LOGINI walked in and the whole room fell silent. I could feel various eyes on me, I had the urge to run back to my room but I was not a coward, not after everything I've been through.
I held my head up high, making sure to not meet anybody's gaze. I didn't want to see the looks of disgust and disdain soon. Whispers and mocking laughters reached my ears but I was determined not to let them get to me. “What is such filth doing here? Surely, the rumors of her being alpha’s mate aren't true?” a girl said. I made the mistake of looking at her, her eyes held so much venom, I faltered in my steps. Let me out, let me make an example of her Astrid growled. They aren't saying anything that isn't true I whispered to her. We are worthy of Caelum, Wren she said, her voice firm. He isn't worthy of us, I replied. She fell silent. I saw an empty seat and I walked hurriedly towards it, eager to get out of the spotlight. I placed my hands on the chair, about to draw it out. “This seat is taken." A smug high-pitched voice said. The owner of the voice was a 16 years old with dark hair. I could see the intent to humiliate me in her eyes. “Everyone is seated." I gritted my teeth, annoyance coursing through me. “In case it wasn't clear, I don't want you here. I don't even want you breathing the same air with me.” Her voice was dripped with contempt. I’m going to bitch slap this chick I thought, my palms itching in anticipation. A hand on my arm shook me out of the angry haze that was beginning to cloud my brain. “I leave you for how many minutes and you’re about to cause a scene.” Robin came to my rescue. We had split earlier when a friend of hers caught her attention. She forcefully dragged me away from the girl who smiled at me smugly, I growled softly. “You have to understand, Wren, these people are waiting for you to cause a scene, to prove them right that you don't belong here. You can't give them that satisfaction.” Robin warned once we had found seats. " She started it.” I knew I sounded petulant but I couldn't help it, I knew she was right though. Robin gave me a dry look, her lips curved in amusement. The door opened once more and my mate walked in majestically. His white hair tied up in a small bun that only enhanced his high cheekbones and his angular jaw. His smooth skin was sweaty and he had a towel around his neck. From the looks of it, he just came back from a run. I could feel Astrid drooling and I wasn't far behind. This isn't fair, how am I supposed to resist him when he looks like this? I whined to Astrid. His eyes scanned the hall till they fell on me, and from where I was, I could see the hint of a smile playing on his lips. There was something that bothered me, the last time I saw Caelum, his hair was as black as sin but presently, it was white and it didn't look like a dye job. “Robin, do you know why Caelum's hair turned white?” I asked her, absent-mindedly playing with my food. “Alpha Caelum? His hair has always been white." I could see the look of curiosity she was giving me but I ignored it. That means his hair turned white a really long time ago, probably while he was still a child. I turned my gaze towards the thorn in my flesh again, I saw him picking out extra chocolate muffins. He still had a sweet tooth, I thought, a smile creeping up on my lips. The smile quickly fell away as I remembered our circumstances. This wasn't good, he was already worming his way past my defense, my lips twisted in disgust. I couldn't wait till he falls for me any longer, I had to kill him now. A wave of anger washed over me as I watched him laugh with one of the men that had come in with him. Why does he get to laugh and be happy while I'm still stuck in the past, I asked Astrid. My heart squeezed painfully as I thought of my parents. I had to kill him now, I couldn't wait any longer. A plan formed as I watched him eat more than half of the chocolate muffin in just one bite. Why not go with the usual cyanide? I smirked. “What do you have planned today?" I asked Robin. She chewed thoughtfully. " I was thinking I'd show you around the pack.” She answered after she had swallowed. Perfect,I didn't even have to ask, I thought. A girl stood up abruptly and slammed her hands on the table. I flinched at the loud sound. The hall became quiet. “I can't take this anymore! I can't sit here, in the same space, with her.” She pointed at me, I rubbed my forehead in frustration. I was getting tired of all the drama. “Have you forgotten what her family did to me? To us all?” She whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. I was confused and beyond angry at this point. “What my family did? My innocent parents didn't do anything and they were killed by your former Alpha!” I screamed at her. Her mocking laughter rang throughout the hall. “You don't know, do you? What your precious parents did.” She sneered. " That's enough!” Caelum roared. His violet eyes glittered with fury. “Leslie, I want not a single word out of you on this matter. You're not the only one that lost something or someone.” He growled at the girl. Leslie hung her head in shame. He stood up abruptly and left the hall, his body taut with anger. Leslie hurriedly walked out of the hall shortly after. I looked around as people began to leave the hall, murmurs filling my ears. Uncertainty filled me, what just happened? Robin touched my arm. “Are you okay?” She asked, concerned. " My parents were innocent, I know they were.” I didn't know who I was trying to convince between both of us. " Of course.” She murmured, a sad light coming into her eyes. Weren't they? I thought……Wren's POV White walls, white ceilings. Those were the first things my brain registered when I opened my eyes. The second was the sharp throbbing wave of pain that seemed to push through me every minute. The third thing I registered was the warm, soft hand gripping mine. The hand was connected to a sleeping Caelum reclined uncomfortably on a seat.Goddess, the lights are too bright I thought. I winced and tried to move my other arm cover my eyes but my body protested with pain. I groaned, the sound woke Caelum up.He was by my side immediately,“Wren? You're awake! How do you feel? Do you need anything?” I guess he noticed how I squinted from the light because he turned a knob to dim the lights.I could finally open my eyes,“I feel like I was run over by a truck. A really big truck carrying loads of cement.” My voice was raspy like I hadn't used it in days and my throat felt really dry.Caelum brought over a glass of water and guided the straw into my mouth,”Careful now.” I slowly sip
Wren's POVI barged into Caelum's office slamming the doors shut behind me. I was beyond mad, I had reached my tipping point. Half of the anger drained away when I saw how his eyes lit up when he saw me.The date we had changed something, as much I didn't want to admit it. We had been sending each other shy smiles and he had been giving me a lot of winks which made me blush like a school girl, it always made his chest puff up with pride afterwards.I knew that what was about to go down would alter things but it didn't stop me.“Hi." He smiled boyishly at me and gave a short adorable wave.I looked at him, truly looked and realize that many people would see the tattoos, the lithe body, the white hair, the piercings, the cold yet powerful violet eyes and wouldn't realize of how much of a softie the Crimson Alpha actually is.I knew of his blood crazed side and though I hadn't seen it yet, I couldn't conceal the two sides of Caelum together.“We need to talk." For all my rage, my voice c
Wren's POVThe whispers had grown louder by the next morning. Every where I went, I saw group of people hurdled together whispering loudly. The whispers stopped when I got closer though, I had become the prime suspect just for being the last person seen arguing with Leslie. It didn't help that I was already an outsider for something they believed my parents did, Robin stayed by my side through it all.We were presently at the training grounds watching the men train. My eyes were fixated on a shirtless Caelum. His skin was tanned and golden, he had a full sleeve of tattoos on one arm. He was practically beating the shit out of the other guy, anger radiated off him.“He is very yummy, isn't he?" A voice said from behind me, I cut off the growl threatening to come out.“Hello Jessica." I smiled stiffly. Robin wasn't here to rescue me this time."Relax tight pants, I'm not here to cause trouble." She walked towards me with an elegance that I was envious of. She looked as stunning as she
Wren's POVBeware the love interest….I was slowly going out of my mind, everytime I closed my eyes, all I could see was the image of the bright blue wrapper with red hearts. It was haunting me.My ears were ringing and I could feel arms moving me, voices were trying to talk to me but I wasn't processing any of it.The next thing I knew, I was in a place with lilac walls. My room, my brain sluggishly supplied. Astrid was silent, I guess she also felt the weight of what we had done.I killed someone. Me. I killed Leslie. The ringing in my ears were getting louder and my legs felt numb.“I’ll be back." I heard someone say and the door was shut. Leslie's blood was on my hand, I'm a murderer. Hysterical laughter bubbled out of my and soon, they turned to ugly, heaving sobs. What would the pack do when they found out? I was scared, I was guilty and I was alone. The door opened again and I felt warm gentle hands on my shoulders. I lifted my head up from where it was between my knees, it wa
I was reading the blurb of a book I had picked out of a shelf when I saw a pair of black Italian leather shoes approach me. By the unique smell of rain on earth, I knew it was Caelum.“Let's go on a date." His deep voice whispered in my ears, his breath was minty and warm as it fanned my face. A sliver of pleasure passed through me and I shuddered.“Excuse me, why would I want to go out on a date with you?" My voice came out husky even to my ears and I sounded breathless. Get a grip of yourself, I thought. His eyes darkened and I saw his gaze linger on my lips which were parted. I knew my pupils were dilated in pleasure and my breath came out in pants.I hated him for being attractive and I hated myself for being even more attracted to him.“You owe me, don't you think?" He murmured, one hand came up to hold my jaw. Sparks ignited at the point of contact between our skin and I fought the moan that wanted to escape.I knew that he was talking about the poisoned muffin. I shifted my ga
I snuck down the hallway, looking for the weapons room that Robin had shown me earlier. I found it at the end of the hallway and quietly creeped in after making sure that was no soul in sight.I browsed the shelves, looking for something in particular. I found it sitting pretty in the midst of some pretty daggers. A bottle of cyanide.I smiled gleefully as I grabbed the small bottle, taking with it a small dagger with intricate design and a pretty emerald gem on the handle. I pocketed the dagger.I went over the plan in my head. I had bought a blueberry muffin earlier in the market, something I know Caelum couldn't resist. My ears scanned for noises as I carefully used a needle to withdraw the cyanide. My heart was beating incredibly fast as I slowly inserted the cyanide into the muffin. A part of me was screaming that it was wrong but this was something I had to do.Once I had finished, I quickly replaced the bottle of cyanide and silently, I made my way out of the weapons room, car
