137.SELFISH RIVALRY

Vanessa's POV

I waited until Tristan's car was out of sight before following Declan back inside. I noticed his sore mood earlier when he brought Dame into the kitchen, and how he tried to cover it up with a smile but I didn't question it. But seeing how he was storming into the house made it difficult to ignore.

Something was definitely wrong with him. I knew things had been a bit difficult since we learnt about Dame's health, and I know how much it affects him too, so I decided to ask how he was feeling.

"Declan," I called out. He turned back simultaneously and I walked closer to him, while he waited for me to speak up.

"Is there a problem? You don't look good," I pointed out.

"It's none of your business," he shrugged off and continued to climb up the stairs. His rude tone irks me and I found myself flaring up too.

"What exactly is your problem? You have been acting indifferent since the day we came back from the hospital with Dame and now that we are alone, you either talk about it
