Chapter 4

Author: lvy
"Scared now?" Caspian sneered. "Should've thought of that before you started playing games."

Two warriors grabbed my arms, dragged me into a dark room, and locked the door without hesitation.

Instantly, darkness enveloped me. I huddled in a corner, my hands and feet icy cold, trembling uncontrollably.

"Dad...Mom...I miss you..." I murmured.

My heart pounded faster and faster, out of control. I don't know how much time passed before I finally passed out.

The next morning, I didn't wake up in that dark room.

I was bound tight with rough hemp rope, the fibers biting into my wrists and ankles until they throbbed. I looked around and realized I was in a derelict warehouse. The sea breeze whipped through the broken windows, smelling of salt and rot.

"Finally awake?" Selene’s voice drifted from behind me.

I turned my head. She was sitting on a rusted bed frame, completely unrestrained, wearing a sinister smirk. Behind her stood a dozen thugs radiating pure malice. I recognized their faces instantly—they were the same rogues who had attacked me three years ago.

"You really are a nuisance, Emma," Selene said, standing up and crouching in front of me. "I thought putting you behind bars would be enough, but Fenris and Caspian still won't shut up about you."

Her expression twisted into something monstrous. "What’s so special about you? I play the perfect little angel, and they still can't let you go. I wanted to marry Fenris, but he actually told me that even while you were in prison, you’re his only mate. He said he’d mark you the moment you proved you’d changed."

She regained her composure, tilting her head with a chilling smile. "Want to play a game? If the rogues kidnapped both of us at the same time, who do you think Fenris and Caspian would save first?"

Looking at the raw hatred in her eyes, everything clicked. The attack three years ago, her role as my "savior"—it was all a staged performance between her and these rogues.

One of the rogue leaders walked over and tossed my phone at my feet. "Call Fenris. Tell him you’ve been snatched."

I looked at the phone, feeling nothing. Who would they choose? The answer was obvious. I had long since run out of hope. I checked the time; Jacob should be close by now.

"Don't give us any trouble," Selene threatened. "Or I'll let these guys have their way with you before you die."

I picked up the phone. While Selene was distracted talking to the leader, I quickly fired off a text to Jacob: I'm at the sea cliffs. Be ready to pick me up from the beach below.

Then, I dialed Fenris.

"Emma?" Fenris answered immediately, sounding frantic. "Where are you? We’ve been looking everywhere. I know you're mad, but running away isn't the answer—"

"I’ve been kidnapped," I cut him off, my voice flat.

"What?!" His tone shifted to pure panic. "Where? Who has you?"

Selene snatched the phone out of my hand. "Fenris! Help us! These men are monsters, they said they’re going to kill us!" Her voice was a masterpiece of terror.

The rogue leader grabbed the phone back. "Listen up, Alpha. If you want these women alive, bring ten million dollars to the sea cliffs. You have one hour, or they both drop."

"I’m coming! Don't you touch them!" Fenris roared.

An hour later, Selene and I were suspended over the edge of the cliff, the churning ocean crashing far below. The ropes were so tight I could barely breathe, but I felt strangely calm. Fenris and Caspian appeared at the ridge, Fenris clutching a black briefcase. Their faces went pale when they saw us dangling there.

"The money is right here," Fenris said, tossing the case to the leader. "Let them go!"

The rogue checked the cash and nodded. "Ten million, right on the mark." Then he flashed a wicked grin. "Problem is, this only covers one of them. So, who’s it gonna be? Pick one."

"What are you talking about?" Fenris and Caspian froze.

"You deaf?" the rogue sneered. "One life per ten mil. Make your choice."

Fenris started to lunged forward. "You bastard! I’ll kill you!"

The rogue immediately pressed a blade against our ropes. "Don't move! One more step and I cut them both!"

Fenris stopped dead. Caspian’s face was a mask of agony and indecision.

"Save Emma!" Selene suddenly wailed, tears streaming down her face. "She’s the one who matters! Save her first!"

I saw the flicker of hesitation in their eyes. They looked at Selene, playing the selfless martyr even in the face of death, and then at my cold, expressionless face.

"Ten!" the rogue started counting.

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

Finally, Caspian gritted his teeth. "Save Selene. She almost died for Emma three years ago. We can't let her sacrifice herself again." He spoke fast, as if trying to convince himself. "Besides, Selene is too weak. She’d never survive the fall. Emma was trained to fight; she’s tough. She can hold on longer. We have to save Selene first."

"Right," Fenris agreed, nodding. "Emma is stronger. She can handle a few more minutes."

"Three!"

"Two!"

"Save Selene!" Caspian finally shouted.

"Yeah, save Selene!" Fenris echoed.

I watched them. Even though I knew it was coming, the reality of being discarded left me cold to the bone. I closed my eyes, a small, relieved smile touching my lips.

The sound of the blade slicing through the rope snapped through the air, and I plummeted toward the sea.

Since you found a better mate and a better sister, I'm out, I thought silently. I hope we never meet again.

As soon as I hit the water, I swam quickly towards the shore.

There, in the blind spot of Fenris and Caspian, a black SUV was waiting for me.

High above, the gut-wrenching screams of Fenris and Caspian echoed as they scrambled frantically toward the edge of the cliff.

"EMMA!!!"

In the days that followed, the gates of Emma’s estate were piled high with unimaginable treasures.Fenris and Caspian sent rare gems, ancient medicinal scrolls, and even the deeds to entire territories. They were desperately trying to buy their way back into her good graces."This is a rare healing crystal, capable of mending any physical wound," a messenger reported respectfully to Emma."This is the deed to one-third of the Silver Moon territory. Alpha Fenris says it’s all yours if you’ll just come back.""Alpha Caspian is willing to sign over the entire Shadow Moon fortune just for a moment of your time."Faced with these fortunes, Emma’s reaction was cold. She walked out to the courtyard and ordered her servants to pile everything together."Burn it," Emma commanded calmly."Miss, these items are worth millions..." the butler tried to protest."I said burn it," she repeated, her voice brook no argument.A massive fire erupted, turning the priceless treasures into ash. Early the next morning, outside Emma’s estate. Caspian arrived with a few followers, looking haggard and deathly pale, his eyes filled with absolute despair. When he saw Fenris already kneeling at the entrance, the two men locked eyes, both seeing the same reflection of agony and regret."Is she inside?" Caspian asked, his voice raw."She is, but she won't see us," Fenris shook his head. "I've been on my knees all night. She hasn't even opened a window."Caspian didn't say another word. He walked straight to the gates and collapsed to his knees. The two once-mighty Alphas knelt in the snow like criminals awaiting sentencing."Emma! My sister!" Caspian screamed at the top of his lungs. "Please, just come out and talk to us! We know we messed up!""We’ll do anything to make it up to you!" Fenris joined in, shouting. "I’ll give you the entire pack! I don't want any of it anymore!"The servants inside the estate were stirred by the commotion, peeking out in shock. The sight of two powerful

At the Northern Territory’s premier Apothecary Summit, Emma stood on stage as the Lead Apothecary, presenting her breakthrough research on the silver poisoning antidote.Dressed in a crisp white lab coat, she radiated an aura of absolute confidence and power. Below the stage, the most respected healers in the region hung on her every word, murmuring in admiration.Suddenly, the back doors burst open, and a haggard, broken figure stumbled into the hall.It was Fenris.Three months of self-loathing and torment had reduced the once-mighty Alpha to a ghost of his former self. His eyes were sunken, his cheeks hollow, and his face covered in unkempt stubble. But when his gaze landed on Emma, a frantic light ignited in his eyes."Emma!" Fenris charged toward the podium, heedless of the crowd. "Emma, you’re alive! Thank god, you’re really alive!"Emma’s hand faltered slightly over her test tube at the sound of his voice, but she didn't look up. She regained her composure instantly and continue

Three months had passed, and both the Silver Moon Pack and the Shadow Moon Pack were consumed by a level of despair they had never known.Fenris spent every day locked in his study, surrounded by empty liquor bottles. He ignored his duties and refused to see anyone, drowning himself in alcohol to numb the agony."This is on you!" a drunken Caspian roared as he stormed into the hall, pointing an accusing finger at Fenris. "If you had stopped me, Emma would still be alive!"Fenris, equally wasted, lunged to his feet and threw a heavy punch at Caspian’s jaw. "You have the nerve to blame me? You're the one who abandoned her! You chose that bitch Selene over her!"The two former best friends brawled in the middle of the hall, their blows landing with sickening thuds. Their subordinates tried to intervene but were driven back by the sheer lethal aura radiating from the two men."Do you know what happens when I close my eyes? I see her face," Fenris sobbed as he fought. "The way she looked at

Selene was dragged into the deepest cell of the Silver Prison, the exact place where Emma had been held for two years. As the heavy iron door slammed shut behind her, the true horror of the place set in. The cell reeked of a sickening stench, the walls were stained with mold and old blood, and the floor was slick with filth."Please, I have money!" Selene begged the guards who had just thrown her inside. "I have jewelry, so much of it! It’s all yours!"The guard looked at her with pure disgust. "You think we can be bought? Emma is dead because of you. Every one of us here hates your guts.""No, I saved her! I'm her savior!" Selene clawed at the iron bars. "You can't treat me like this!""Savior?" the guard sneered. "We all know the truth now. You’re a fraud who almost killed her and left her to rot in this hole for two years."The torture began that very night. Several jailers walked to her cell carrying buckets."Alpha Fenris sent these with his personal regards," the lead jailer said

As the recordings played one after another, Selene collapsed to the floor, her face ashen.Fury burned in the eyes of Fenris and Caspian."You bitch!" Caspian lost it first. He stormed over to Selene and delivered a brutal backhand. The crack echoed through the hall. The force of the blow sent Selene flying several meters until she slammed into the wall. Blood leaked from the corner of her mouth, and her left cheek swelled instantly."No... that's not..." Selene clutched her face and tried to get up, but several of her teeth had been shattered, making her words unintelligible.Fenris stared at her, his killing intent overflowing. His body began to shift—muscles bulging, nails lengthening into claws. He entered his shifted form."Every ounce of pain Emma suffered in that prison, I’m going to pay you back a thousandfold!" Fenris’s voice was low and dangerous. He stepped toward Selene and crushed her right arm under his boot."No! Please!" Selene screamed in terror, but Fenris showed no m
