail.

Panic hit. He launched the Family into full search mode.

Too late. She was already in the air, jetting off to Amiraka. Another mafia's turf.

"Maledizione!" He snatched his coat and stormed out.

Marcella rushed in, blocking the door. "It's late! Where do you think you're going? If that woman left, let her—"

"She's pregnant."

Leon slapped the report on the table.

Marcella's eyes shot wide. "What did you just say?"

He didn't answer. Just turned and headed straight for the airport.

When intel confirmed Anna was deep in rival turf, his jaw locked.

"Get the chopper. Now."

Leon burst through the cathedral doors just as the priest smiled and asked,"Anna Rossi, do you take Michael Costa to be your husband?"I smiled, just about to say yes."Anna!"He stumbled in, a mess. Suit wrinkled, face bruised, IV marks still fresh."Don't." He staggered a few steps, gun in hand, shaking too hard to aim. "Don't marry him..."The cathedral erupted.Someone muttered, "Ain't that Ferrante Don? Swapped the family crest, shifted their turf without the council. His Family's a mess now..."Michael's whole vibe iced over. He snapped his fingers. Guards closed in on Leon.Bang.Leon pulled the trigger.A guard's hand got clipped, and the wine tower behind me exploded into glass and Merlot.Screams tore through the crowd. The air went stiff.Leon didn't flinch. His eyes locked on my ruined dress. He chuckled low. "My bad. Misjudged the aim. What d'you say—call off the wedding?"I grabbed Michael's arm before he moved. "Leon, just leave. Don't wreck this.""Anna.

The Commission split us up fast.I should've been with Michael. Made sense. But nope—they led me to some other room. Not even close to an interrogation room.Plush carpet. Big bed. Private bathroom.Leon was already there, pale as hell, propped against the headboard."Anna..." he breathed out, all weak and pathetic."This your move?" I asked, cold."The Commission blindsided me too." He played it smooth. "Maybe Michael pushed too hard. Made 'em nervous.""Oh, really?" I laughed, all bite. "Then why was I brought here solo? Why'd the examiner ask me three things and bounce?"Right after I said it, he caved."Anna, I'm sorry. I greased someone in the Commission. I just—I missed you. I needed to talk. For real."He tapped the family crest on his chest. "See this? Branded it for you. So everyone knows—the Family, me—we're yours. For seven years, I was a bastard. Took everything you gave like it was owed. Your love... I thought it'd never run out."Just one shot. One last chance

  • Married to the Don's Lie   Chapter 6

Leon woke up in some fancy guest room he didn't recognize.Last thing he remembered? Drinking way too much after storming out of the estate. The rest was a blackout. He spotted the bandage on his arm and thought maybe—just maybe—Anna had forgiven him. A stupid hope, but it hit him hard.Chest aching like hell, he bolted out of bed, didn't care. He had to see her. Then he stepped out... and froze.Out on the terrace, two silhouettes. Locked in an embrace.***Afternoon sun blazing, I was wrapped up in Michael's arms, kissing like nothing else mattered. His hand slid under my shirt, and yeah—my face said it all. That look? Leon only saw it when I was his."What the hell's this?!" Leon barreled out, yelling.Michael didn't flinch. Just shoved him back. "Need a damn permission slip to kiss my fiancée? Who do you think you are, storming in here?""This ain't real!" Leon barked, eyes wild. "You're mad, that's all! You love me!"I'd hesitated before saying yes to Michael. Maybe par

His voice dripped with disgust. "You really think I kept our marriage secret for no reason? That I didn't want kids just because? I was giving you time—waiting for you to come clean! You think I could go public, have a child, with a woman who lied to me?"I laughed.Laughed until the tears came.Of course. How could I forget? This whole marriage was a damn fairy tale—built on lies from the jump.Seven years back, I was fresh outta college, juggling shifts at some artsy gallery. That night? Pouring rain. I ducked into an alley, dodging this creepy client who wouldn't take a hint. Then he showed up—like some dark knight. Came outta nowhere, laid the guy out cold with a couple mean punches.Rain dripping off his fancy suit, eyes like straight razors under that busted streetlamp.Yeah. That's when I fell. Hard. No coming back.Didn't take long to find out who he really was—Leon Ferrante. Youngest Don in Northern Italvia. Boss of the Ferrante Family. There was a damn canyon bet

I stayed up until dawn, phone glowing in the dark.Carla wouldn't quit posting.[Soaked like a drowned rat! Good thing my darling Leon was there.]She was wrapped in his jacket, shopping at some high-end boutique, drowning in diamonds. Way more than I ever got—all these years, not even close.6:00 AM hit:[Some nights... are so wild you never want the sun to rise.]A pic of two hands tangled on hotel sheets. One had his tiger's eye ring. The one he never took off.I shut the phone off, no sound, no tears.Printed the divorce papers in the study. Then, like always, I made breakfast for Antonio."Anna," he beamed, already dressed—for the first time ever. "Today's... my brother said... amusement park day. When's he coming back?"Poor kid must've just crashed for an hour, tops."He's busy today." I faked a smile. No way I'd crush a boy who hadn't stepped outside in five years. "How 'bout I take you?"His face fell a little, but he nodded. No fight in him.At the park, Antonio
