Chapter nineteen [Part two]
I turned the shower knob counterclockwise and the little strings of warm water drizzling from the showerhead ceased to exist. The unsettling feeling in my stomach increased as I padded out of the bathroom with a fluffy just-laundered towel wrapped around my body and a smaller one around my head. I strolled into the hotel suite and shuddered a little at the drastic temperature change even though it was nothing I couldn't handle.
Kate was right in the middle of the hotel room when I walked out. Her arms were folded across her chest, her eyebrow was cocked high, and her gaze was unmoving from me. She wasn't there when I went to have a shower is my immediate guess was that she walked in while I was in the bathroom.
