Chapter 3

Author: Crimson Citrus
"What’s going on? How is it that we still haven't tracked down those two girls after all this time?"

Cameron stood there trembling, too scared to say a word.

Then, Jenson issued an order: I was banned from his presence for the next two months.

I pretended to run off in heartbreak, but the second I turned around, I called my best friend, Abby Palmer, to help me pack for a vacation.

Honestly, this arrangement was perfect. Since neither of us wanted to see the other, we were soulmates in the most bizarre sense.

What I didn’t know was that Jenson had also left town on a business trip to avoid me.

When I was setting off fireworks by the sea, I suddenly spotted a familiar figure walking toward me. Jenson held a cup of juice in one hand, his charming eyes curving slightly as he smiled.

"Are you here by yourself, Miss?"

I looked around to make sure he was actually talking to me.

Dear God. In a swarm of people this massive, how did he still manage to zero in on me with such pinpoint accuracy?

I lowered my head and quietly told him I was married.

Married! Surely that would be the end of it. This had to be the deterrent that would finally make him leave me alone, right?

Jenson froze for a second, obvious disappointment flashing through his eyes.

I immediately turned to leave.

However, Jenson frowned, as if he were weighing a monumental choice. "I don’t mind. But when exactly does your husband intend to step out of the way?"

I stared at him, completely shell-shocked.

This...

The path I was on seemed to lead straight toward a divorce that would leave me penniless.

"Sir, please maintain some self-respect," I snapped, my anger rising.

Jenson offered a calm rebuttal, "If your husband truly cared for you, he would be standing here by your side watching the fireworks tonight."

The sight of happy couples strolling along the shore only heightened the pathetic reality of my solitude.

Standing under the palm trees, I met his gaze and spoke with deliberate intent, "My husband is actually a terrible man. The day after we got married, he was already thinking about someone else. He detests me and treats me with utter contempt. But given his family's immense power, I'm trapped..."

Jenson immediately exploded with moral indignation. "What a scoundrel!"

The moment he finished cursing, he sneezed. Yet when he looked at me again, there was suddenly a glimmer of sympathy in his eyes.

Before I could react, he seized my wrist. "You need to leave him. I will assist you with the divorce."

I nodded absentmindedly, not taking a single word seriously.

However, Jenson was suddenly gripped by a strange resolve. "Spend the night with me. It's not what you think. It's just that I'm worried… that your face will slip from my memory."

He told Cameron to bring the car around.

Realizing I couldn’t break free, I bit down hard on his hand and bolted while he was distracted by the pain.

Being married to a man with face blindness did have its perks. Provided there were no cameras around, the person responsible could escape right under his nose.

However, the very next day, Jenson stopped me outside my hotel while I was wearing sunglasses and a mask. He demanded to know whether I still had feelings for that "scumbag husband" of mine.

I froze.

Beside him, Cameron tried to persuade me kindly, "Miss, you really are lucky. You solved a problem that’s been troubling Mr. Bailey for years."

Jenson suddenly tightened his grip around my wrist. "I can’t remember anyone’s face... except yours. We really must be fated."

Ha. If he hadn’t already used the exact same routine on me twice before, I might actually have believed him.

I quickly forced myself to calm down and analyze my situation.

Under absolutely no circumstances could Jenson discover that I was the "vulgar and boring" wife he despised. Otherwise, my easy life would be over.

In the worst-case scenario, I’d just start wearing heavy makeup at home so he wouldn’t recognize me.

I shook off his hand and declared firmly, "As long as my husband is still around, I will never leave him."

A dangerous darkness flashed through Jenson’s eyes. "Then, we’ll make him disappear."

I stared at him speechlessly.

'Buddy, maybe learn to recognize my face first before plotting murder.'

The car moved steadily through traffic.Emma sat in the front passenger seat, slowly telling me everything that had happened after I left.Jenson had thrown himself into nonstop work, driving everyone around him to their limits as if exhausting himself was the only way to numb the pain.He refused to see any psychologists. Instead, he fixated entirely on the ophthalmology specialist at this hospital, stubbornly convinced that if his eyes were cured, he would finally be able to find me."Cameron said Mr. Bailey’s office is covered in photos of you. He said Mr. Bailey studies them every day, trying to carve your face into his memory."I stared out at the city lights streaking past the window, emotions twisting painfully inside me.That idiot. The car finally pulled up outside the hospital’s VIP wing. The moment I stepped out, I spotted Cameron pacing anxiously near the entrance. The second he saw me, he was overwhelmed with emotions. "Mrs. Bailey! You made it! The surgery... they

That realization shattered him more thoroughly than anything else ever could."Why?" His voice came out rough and trembling with desperation. "Why would you do this?""Why?" I laughed, tears gathering in my eyes. "That’s my question for you. Jenson, look at me carefully. Who am I?"I’m Natasha Tillman, the woman you married. But have you ever truly looked at me even once? You can’t even recall my face, yet somehow you managed to fall for every single persona I invented. It was never about a real person for you; you were simply captivated by the novelty of a new face."Every word struck like a knife straight into his chest.Jenson staggered back a step, his tall frame suddenly looking unsteady. "No... that’s not true..."He searched for a rebuttal, only to find that his words carried no weight. The truth was undeniable. Despite his open contempt for Natasha as his wife, he had repeatedly found himself enamored with the very woman concealed behind those aliases. The entire thing

That evening, when Jenson came home, I finally volunteered some information. I told him my husband’s name was Harrison Tillman, the chairman of a nearly bankrupt company called the Tillman Group."Harrison Tillman?" Jenson frowned. The name sounded strangely familiar, though he couldn’t place it.He immediately ordered Cameron to investigate. This time, Cameron worked unusually fast and quickly returned with a file. Inside was a photo of my father.Jenson stared at the picture before slowly looking back at me in disbelief. "This is him? You married an old man?"I nodded sadly. "Yeah. It was an arranged business marriage. I didn’t have a choice."Sympathy and fury instantly flooded Jenson’s face."The man is a monster!" He struck the table with his fist. "How could he prey on someone your age? Don't you worry. I'm going to handle this and ensure he pays for what he's done."I glanced at the photograph of my father, offering a silent plea for forgiveness.'Sorry, Dad. For the ha

"Tired of waiting?" Jenson sat down beside me, his voice so gentle it was almost ridiculous. "That woman was being too annoying. It took forever to shake her off."I nearly sprayed cake everywhere."Really?" I lowered my voice on purpose, speaking softly through the mask. "Your wife... doesn’t she treat you well?""My wife?" Jenson let out a mocking laugh. "She married me for money. Whether she treats me well or not doesn’t matter. Just looking at her annoys me."Something twisted painfully inside my chest. So that was how he saw me. I slowly put down the cake in my hand, my appetite vanishing completely."If that's the case, why haven't you divorced her yet?" I murmured."Soon." Jenson looked at me with eyes full of affection. "Once I settle everything, I’ll marry you."After saying that, he apparently felt words alone weren’t convincing enough. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number right in front of me.A second later, the phone inside my handbag started vibrating. Seei

I deliberately teased him, "He’s held me before. He even told me my scent was one of a kind."Jenson’s body instantly stiffened. After a long silence, he muttered darkly, "Don’t wear that perfume anymore. I’ll buy you a different one."I fought hard not to laugh.Despite the irony, a quiet warmth began to take root within me. I suspected that the ease of this newfound lifestyle was beginning to impair my better judgment, as I felt myself gradually yielding to the soft affection he was showing me.That night, Abby called me."Natasha, where the hell did you disappear to? Do you know Jenson's been looking for you like a madman?"I froze. "Why is he looking for me?""What do you mean why? His mysterious soulmate vanished, and now he thinks you had something to do with it. He says he’s going to settle the score with you!"I fell silent.Abby continued ranting furiously on the other end of the line. "He’s unbelievable!
