Jenson Bailey suffered from severe face blindness. The morning after our wedding night, right after sleeping with me, he pulled up his pants and warned me coldly, "We got married for business. Profit comes first. We stay out of each other’s lives. Don’t forget your place, Natasha." So I picked up a part-time job at a coffee shop. Jenson said, "That girl has a really clean vibe. Look into her background." When I started singing at a bar, Jenson said, "That lead singer’s voice is incredible. Find a way to sign her to the company." After I set off fireworks by the beach, Jenson stared at me for a long moment before asking, "Miss, have we met somewhere before?" I told him I was married, and he went quiet for a while. "I’m not interested in being the other man. But can I ask when your husband plans to get out of the way?"

Chapter 1

Once upon a time, Harrison Tillman, my father, was one of the most powerful figures in the business world.

However, during a corporate war, he backed the wrong side and became a thorn in Jenson Bailey’s side.

On my 20th birthday, the revenge Jenson had spent years planning finally landed on me. He wanted to marry me to torment me and crush every ounce of my pride. He was a truly vicious man.

At first, he had planned to keep me as a mistress hidden away from the public eye, just to humiliate the Tillmans.

However, he soon discovered that a mistress could live a free life out there while a legal wife must come back to his home.

"Why should she get to enjoy her freedom?"

Just like that, I became Jenson’s lawful wife.

After getting out of bed, he fastened his cufflinks and spoke in a cold, detached tone, "Don’t start having foolish hopes regarding our relationship. A man of my status is never lacking for companionship. You would do well to show some grace, Natasha Tillman."

He went on and on with his insufferable CEO nonsense.

Right then, my personal housekeeper, Emma Hamilton, gave a stiff 90-degree bow.

"Good morning, Mr. Bailey. I’m Mrs. Bailey’s housekeeper. She’s getting ready right now and asked me to wait here for you."

Without changing expression, Jenson adjusted his collar. "Of course, I know that. I was simply asking you to pass the message along. And next time, state your employee ID and name before speaking to me."

"Y-Yes, sir..." Emma stammered.

Jenson straightened his tie and turned to leave.

Later that day, he ran into me on my part-time shift at Alder & Ash Cafe downstairs from his office building.

I happened to glance up at him while carrying a tray of coffee, my face completely bare of makeup.

Jenson stopped walking. He told his assistant, Cameron Lee, to wait outside before heading straight toward me himself. Tall, sharp-featured, and ridiculously handsome, Jenson definitely had the kind of face women lost their minds over.

I was just about to lower my head and pretend not to recognize him, but Jenson reached out and lightly held my arm, surprise flickering in his eyes.

"There's something different about you. You have the ethereal quality of morning fog in a forest. You're the most vibrant woman I've ever met."

As a sheltered young woman who had barely seen the world, I didn't know how to handle that kind of charm. Instantly swept away by the look in his eyes, I even forgot how icy and dismissive he had been to me at our wedding the night before.

We spent the entire afternoon talking in the cafe, right up until he casually said, "My wife is vulgar and boring. She’s nowhere near as interesting as you."

That was when I finally snapped back to reality. Jenson’s face blindness was acting up again. Flirting was one thing, but did he really have to insult me while doing it?!

Before leaving, Jenson made it a point to ask for my name and said he wanted to recruit me into his company.

I smiled and replied, "My name is Summer McCain. I work as an administrative assistant at Northwind Media on the west side."

That very night, Cameron contacted Northwind Media’s HR department. They searched through the entire employee database and couldn’t find a single person named Summer McCain.

"Summer would never lie to me!" Jenson flew into a rage, insisting that Northwind Media was hiding her from him. For the next several days, he kept harassing them.
