Natasha’s POV.

I kept walking around the room with no idea what I was doing. My hands were trembling again.

I kept wringing them without realizing it. My thoughts were all over the place and nothing was making sense. I sat on the edge of the bed, then stood again almost immediately, then walked back to the window only to stare out and see nothing.

My heart hadn’t settled since the morning. Since I found him at the door watching me in silence.

Since the glass bowl dropped and shattered and I saw blood on my own skin and didn’t even feel the pain until later.

The fear had gripped me so tightly that even now, the pain in my legs barely registered. I could see the dried blood around the cuts. I hadn’t done anything about them. I just kept pacing around the room like I was waiting for something bad to happen. I didn’t know what, but I felt like something was coming. I couldn’t rest.

I didn’t know what to think anymore. Amara’s words kept ringing in my ears. The way she said it. The way

Natasha’s POV.“Mom. What are you doing here?” I asked, hurrying towards her. She was already attracting attention and soon the higher-ups will get notified and involved.I grabbed her hand, apologizing to people around, and led her out of the hospital.“Why would you come here to do this to me? Haven’t I said I can't do anything, I don't have the money to assist,” I demanded, trying not to lose my temper.“Why have you been ignoring our texts and calls? If you hadn't done that, do you think I would have come here to do this?”“You are harassing Sylvester and me, can you stop, please?”“No, Natasha unless you provide the money needed for your sister’s support. I don't care how you will do it, just do it by the end of tomorrow or I will do worse,” she said and stormed out leaving me standing there wondering if they sold me out the moment I agreed to marry Sylvester.*I didn’t want to cry anymore, but everything felt too much as the day went by.The calls, the texts, and the accusation

Natasha’s POV. The location of our field trip was just about one hour away and we had already arrived to save Dr. Gabe, whom we had tried to stabilize and keep conscious all through the ride in the ambulance we reached out for help. The hospital lights always felt too bright when we arrived at the hospital late that day. I had gotten used to them over time, but that day, they pressed into my eyes like they were trying to remind me of everything I didn’t want to think about. The stretcher was rushed in through the emergency doors the moment we arrived from the trip. Dr. Gabe had passed out during the ride. I had sat just a few feet away, staring at his pale face the whole time. They tried to stabilize him, but by the time the ambulance pulled into the hospital, he was barely breathing. Now he was in a coma. Machines did all the work for him, beeping steadily in the corner like cold reminders of how real everything had become. I stood behind the glass with a few other interns, w

Natasha’s POV. After I closed the door on Josh’s face, I kept feeling it, that quiet discomfort under my skin. Not because anything had gone wrong yet, but because of the way Josh kept showing up, especially after showing up at my door last night and accusing me of having an affair with Dr. Andrew. It was now disturbing because he might start a rumor which wouldn't be good for my reputation or Slyvester’s who is struggling. I knew it was time I stopped overlooking him and did something but what would I do? He hadn't physically assaulted me yet, there was no evidence, so what would I say to the police? The thought of this left me feeling helpless but still I told myself, I had to do something. * The next morning, as we filed into the conference room for another field session, Dr. Andrew caught up with me in the hallway. “You alright? I heard about what Josh did to you last night from an intern who stayed in the same unit with you, ” he asked, handing me a sealed water bottle from

Josh’s POV.Even while we are now on a three-day field trip, I hated the way he was always around her like he had some unspoken right to be by her side. Dr. Andrew didn’t say much, but his actions spoke loudly. Every time I got close to Natasha, he would just appear. Not in a dramatic way, no—he was too composed for that. But always at the perfect time, always when I was just a few feet away, just about to start a conversation or catch her eye, and then he’d step in, as though it was accidental, as though I wasn’t being deliberately pushed aside.I stood there near the tents where we were relaxing that afternoon, my arms crossed, pretending to review my notes but my eyes never left her. Natasha laughed at something Dr. Andrew said, tilting her head, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, and I could barely breathe. It wasn’t the sound of her laugh that hurt. It was the fact that it wasn’t mine anymore. She used to laugh with me like that. She used to look at me like I mattered.N
