Chapter 261 A Sudden Fallout

Author: Rosie Steppe
"No!"

Rosalyn was absolutely certain. She understood exactly what Eric meant by asking that. "Do you think she's coming after me for revenge?"

Eric's gaze was fixed on her. "What kind of grudge do you think she could possibly have with you?"

"If there is one, it's probably because my mother was once in a relationship with her man." That wasn't exactly a secret, and with Eric, she didn't feel the need to hide anything.

But her mother had already passed away.

Zayne said Naomi was only doing this to find the person he had always kept hidden in his heart. At first glance, that explanation sounded plausible. Any woman would feel jealous knowing her husband shared a bed with her while loving someone else. But the more Rosalyn thought about it, the more absurd it felt.

Zayne and Naomi had been married for over twenty years, and she had tolerated it all this time. And now, she suddenly had some kind of awakening in her old age?

"I need you to do me a favor," Rosalyn said suddenly.

No matter how formidable a woman was, she was ultimately vulnerable in front of a man who was drunk.Rosalyn gradually stopped struggling. Eric's hand traced her slender waist, and the familiar touch made them both shiver. When his lips brushed against her collarbone, Rosalyn could hear her own out-of-control heartbeat.Clothes were scattered across the floor, and the moonlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting dappled shadows on the bed.Eric's movements alternated between gentle and rough, as if making sure she was there.Rosalyn bit her lip to hold back her breaths, but eventually, she surrendered completely.Afterwards, the room was filled only with the sound of their interlaced breathing.Rosalyn propped herself up. "Can I go now?"Suddenly, Eric wrapped his arms around her from behind and gripped her hard."Rosalyn." His voice carried an unprecedented vulnerability. "Why can't I get even the slightest response from you?"A warm drop of tear landed on her shou

Wendy raised an eyebrow and turned around. She smiled. "What's the matter? Can't bear to see me go?""I was too impulsive before. I shouldn't have dragged you into it." Rosalyn released her grip. She sounded sincerely apologetic.Wendy suddenly laughed and reached out to pinch Rosalyn's cheek. "Sweetheart, you're so cute when you apologize."She leaned close and let the faint scent of perfume tease Rosalyn's senses. "But I never really cared about that stuff."Stepping back, she looked Rosalyn up and down. "Honestly, I like your fierceness." She gently tapped Rosalyn's chest with her fingertip. "Women should be like this. When it's time to be ruthless, never hold back."The rain poured harder, and Wendy opened a black umbrella. She suddenly spoke in a serious tone. "But I need to warn you. Once you leave the Hammond family, life won't be easy."Her gaze sharpened. "You're like a sheltered cub venturing out into the wild. Those who covet your position will show no mercy in tearing

The cafe's glass windows were foggy. Rosalyn stared at her blurred reflection, and her fingers absently traced the rim of her coffee cup."Mind if I sit here?"Rosalyn looked up swiftly. Zac stood before her table. His black trench coat was dotted with fine raindrops. In his hands, he held a bouquet of gerbera daisies. Each petal glistened with tiny beads of water."I heard about your grandma," he said softly before putting the flowers down. His voice was gentle. "My condolences."Rosalyn tightened her grip on the cup. "Thanks, bro-in-law."She deliberately used a distant form of address, though her gaze couldn't help flicking to his bare ring finger where a wedding ring should have been.Zac seemed to notice, and without a word, slipped his hand back into his pocket. "The latte here—""I prefer Americanos," Rosalyn interrupted.Online, she had told him she liked lattes. Now, having decided to keep her distance, she wouldn't give him the slightest hint of doubt.Even as she s

At twelve past five in the morning, Rosalyn's divorce announcement went viral in Cromwell. There was no lawyer's notice or PR statement, just a single line on her social media account.[Effective immediately, Eric and I are no longer married. From now on, our lives are separate.]The PR department at Hammond Corporation instantly went into chaos. Phones from the media rang off the hook. Eric, meanwhile, saw the post just as he returned to Interstate One Residences. She hadn't even given him a chance to speak to her in person. The glow of the phone screen reflected off his suddenly darkened face. His knuckles turned pale from his grip, and a dangerous curve formed at the corner of his mouth.Inside, Rosalyn was putting the last piece of clothing into her wardrobe. When she heard the door opening, she paused for a moment but didn't look up."You really don't have anything to say?"Eric leaned against the doorframe. His suit jacket was casually draped over his shoulders. His tone

Inside Platinum Club's VIP suite, the lighting was dim and moody. The wine shimmered with a somber red light in the glass.Eric lounged against the leather sofa with his legs crossed, and his fingers tapped idly against the rim of his glass. He looked relaxed, but there was a solemnness in his eyes. When Sean pushed the door open, this was exactly the scene he walked into.He raised a brow and sauntered over. "Well, well. What's this, Mr. Hammond? Dragging me out in the middle of the night to drink your sorrows away?"Eric didn't even look up. "If you don't feel like drinking, get out.""What's with the temper?" Sean wasn't offended. He poured himself a drink and dropped into the seat across from Eric. "Let me guess…"He narrowed his eyes. "You and Rosalyn had a fight?"Eric shot him a cold glance. "You've been talking too much lately."Sean grinned. "Knew it."He swirled his glass. "So even the mighty Eric gets dumped? Wife walks out and you don't even dare say it out loud, h

Eric's fingers tightened around the steering wheel, and his knuckles turned white. He stared at Rosalyn standing on the steps. Dark, turbulent emotions surged in his eyes."Divorce?" He chuckled and pushed the car door open before walking toward her. "Mrs. Hammond, did you forget something?"Rosalyn didn't move. The wind lifted her hair, veiling half of her pale face.Calmly, she pulled a document from her bag and held it out to him. "Here's the divorce agreement. I don't want anything."Eric didn't take it. His gaze dropped to her scraped knuckles that were still bleeding a little, and his gaze darkened. "What happened to your hand?""It doesn't matter." She withdrew her hand. "If there's no issue, just sign it," she said nonchalantly."I promised Grandma that I'll take care of you," he said hoarsely. "The three months aren't up yet. I won't sign it."Rosalyn looked up at him with a blank expression. "Grandma is gone.""So you're in a hurry to cut ties?" Eric stepped closer.
