AMELIA’S POV
After being blindfolded for hours, the cloth that covered my eyes was yanked off, and the brightness of my surroundings pierced my eyes, making me wince.
My body ached all over, with little marks indicating that I was thoroughly flogged. I was caught yesterday eavesdropping on the Alpha's conversations, and I was flogged thoroughly as punishment for the grievous offense. As a normal wolf, I should heal, but since I was an Omega, it was going to take longer.
So the deal went through. Lycan King Talon agreed to fight the shadow moon pack, and in return, I would be given to him as a breeder. After my punishment, I was given the order to prepare to be sold off to Lycan King Talon. No one asked for my permission because I was a maid; after all, I was just ordered, or else I would face death.
I looked at the majestic pack and couldn't help but marvel; my pack was trash compared to the Red Claw pack. It was evidence of how successful Lycan King Talon has been over the years; no pack has been able to match his rank.
I was taken to what I assumed was the Lycan king's house. As if the outside wasn't grand enough, the inside was nothing short of royal; everything screamed riches.
The man taking me walked up to an elderly woman and said, “The king breeder, he said he wants her to be brought to him as soon as she arrives.”
The woman nodded and led me into the building, stopping at the gold-carved door. She knocked, and we waited till the familiar, deep voice of King Talon called for us to come in.
My heart hammered in my chest wildly as the door opened. I suddenly felt anxious to go in and face my master. My legs felt like they were made of bricks, heavy and reluctant to walk in. It felt like walking into the room would conclude my fate as a breeder forever.
My wolf yipped in strange excitement, a sharp contrast to how I felt at that moment. I didn't understand why she was so delighted at the thought of laying pups for a strange man; she kept pushing me to go into the room.
I gave in eventually and walked into the room to see the king seated majestically on the throne. Immediately our eyes met, and my wolf purred and pounced around, almost wanting to tear out of my skin.
“Mate” rang through my head, too loud and clear for me to think I heard it wrong.
But how? It's not possible.
His scent wrapped around me as if he were telling me that it was possible. He smelled like burning wood and coffee; it made my legs feel weak. I felt a mixture of fear and happiness—happy because I found my mate but scared because my mate was the domineering man in front of me.
I have been dreaming of my mate since I was little, but nothing prepared me for the reality in front of me. At this point, I was beginning to wonder if I was cursed. I asked the moon goddess for a loving mate, and I got a ruthless one. I asked her for a mate that would clear me of the stigma of an Omega, and I got one that exchanged me as payment to be a breeder. Was my luck so bad?
Lycan King Talon's eyes raked through my body like he could see my soul, but his face remained indifferent. I couldn't tell if he knew we were friends or if he just didn't care. After a few more seconds, he waved his hands and looked away, almost like he was done assessing me and didn't want anything to do with me again.
The woman gestured for me to go out, and with each step, the hope that he would call me back and tell me we were mates dimmed. I was taken away from the golden doors and through a flight of stairs till we arrived at a normal wooden door. The woman said,
“This is your room; the Lycan King will send it to you when he needs your service." Then she left, and I was all alone.
Need my service? It sounded like I was just a baby-making machine, but that was exactly what I was.
I thought it would take a while before he sent for me, but I was shocked when the woman came to my door that night and told me the king needed my service. I was still not prepared for the life of a breeder, and I knew I never would.
I was brought to the King's sleeping chambers, and with every passing second, I was growing more and more anxious and scared. It was raining heavily outside. I almost wanted to give up the consequences and run away, but I knew it was impossible and I would only bring more trouble to myself.
“Come in,” The king's voice came from across the door after the woman knocked. His voice always sent chills down my spine. As soon as I entered, the door closed behind me, and I was all alone with Lycan King Talon.
“Come here,” he ordered. His deep voice made butterflies run wild in my stomach. My wolf liked his voice, and I shamelessly did too.
My head was bowed slightly, refusing to meet his eyes. I dragged my legs and walked towards him slowly as I prayed seriously for the ground to open up and swallow me. I couldn't help but think back on my life at my former pack and wonder which one was better. There as a maid, or here as a baby-making machine?
“Don't waste my time; I don't have all night." Lycan King Talon grunted, a little irritation in his voice.
I increased my pace, seeing the need to look up to see where I was going. Talon was on the king-sized bed in a silk robe; his eyes were as hard as steel and were on me, watching my every move.
When I reached the edge of the bed, he said, "Strip.”
AMELIA’S POVWhen I reached the edge of the bed, he said, "Strip.” My body shook at his request. Heat pooled from within me, but I was too shy to do anything. I heard him sigh and stand from the bed. He removed his robe and tossed it aside to reveal his hard, muscular chest, and oh my! His long, huge member. My mouth watered involuntarily at the glorious sight; my wolf was almost going wild in my head with ecstasy and desire. He walked up to me and grabbed the hem of my flimsy dress, and before I could say anything, he ripped it into two with no effort, exposing my naked body that no man had ever seen. I gasped in shock and struggled to cover any part of me that my small palms could cover. “I told you not to waste my time. You know what you are here for, right?” “Y..yes. It's just that it's my first time,” I confessed, my voice coming out tinier than I intended. He grunted in reply; I couldn't tell what his reaction was when his eyes were still as cold as ice. He grabbed my waist a
AMELIA’S POVIt has been a few weeks since my intimate night with Lycan King Talon, and I have to say that my life has been a living hell. He had sent me out of his room coldly, like I was just an object he used and was now done with. After that day, I was relegated to the job of a maid. It was just like life in my old pack, except that this time my tormentor was my mate.I won't lie, I was heartbroken about it. I understood the agreement of a breeder, but I still couldn't force away my emotions toward my mate and the fact that he had marked me. My wolf whined at me almost every night to connect with our mate, but I was left hopeless because I didn't know what to do. I could only pray I survived the next day after the strenuous labor and maltreatment from my mate.Today, I was punished because I woke up a minute late. For some unknown reason, I have been feeling a little sick, and that's why I missed work. I tried to explain to the Lycan king Talon, but he wouldn't listen. He gave me
AMELIA’S POV“Let's run away from the pack tonight; this is our perfect opportunity.” He said, and I froze. He made sense, but the consequences of running away would be brutal. If Talon doesn't wake up, I would definitely be killed.“But…but… you know what would happen if both of us goes missing. They would assume that I poisoned him and escaped. They'll hunt me down.” I stuttered. “That’s true, but there's no one here at the moment. Now think of what would happen if they saw you here instead. This is the perfect time to escape all this mess, Amelia.” He looked at me with pleading eyes.Charles was right, the pack would maul me down if they saw me here. The doctors already knew who I was.“It's all my fault. I shouldn't have allowed you to get involved in this, now see what I got you into.” Charles muttered with a forlorn look on his face.“None of this was your fault. You only wanted the best for the king and the people. You didn't know that this would happen. I made the herbs; ther
TALON’s POVI sat up from the bed, wincing at the pain I felt in my stomach. The room was empty, but I could perceive a familiar smell, the smell of my mate. Though it was a little as if it were fading, I perceived it.I felt the lingering taste of something in my throat. I had felt Amelia’s touch on my face earlier, it had to be a dream. Because Amelia wouldn't want to get close to me with the way I treated her.The door creaked open and two doctors entered. I watched their eyes widen in shock and their mouths hung open, before they regained their composure and bowed.“Your highness! You're awake.” The bald one among them exclaimed, bowing before me.From the look on their faces, I must definitely have been unconscious for a long time. This sickness was the first of its kind, I had never been sick my whole life. It started with an ache on my shoulder, before it spread through the rest of my body. I hadn't seen it as something serious; thus I ignored the warning signs. It was when I
AMELIA’S POVI froze as I raised my eyes from her body to look at who had snapped her head. Before me stood a creature, about 6ft tall, dressed in a hooded black cloak, covering all its body. Its hands were literally made of sticks, like twigs and which creaked as it drew them back. It had no eyes, just empty sockets with a golden hue in them. I couldn't move, I could hear the rapid beating of my heart. It felt like it could pop out at any moment. I wanted to scream, but it got stuck at the back of my throat.‘What in the goddess’s name was this?’ I screamed in my head. So this was how I was going to die, getting killed by an unknown creature. It stretched it towards me and I shut my eyes, awaiting whatever was to come. My wolf was unusually calm. Normally, when facing threats, she would howl, but at this moment she was quiet. She didn't consider it a threat, but I sure as hell did. Seconds passed, minutes passed, I felt nothing. Slowly I opened my eyes, but the creature was no longe
AMELIA’s POV“Get back inside Amelia, it's a body! A fresh mutilated corpse!” He yelled. I immediately dashed back inside. Charles was already back in the driver's seat, and he rode the carriage with much speed. I moved from the back seat, to sit beside him in the front.“What’s wrong Charles?” I asked. I didn't believe it was only a dead body that made him freak out like that. He said it was a fresh corpse, meaning the person had been recently killed. Which meant the killer might be nearby, or the body was just dumped there.“We are in the forest of the dead.” He dropped.I froze when I heard this, the forest of the dead. I had read about the forest of the dead, back when I was still at the Blue Moon's pack. I sneaked around the library to read books, and some kind maids were kind enough not to rat me out whenever they caught me.According to the books I read, the forest of the dead appears at a place where a massacre had occurred. It appears as a portal on the place, in which victi
AMELIA’s POVI gasped in shock looking at Gamma Raphael, who had a wicked grin on his face.‘Gamma Raphael was a sorcerer? Oh, my!’ I exclaimed internally. How come nobody in the pack knew about this? Since my stay in the pack, I hadn't perceived any sorcerer aura from him. I thought he was just a stupid pervert who abused his power.Charles dropped me down and pushed me gently to stand at his back.“Stay at my back Amelia. This just got much worse than expected.” He muttered.Charles was indeed right. The portal of the forest of the dead was intentionally shifted to the route we passed through. From the current situation, it was obvious that Gamma Raphael was responsible. He was the grade D sorcerer who had shifted the portal. He knew about our escape plan, he had been following us. But why? What business did he have with us? I understood that he would want to play the role of catching a breeder who had killed the king and escaped. But why would he go through all this trouble of even
TALON’s POVAfter waiting for some time, and the maid wasn't back, I began to feel impatient. I ordered another maid to go find out what was happening when the door opened and the maid entered alone, breathing heavily.I raised a brow, waiting to see if Amelia would enter but nobody entered.“Where is she?” “Your highness. I…I…went to her room and I…I…” The maid stuttered.I was having a bad feeling about this.“Speak up.” I said coldly.“I…I saw the body of the head maid, laying dead.” She finally said, shaking. My heart skipped a bit, not because of the news, but because Amelia might be in danger.“Where is Amelia?” “I didn't see her.” She said. For a moment, it seemed like my heart stopped beating. ‘Had she been kidnapped?’ ‘Was she hurt?’ “Get the guards immediately, and search for her!” I exclaimed, trying to stand up from the bed, but I was unable to as the pain in my stomach pinned me down.“Urghh.” I groaned.“Your highness, are you okay?” The maids asked, rushing to check
AMELIA’s POVI couldn't help but smile as soon as I was out of the Westlands. The warm sun of Dawnsville hit my skin, and I basked in it. The cold had been terrible, and as cool as the Westlands looked, I still preferred Dawnsville over it. A carriage was waiting for us as we stood near the border that separated Dawnsville and the Westlands.“Oh, finally.” Cassio exclaimed as he rolled on the dusty, warm floor. The two guards who stood near the carriage, had a bewildered experience on their faces. They tried hard to maintain a neutral expression.“My lord.” One came forward when Cassio stood, and led us to the carriage. Charles was already seated, reading a scroll. I looked beside him, where a stack of scrolls sat.“When you're done dilly-dallying, you should return to your duties. You have a lot to do, both for your people and for your ladies.” Charles commented amidst reading, adding a drawl to his last words.“Ugh, I'm so tired. I don't even have the strength to take a look at even
TALON’s POV“Be careful with the way you widen your eyes, the flies surrounding your wounds might jump in.” I said.“Wha…what are you talking about? Who's Raphael?” He managed to say, amidst his shock.“Tch, you should know better than to respond with this. Do not make me repeat myself.”“I knew it since the time I set my eyes on you, you're a demon. Bastard!” He spat.“Any new names for me? That's the only thing you've been calling me for the umpteenth time.” I rolled my eyes.“Speak up, while I’m still being all nice and chatty. I personally don't like using the black salt to make culprits talk, unless I’m forced to. Now just be a good boy, and spill out everything. Who knows, I might get you treated and let you leave.” I shrugged.“I don't want your damn offer, I was even planning to kill myself before these idiots stopped me.” He glared at the guards, “I already made up my mind to die, do you think I’d be scared of you?”“You might think you'd get away with all this, but I promise
TALON’s POVI let out a sigh when we arrived at my pack. Making preparations for the war was not at all difficult, my men were always prepared and ready. All I had to do was to get hundreds of my men set, against thousands of their own men.“My lord, the guards at the torture room reported that Gaius attempted to claw out his heart himself. He wants to kill himself. Should I prepare the carriage?” Dimitri informed. This makes it more obvious that he was hiding something. I knew he had something to do with the missing gamma, Raphael. There had been no success in finding Raphael. Gaius had been so intent on joining my pack, before all this. I figured out that he was involved with someone from my pack, which was Raphael and now he was nowhere to be found.“No, I’d take a bath first. Tell them to keep watch till then.” I said, and Dimitri answered hesitantly with a nod. “My lord. If he kills himself, then we wouldn't be able to get anything. The other men we captured seem practically use
AMELIA’s POVIvana used her broom to struck the hand, as it put up a fight trying to crawl up the broom to lunged at Ivana. She muttered some words, and the hand became paralysed immediately.“It's the hand, the one that attacked me at the portal.” I whispered.“You're bleeding badly.” She muttered, as she dropped the broom and came to me. She sat me on the bed, while she stood to bring a mashed, green gooey substance. She wiped off the blood, and I gasped when I saw how deep the wound was, it would leave a scar. It claws really went deep.I hissed from the biting sensation I felt when she applied the gooey substance.“Sorry, it’ll only hurt a little.” She assured.“What's this?” “It's a healing paste, made by an ancient divine herb maker. It was discovered by the grand witch. We witches, go to her domain yearly, to receive bottles.” She explained.“You have a ruler too, I thought witches were independent.” I asked, as my gaze drifted to the hand which laid on the floor with no movem
TALON’s POVThe two days in which Rosette had to spend with Dimitri were over, and we were headed back. Rosette found it hard to control her emotions as we left. I could tell she was already feeling something for Dimitri, my judgement earlier was wrong then.Them being together was something that was close to impossible. I wasn't ready to let go of one of my best men as a matter of fact, Charles gone was already enough. I didn't want to lose one more again. It was hard to find loyal and trust worthy men, who weren't plotting something against me or were after my power.Even with Charles betrayal, if I were to pick between him and a new beta, I would pick him over and over again. Setting his escape aside, he was loyal to the core and a formidable training opponent who could match my pace in a physical combat. As for gamma Raphael, I was yet to uncover what happened to him. Some said he was dead, but his body was never found. Others said he escaped, but there was no reason for him to do
AMELIA’s POV“Alright, alright. Let's not talk about him anymore, our focus should be on Charles and Ivana.” Cassio said, to ease the tension.“My apologies for speaking about him like that, at the end of the day, he's still your mate.” Scymodus muttered.“It's alright, I didn't pick offence.” I smiled.A knock at the door made us keep quiet. Our movement paused, as we simultaneously looked at each other.“Who could that be? I’m certainly not expecting any visitors. I declined all appointments.” Scymodus said in a hushed tone.“What if it's Charles and Ivana?” I whispered.“Then they would ha—”“Open the door for goodness sake!” A familiar voice exclaimed, it was Charles.“No, no, no. Don't give me that look. You should go get the door instead, Ivana would skin me alive.” Scymodus objected, as Cassio kept on forcing him to get the door.I stood up to open the door myself.“It's so good to be home.” Ivana muttered as she entered, closing her eyes probably to enjoy the warmth of the hou
TALON’s POVI couldn’t shake the feeling, she was here. I saw her, Amelia. I would stake my life on it. The way her amber eyes locked onto mine for that fleeting moment, I felt her presence in every bone of my body. Yet now, it was as if she’d disappeared into thin air.Rosette stood in front of me, with a puzzled look, like I had gone insane. I could feel the lie in her tone, though her words seemed harmless enough.“Charles wasn't here. And like I said before, I was expecting him to come with you.” She said in a firm tone.I stared at her deeply, waiting for her to make a mistake, but she gave nothing away. My wolf growled low in frustration, pacing restlessly inside me. It didn’t add up. I knew what I’d seen and felt.“You’re certain?” I muttered in a cold tone. “No golden-blonde hair, no amber eyes, no one who stood out to you in any way?”Her brows furrowed, as she sighed. “I swear, Talon. No one like that has been here. I don’t know who you’re talking about. What the hell is wro
AMELIA’s POVA veiny, long hand gripped my leg as I got into the portal. I tried hard to get away from its grip, but it proved futile as it kept trying to drag me out of the portal. Scymodus held my hands tightly, as Cassio held him from the other side as they were already in the portal.“Pull harder!” Scymodus yelled. It was a wonder, how a hand had so much force against we three. I noticed the veins on the hand were a dark purplish colour, and it had sharp claws which pierced my skin. After trying to wriggle out my leg with no effort, I decided to use my other leg to push, and that was a great risk as I could fall out of the portal. But I had to do it, there was no time. With Scymodus gripping me tightly, I brought forward my other leg and pushed it down with as much force as I could muster. It released my leg, and made to grab it again but I dived immediately into the portal with Scymodus’ pull. The force emanating from inside the portal caused us to part our hands, and we began f
Chapter forty-five:TALON’s POV“Amelia.” I muttered softly as I darted my eyes to the other side of the wall, someone was watching me. I was sure as hell that it was her. My heart began to beat rapidly, like it had never done before. I walked towards the wall, where I felt her gaze.“Bastard!” Dalton growled as he struck me with the fake magic with intense force, on my left arm. I felt a sharp burning sensation, as my skin started to melt.“Yessss! Die bastard!” He hissed, “You always think you’re invisible, now look at how pathetic you look at this moment. Very soon, you’d be without a left arm. Guess what? I’ll make sure to paralyze each and every part of your limbs. Then I’d boil you alive in front of your soldiers, and my pack.” He laughed out loud.“Isn't that wishful thinking? You barely did anything.” I chuckled dryly.“I see you're still being arrogant. Maybe if you reduce your arrogance, I might give you a painless death.” He smirked.“What's the use of reducing it if I woul
