Chapter 37

Scarlett's pov

"Did you go back to the garden?" Nora asked once I stepped into my room and I stared at her sprawled form on my bed.

"What?" I asked confused and she gestured towards the rose in my hand.

"Oh, this? No, Asher gave it to me." I informed her and her eyes narrowed as she shot up from the bed and approached me.

"Asher gave you a rose?" She asked, her brows crunched in confusion and I nodded wordlessly.

"Why?" She probbed and I shrugged.

"He was just trying to be nice I guess," I muttered as I walked past Nora and dropped the rose on the side table beside my bed.

"He also asked me out to dinner," I informed her and her eyes widened.

"That little punk," she swore under her breath before she made her way towards the door.

"I'll be right back." She called out to me before she shut the door behind her and I waited a few seconds, making sure she wasn't coming back before I crunched low and retrieved the book I had hidden under my bed.

    Chapter 35Scarlett's pov“I didn't mean to make him so upset,” I told Nora as we sat on my bed and as I stared at the book in front of me I felt no sense of accomplishment although I knew this was the first real step in the right direction.
