Jack's POV.

Her cheeks rose up in the cutest blush I'd ever seen after I said that.

“that's fine,” she muttered, still keeping her distance.

I groaned as I tried to sit myself up and that's when she came closer, pressing her hand on my chest. The sparks from her touch sizzled on my skin with desire.

For a moment, I couldn't think straight.

All I could see were those beautiful grey eyes encased in her round face. My mate was nothing short of beautiful. She had one of those faces that was too hard to stop looking at.

“Don't move, I hear that worsens injuries,” she whispered innocently, her eyes glistening with the fear of losing me.

That made me wonder if she was the one who brought me here.

“You were the one who saved me?” I asked, and she nodded.

My heart palpated with relief as I smiled, “Thank you mate. You have no idea what this means for me.”

And what I said was the truth.

I knew if my father found out about the rogue brutally attacking us, he'd first scold me to death before helping me out.

“Alphas should be strong! Alphas should be able to face whatever life throws. No pack needs a weak leader!” He'd always yell at me.

But that certainly means Alphas were immune to pain, did it? He'd always bragged about how many attacks he won effortlessly on his own and that did more to irritate me than motivate me.

“You know, I'm happy that you're okay. I was already crying because I thought you'd never acknowledge that you're my mate.” Her soft voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

My brows furrowed, “Why wouldn't I acknowledge that you're my mate?”

Her gaze lowered and I felt the scent of sadness hovering over her. She was beautiful and she was my life saver. Of course I was going to be with her, there was no stopping this.

“You're an Alpha and I'm an–”

The door flew open, cutting her off before she could finish.

“You shameless omega!” A woman barked as she charged in, walking straight to my mate and pulling her up with a menacing expression.

My heart skipped a beat.

My mate was an omega?

Fuck.

Was the moon goddess playing a cruel joke on us? It was an abomination for an Alpha and an Omega to be mates.

So how was this possible?

“Moth–”

“BAM!”

The woman landed a hot slap on her cheek and she stumbled back, her face reddening as tears streamed down her face.

“I've told you not to use that filthy mouth of yours to call me mother!” She snarled.

“Do something Jake! They're hurting our mate!” My wolf yelled in my head, making a growl escape my lips.

The woman's gaze darted towards me and her eyes widened like she'd just seen a ghost.

“Oh, you're alive! Thank the goddess for this miracle!” She joyfully threw her hands in the air but even her little act of happiness still pissed me off.

My eyes were fixed on my mate whose body was trembling as she wiped her tears.

Just then, her mother moved closer to her, grabbing her arm and pushing her so hard that she fell on the floor.

“You're supposed to be at Alpha Brian’s place for your punishment, you brat. You better get going before I start punishing you right here!” She hissed, and Nova immediately rose up, shaking as she stood by the door with a helpless expression on the door.

My wolf whined as she gave me one last look before she turned to leave.

“Wait!” The word escaped my lips before I could stop them, pulling my mate to a halt.

“Alpha? You don't need to worry about her. She's a very disobedient omega who's getting punished for disobeying the pack rules.” Her mother explained, contempt written all over her face.

If this woman knew that it was my mate she was treating like that, then she'd have thought twice.

But I couldn't tell her that.

And even though omegas were the lowest in the rank, it didn't mean that they should be treated like animals.

Back in my pack, omegas were servants but they were treated with respect.

This was unacceptable.

“What was her crime?” I asked, my eyes still fixed on my mate.

“Crossing the pack borders without permission,” her mother quickly replied.

That must have been when she came out to save me.

And she was being punished for that? Impossible.

“Well, I don't think she should–”

“Oh Alpha Jake. I understand that you don't like mistreating people. I've heard a lot about you but this girl needs to be disciplined,” her mother insisted and before I could say anything else, pack soldiers appeared at the door.

They pulled on either arms of my mate as they dragged her away and panic surged through me at the thought of what they were going to do to her.

Since when did a mother grow to resent her child so much that she punished her for the smallest things?

With my mate gone, the woman in the room turned to me with the wildest smile but my expression remained icy.

“It's a good thing you survived. Our pack warriors came to your rescue after we perceived the scent of rogues. We got our pack’s best healer to treat you.” She pressed her hand against her chest like she was telling a heartfelt speech but I didn't buy the lies.

Being an Alpha meant that a lot of wicked people often liked to act noble just for favors in the future.

I know exactly who saved me, and I'll make sure to get her out of here.

Just then, the healer walked in and his jaws dropped as he stared at me.

“This is a miracle. May the goddess be praised!” He exclaimed excitedly.

But none of their joyful shows was my problem.

My mate being punished was my predicament.

She didn't deserve that.

“Please, bring that omega back here,” I ordered.

I spotted Killian who was standing amongst the guests, apparently still waiting for me to get back. And on t

The eyes of every wolf was directed at me and the murmurs were impossible to not hear.“Hmm, I'm not surprised she's moved to this new Alpha. That's the typical attitude of an omega who's a whore.”“Yeah, or maybe she's pained that she couldn't seduce Alpha Jake so she's trying to make him jealous.”“I don't think Alpha Jake even had anything to do with her. He's a respected king and they're step siblings. She was probably the one getting too close because Alpha Jake was nice to her.”“Who knows what she must have done to this Alpha to have gotten his attention.”The taunts were endless and it felt like every new one I heard clung to my skin. I'd never felt so ashamed of myself. My breath became uneven, my insides melting from the rushing feel of embarrassment.Killian’s face tightened and

Nova's POV.Later that evening, the palace was bubbling with chattering from left and right, the sounds of muffled music coming from the closed hall. And I could only hear the sounds, smell the aroma of food in the air, but I wasn't permitted to go in.According to Alpha Darius, I was disrespectful and he didn't want to set his eyes on me when he's celebrating something that made him happy.Surprisingly, my mother was in support, claiming that I offended Luna Corvina and I deserved to not be invited. I had no idea since when my mother started liking Corvina that much.It was suspicious but I didn't think much of it.My mother probably just wanted to be on Luna Corvina's good side.Yes, it hurt that I wasn't part of the celebration but on the other hand, I didn't care. Let me go!” I snapped even though I made no moves to free myself.Being in such close proximity with Jake was beginning to give me a strange feeling of hotness. I needed to be away from him before my wolf started her sexual talk.“So you're going to move on so quickly? You really want to overlook our bond just like that?” He asked both questions at once.“Didn't you move on too? Why are you so bothered by who I talk to? I literally just met him and you're already making things up,” I grunted, trying to push him away but he stayed put.His hands moved from the wall, resting on my sh

  • Mated To My Alpha Step Brother   Chapter Forty Five

Nova's POV.Today, I was going to train.I didn't just want to be strong emotionally, I wanted my wolf to become strong as well. I felt like my weak wolf had contributed to the disrespect I got from the people around me.So I was going to fix that.I'd train day and night, until I felt just as strong as a warrior hewolf. As I found my way to the training ground, I heard mumuring and lingering stares from members of the pack.“Look at her, she thinks coming back to train would “make her wolf suddenly strong.”“She's truly a disgrace to the royal family. I heard that her wolf is so weak that she can't even fight a fellow shewolf without sustaining injuries.”“Have you also noticed that she hasn't found her mate? Maybe she's actually cursed, or maybe the rumors of her frolicking with the Alpha King are true.”“No that's not possible. The Alpha King would never have anything to do with a weak omega like her. Plus, she's his sister.”My fingers curled tightly around my sword as I pushed th
