Ting tong!
"Welcome!"
The sound of the bell signaling customers to come in, made Rose look up. The girl who had just recorded the results of today's sales, was stunned to see an unexpected figure suddenly standing in front of her.
If only she had known it was the man who would appear, Rose would not have said hello and more importantly she would have closed the convenience store earlier.
"What are you doing here?" Rose asked coldly.
She closed the book containing the financial records and put them in a drawer. Rose glared at the man who came in wearing a black suit and hiding his famous handsome face behind a hat.
"I want to see my son." The man turned his face to glare at Rose.
"Your son? Heh! How do I know who your son is." Rose glared at the handsome man who was trying to hide his face behind a black hat.
"Don't play games, Rose. Let me see Kenzie." it was clear when the man suppressed his emotion.
"I'm not kidding, doctor Robert Miller. Since when did you leave your child with me? Do I look like I own a daycare business." Rose's soft scornful laughter made Robert even more furious.
The man suppressed his emotions in such a way when he saw another customer come in. Robert stepped to the side of the cashier as if to choose a snack there.
"Rose! I just wanted to meet Kenzie, your nephew." whispered Robert slowly.
"Ooo my sister's Ruby child? He is asleep, sir. Look, it's nine o'clock at night. What are you looking for him for ?" Rose deliberately spoke loudly,
"Who is he, Rose?" asked a middle-aged woman who was already a regular customer.
"I don't know." Rose shrugged her shoulders as she counted the customer's groceries.
"Be careful nowadays, there are many cases of child abduction. Their motives also vary."
"Is that true?" Rose lowered her voice with a glance at Robert. "Do you think it's like that man?"
The middle-aged woman who seemed to really like gossip, glanced at the direction Rose was pointing at. She watched Robert's movements from the side carefully. Her brows knit together as if she was trying to weigh hard on what was on his mind.
"The most dangerous man like that. Don't be fooled by his handsome face, he could be the real mastermind of the kidnapping."
"Hey, scary." Rose deliberately raised her voice and pretended to be scared.
"Yes. You should take good care of Kenzie."
"Mrs. Tan, what should I do?" Rose bent her face as if she was confused.
"Don't worry I will help you." Mrs. Tan walked up to Robert in a cocky manner.
"Hi, Sir. What did you choose, why have you been standing here all this time?" Mrs. Tan bent her face to see Robert's face, which was bowed under the hat.
Robert, who had clearly heard the woman's conversation with Rose, became very annoyed, especially when the chatty old woman approached him with a probing gaze.
Robert snorted in annoyance and took some chocolates for him to buy. Without answering the old woman's question, Robert immediately placed the chocolate on the cash register and took out a fifty dollar bill.
"Five dollars in total, Sir." said Rose as she put the chocolate into a paper bag.
"Keep the change." Robert grabbed the paper bag and left quickly.
Rose smiled triumphantly at the handsome doctor's back walking away. He was finally able to drive the man away without resorting to violence. Rose felt a little relieved without Robert's presence.
"Suspicious man, watch out for him, Rose. How could he leave fifty dollars without getting his change." Mrs. Tan looked enviously at the fifty dollar bill still in Rose's hand. "You have to be careful, Rose, he could come back and accuse you of taking the money."
"Of course, Mrs. Tan. How about I give these fifty dollars to you. If he comes back, I'll say the money has been donated to someone else, how about it?"
It didn't take long for the fifty dollars to change hands. Mrs. Tan looked at the fifty dollar bill with sparkling eyes. "Thanks, Rose. If there's anything, call me right away, you still have my number, right?"
Rose nodded her approval. Mrs. Tan with a big smile came out of the mini market, all the way she smiled cheerfully because she got the jackpot today, the ten dollars spent has become fifty dollars in her hand.
After Mrs. Tan's departure, Rose immediately turned off the light at the front to indicate that the mini market was closed. The girl then came out from inside the cash register to the entrance to lock it.
However, just as Rose's hand touched the doorknob, suddenly, out of nowhere, Robert appeared. The man pushed open the door which she was trying her best to keep closed.
"Go away, Robert!"
"Let me in, Rose!" Robert increased his strength so that Rose stumbled backwards into the food rack.
"Get out!" Rose snapped angrily.
"I just wanted to see Kenzie," said Robert firmly.
The man looked around looking for a way to the top of the shop. Rose who realized the danger immediately ran quickly to block Robert's steps. The woman fearlessly pushed the man's large body with her two small hands.
"Get out now or I'll scream!" threatened Rose.
"Try it if you dare!" challenged Robert back.
"You think I'm scared, you lecherous doctor?" Rose glared at Robert. "We'll see how they react, if they find out that a famous doctor on television has committed a crime by robbing a small mini market!"
Rose didn't seem the least bit afraid of dealing with Robert, because what she was most afraid of was losing Kenzie. Rose is not willing if the child that Robert never wanted, suddenly was about to be taken by this man.
"You! You sneaky fox!" snorted Robert in annoyance.
"You wolf in sheep's clothing!"
Robert smirked at how Rose was trying so hard to push herself out of there, if she wanted to just hit the woman she would fall to the ground. However, Robert chose to play around by letting Rose's hand muscles tighten from struggling so hard.
"Your strength is strong as well as a sly fox!"
"You should hear my power too if you scream." Rose smirked slyly.
The girl realized that she would not be able to face Robert's physical strength, so Rose ran towards the exit and shouted loudly.
"HELP! THERE'S A ROBBER!"
Robert was astonished by what the woman had done. He really didn't think that Rose's threat wasn't just a figment. Fiercely, Robert walked over to Rose and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Remember Rose, this won't be the last. You're going to suffer the consequences of playing with me!"
"I'm not afraid of you lecherous doctor, cunning human!" Rose slapped Robert's hand roughly.
The girl opened the door wide while preparing to scream again, "PLEASE…."
Rose laughed happily when she saw Robert quickly come out. The threat worked. The man walked across the street and glared at him from a distance.
"Bye-Bye!" Rose waved her hand while sticking out her tongue.
It's been forty days since Ruby left this mortal world. During that time, Robert never bothered Rose and her family. The man did not show the bridge of his nose even though his shadow never appeared. Rose felt reassured because it meant that Robert Miller had completely forgotten about Kenzie. The beautiful girl smiled sarcastically every time she remembered how Robert's attitude seemed to want Kenzie. However, in the end it was all just a mask to seek sympathy. Rose was increasingly convinced that the man would never show the bridge of his nose. A man with a success where he became a role model in every television show and talk show, it is impossible to let his career be ruined just because of the child in the past. The child he never wanted before. "You're worried about, asking ....." The host on a television s
"Rose! What happened? How did our shophouse catch fire?" Romeo was shocked to see the remains of the fire that was still burning in the building. Romeo's body staggered, he almost fell when Dulce's hand quickly grabbed him. Dulce, who was no less surprised, immediately brought the old man to sit on the edge of the sidewalk. The immigrant woman sat beside Romeo with a body that was no less shaking. "How could it be?" Rose hissed in disbelief. Everything she owns, the house where his family takes refuge and her livelihood is there. Rose stared frozen frozen at the blackened building with Kenzie still in her arms. It was nine o'clock in the evening when the fire broke out. They had just arrived from dinner at a
Rose hugged Kenzie tightly. Her body trembled remembering that she was about to lose the little boy. Rose's argument with Robert wakes Kenzie. The boy was crying loudly. "Ssh … sshh, Honey. All is well." Rose patted Kenzie's back gently and slightly shook her body to calm the boy down. "Rose… why are you mad at that guy? He was just trying to help us." Romeo looked at Rose in disbelief. "Don't trust anyone, Dad. You can only trust me. Remember that, Dad." said Rose firmly. She was very worried that the same thing would happen again. She cast her eyes around the street especially in the direction where Robert had disappeared. Rose was afraid that the man would still be standing somewhere and then reappear.
Rose fell into the arms of the firefighters when the man grabbed her as she was about to lift the remaining wooden door from the cupboard in her room. Flames shot out from behind the thick wooden door. It turned out that there was a big hole under the wood, where there was still some burning residue from the first floor. The fire almost hit Rose's body, had the officer not immediately pulled her body away. Rose could feel the heat of the fire even though they were already a safe distance away. Rose's face was about pale for sure, sensing the danger that was about to befall her. 'I have to live and be strong for my family.' "We have to get down soon, Miss. I'm afraid there's another fireball still trapped." The officer pulled Rose's hand to immediately get down. "But, sir. My documents, my son's birth certificate ..." Rose was bewildered to see the remnants of the fire dev
Rose sneaked into the room. She saw her father sleeping soundly only wrapped in a thin damp cloth, while Dulce hugged Kenzie in the narrow bed. Rose wiped the remnants of the tears still reminiscing on her face, and she decided to calm down in the bathroom. There was no warm water in the tiny bathroom and the smell from the slightly clogged toilet stung Rose's nostrils. The corners of the bathroom floor looked yellowed and the drains were rusty and full of hair loss. There was water seepage on the roof and walls of the narrow room. "I have to get them all out of this inn," Rose muttered. Rose tied her shoulder-length black hair up and stared at her reflection in the mirror. Sadness is very, very clearly visible there, a sense of despair and tiredness mixed into one. That beautiful face looked very miserable.
"Yes, she is the one. Because of this girl, our shophouse almost caught fire." A fat woman pointed at Rose with bulging eyes. "That's not all, you know, my shop is three buildings away from her's, my customers run away and there are some of them who don't pay after buying food." Another woman with a body no less fat and curly hair looked at Rose scornfully. "Huh! Customers who want to get tattoos, also all run away. Just imagine how much I lost." Another man with long hair located thirty meters from the fire site did not want to lose to Rose. "You know, Rose, my shop is right next to yours. Because of the fire, customers ran away without paying for the clothes they tried on." The tall, skinny woman snorted in annoyance. More than ten people came to the police station to corner and report their losses from the fire. No one sympathized or simply asked how Romeo and Kenzie were. All of them just
Rose couldn't believe what she was reading. The girl's hands were shaking, as she read the agreement document which clearly had her signature on it. She did not remember the article regarding the rental fee that would be lost if there was damage to the building like this time. Everything written there, Rose also couldn't prove because all her documents had turned to ashes. The woman's body went limp. She held her head which felt very dizzy. After a day of worrying about many things, Rose forgot that she had not filled her stomach with anything but water. She closed her eyes, trying to brace herself so she wouldn't faint. "Don't pretend to be sick, it's all clear what's written there. Come on, get paid quickly." Mr. Oswaldo, the owner of the building, mercilessly rebuked Rose. "Master, restrain your emotions." The police officer fel
Rose was stunned to hear the words of the police. What would happen to her father and nephew if she ended up in prison? Rose was getting dizzy and restless. The fear was so strong that it made her whole body shiver with cold sweat dripping down. She glanced at the nameplate on the table, the policeman was named Sebastian. Rose lifted her head slowly and turned to face the faces that had bullied her for a long time. Strangely, Sebastian didn't seem happy when the offer to imprison her was made. "If she is imprisoned, can we still get compensation?" Mr. Oswaldo's question explained the astonishment in Rose's heart. The woman laughed inwardly, ridiculing her own mind that thought if everyone sympathized, pity her. In fact, they are all only worried about the compensation money. That's right, money and former neighbors who will vote for the ex? "I will pay in installments little by little the mon
