Chapter 9

Author: Hammer Titan
In the end, John was dragged away from the wedding by his parents.

Strangely, my mood was untouched. If anything, personally cutting off the past left me lighter than I had ever felt before.

I danced with Matt to the music, laughing recklessly while he indulged me with quiet devotion. The sun that day was warm, and the moon hung perfectly round.

That night, after the guests were gone, I washed away my makeup. When I returned, Matt invited me to sit and listen to a story.

I knew he wanted to tell me why he had chosen me.

What I didn't expect was that the story he told… was about me and John.

When John's life had collapsed, Matt—who had always treated his nephew kindly—was afraid John wouldn't survive the blow. He immediately caught a flight home.

And what he walked in on was me, kneeling, begging Samantha not to leave.

He hadn't expected that after she was gone, I would still find the courage to confess to John. Nor had he expected the countless sacrifices I would make for John

  • Marrying His Uncle   Chapter 8

Though John feared Matt, he still stiffened his neck and argued, "Uncle Matt, how could you steal the woman I love?"Matt kicked him again, this time hard enough to make him bleed, before he finally spoke. His voice was ice-cold and dripping with contempt."John, do you honestly think I'm still playing nice with you? I've had feelings for Audrey for years. If I really wanted to steal her from you, you think I would've waited until now?""I already told you—your regret is too damn late. And cut the crap about how much you 'owe' Samantha. What, exactly, do you owe her?"His eyes shifted toward Samantha with disdain. That single glance sent her collapsing weakly to the floor. Flustered, she stammered, "I… I never said Johnny owed me anything. He's the one who thinks so…"I let out a sharp laugh. Even now, Samantha still wanted to act delicate and pitiful.I looked at her and asked, "Samantha, have you forgotten what you told me when I knelt and begged you not to leave him all those

John's outburst drew every eye.The once sacred atmosphere of the wedding shattered instantly, guests whispering in disapproval as their gazes turned on him with open disdain.I watched coldly as John lunged toward me. He reached out, trying to grab me, but Matt's foot slammed into his chest, sending him sprawling across the ground. With a single look from Matt, the bodyguards swooped in, dragging John away and gagging him before he could cause more chaos. The disruption did nothing to shake us.We continued with the ceremony as planned—reciting our vows, exchanging rings, sealing them with a tender kiss under the witness of family and friends.Applause thundered. On his knees in the grass, John stared in disbelief at the beaming Harlem family. What was left to question? Everyone knew who Matt was marrying. Everyone. And no one had told him, fearing exactly this scene.Across from him, Samantha sat frozen, her mind reeling. She had never imagined my fate would turn so sweet. Ab

At that moment, John was on the lawn of the estate. Unlike the guests around him, cheerful and relaxed, he hadn't looked up once. His eyes had been glued to his phone since he arrived. When he realized he couldn't reach me, he immediately ordered his assistant to track my movements. The moment he discovered I had also flown to Austrane, he began borrowing phones to call me. He had gone through nearly every Harlem family member's device—except the groom's. Matt's phone was the only one he hadn't yet tried. With that thought, he started asking where Matt was.By then, Matt was already dressed. He stepped into the bridal dressing room just as I had finished preparing. The maids were still smoothing the train of my gown.Matt paused in the doorway, his eyes filled with wonder, his very breath caught.Under his searing gaze, heat spread across my chest, and I lowered my head shyly. "Do I look nice?" I asked softly. He strode toward me, admiration written all over his face. "Beauti

After more than ten hours in the air, I finally landed in Austrane. The moment I stepped out, I saw Matt waiting. He held a bouquet in his hands, dressed in a black overcoat that lent him an air of elegance and nobility. The instant his gaze found me, he strode forward and pulled me into his arms.I froze, unsure of how to respond, but his voice came low and gentle, "Come here. Let me hug you. Let me feel your warmth… Let me know this isn't just a dream."There was such passion in his tone that I felt as if he had placed me at the very center of his heart.I let him hold me, obedient and still. Soon, his warmth seeped into me, leaving me wrapped in a quiet sense of safety. It wasn't until I noticed the curious or friendly glances around us that I blushed and whispered, "Matt, let's go home first."Only then did he reluctantly release me. He handed me the bouquet, his eyes brimming with laughter. He patted my head—just as he had each time he returned from abroad to see me—and sai

The moment I arrived at the airport, John's call came through.I slipped into a quiet corner and pressed answer. His voice was urgent."I saw you on the surveillance cameras leaving with a suitcase. Where are you going? Get back home immediately, or I'll come and drag you back myself."I hadn't expected him to monitor me. A faint smile tugged at my lips as I asked, almost amused, "John, don't you think you're overstepping? If you care so much about where I'm going, aren't you afraid your fiancée might get jealous?"He fell silent for a moment, then forced a stiff reply. "I'm only worried you'll sneak off to Austrane and cause trouble for everyone."My tone was calm and detached. "Don't worry. I'm just going out for a little break."At that moment, I heard a flight attendant's reminder in his background, instructing passengers to switch their phones to airplane mode.He asked her to wait, then, for once, his voice softened, "You've been doing well lately. When you come back, as
