The temperatures that morning dropped to way below freezing, deadly frozen puddles of ice littered the floor below me where with the added bonus of the thickest fog I believe I had ever seen in my life, I was forced to navigate my way through the woods and hoped I would be able to locate the hounds. Thankfully with my training, I was able to map out my surroundings and move with caution closer to where I believed the hounds were. It was truly as though someone had painted the entire area a thick white colour, it was hard for me to see even an inch away from my face. Many times, I did ask myself if turning back would be in my better interests, but knowing I had to feed the hounds and I was already halfway through, I trekked on. After what seemed to be hours, I arrived at the hound's pen to see them outside waiting for me, such a look of relief sat on my face once I saw them again. I knew Alban had said he sent someone to feed them but unless I can see it, I always worry. Each smelt
I didn’t dare utter a word as we followed Albans parents towards the hospital, the same bright halls I was forced to hide from the day I was released from the hospital clicked under Albans mothers' steps, as always, she was the loudest person around. Before I would have never taken notice of her mannerisms or the way in which the people around her acted, but now because of the little conversation I had heard an old friend have, it’s as though it’s all I could watch as we carried on. She walked in a very dominating manner; it was as though she was either waiting for someone around her to slip up so she could scold or attack them, or she wanted everyone to see she held such greater power than them or her mate did. Each person she’d approached, they’d take a few steps back and seemed to avoid eye contact with them as though she was going to rip their heads off if they did so. The longer we carried on down that corridor and the more people we would pass, the more I began to stare at
Upon hearing the news that this unknown visitor wanted to see me, Alban became even more possessive than usual and demanded that we leave now to determine who was waiting for me. I did assume it would only be he and I that left but what seems to be a running theme here, everybody but my mother and brother left to see with us. On a regular occasion this would piss me off, this person claimed they wanted to talk to me about something rather important, I believed there would be a level of privacy. But with what I remembered surrounding Max and this person also claiming to be from his pack, it felt nice to feel as though I had so much backup if something was to go wrong, even though I knew Alban would be able to kick their asses in a second. Walking through the rather busy pack house due to the time of day it was, everyone seemed to look over and all move to the side to allow us to have a little walkway through, the intense questioning looks which poked holes in me would have caused m
Opening up the file and beginning to take a read at what the investigators found, my mind slipped away from the world around me and what conversations everyone was having. The report began to list the events that day and when in which they happened, according to the document the first sighting of the hounds running through the woods was seen around the time I would normally feed them, some pack members going on a morning walk spotted the danger and soon jumped high in the trees to prevent the attack, but were sure to mind-link everyone else warning them. Not even a moment later, all four hounds burst into the centre of the pack and began to attack any person they saw, ripping them apart or biting them and running to get another person. As I wasn’t there until the end of the attack, I couldn’t see what they were attempting to explain but from the sounds of it, the hounds weren’t attacking to eat but as though they were in some kind of battle and needed to handle the threat swiftl
Once I nodded my head allowing Bennett to see that his assumption was correct, he began to angrily pace the area as the thoughts of his son intentionally, opening the pen so the hounds would attack people swung around his mind. I understood his anger and felt such intense anger myself, not only due to Max knowing what was going to happen and put the hounds in a position where they could have been killed but for what he did to his pack members. When he took his role as Alpha, he stood before all his people and the officials and swore to always put the safety of his pack members before anything. He swore that if it came to it, he would stand in the way and die for his people. But now to see that he bypassed all of that and was the sole reason that so many people were either killed or savagely wounded, it went against everything he should stand for and truly shows how little he cares about his people but adores the power. “I cannot understand why Maxwell would do such a thing, this
The area remained in that stunned silence after Bennett spoke, none of us knowing if he meant what he was saying or that he even knew what Alban was planning on doing to Max if he had the chance. “What do you mean?” I asked breaking the silence a little looking over at Bennett, yes I wanted Max to pay and having the help from Bennett who was on the inside would be beneficial, but this was his son after all, the only one to carry on his bloodline, killing him would be such an impactful and damaging thing for him to do. “I will help you any way that I can to ensure Maxwell is adequately dealt with for all that he has not only forced you to endure but each member of that pack who was brutally killed for Maxwell’s own selfish agenda.” He growled only further validating what he said before, this leaving me even more shocked than before. “I will assume you have not filed a report to the W.M.O regarding the rapes?” Bennett asked seeming to snap out of anger filled rage and back to the
Once I had a moment to compose myself with Alban, we headed back to the pack house so he could continue with any pack work he had scheduled for the day. Due to the wolfsbane still technically, in my system and with the latest information we learnt about Max, Alban straight up refused to allow me to go off on my own which meant I was sat in his office while he worked away. Knowing I would be twiddling my thumbs waiting for him, he said as I was still his personal assistant, I was to look through all of the paperwork he was signing and ensure he ticked all the right boxes before putting it into a file so it could be sent off to the relevant officials and the documents required to be sent off to the W.M.O each month so they can keep up with the regular affairs. “Is that why Lincoln and I left to surfy the pack borders yesterday and map it all out, as in this document the W.M.O are requesting the documents?” I asked after reading through one of the documents Alban had to sign, where h
My body ached even worse as Alban unlocks the front door and leads me inside, as much as I always say I want to tough situations such as this out, I still had trances of wolfsbane in my system which made my body feel as though I’d ran some sort of marathon! With all the walking I’d done, it wouldn’t take me long to lay down and fall asleep. “It is around dinner; would you like me to fix you something to eat?” Alban asked after helping me take off my shoes and leaving them by the door, whilst I walked into what I think to be the living room shaking my head. “I’m really not hungry but thank you.” I mumbled out before the comfiest sofa I believe I had ever seen in all my life came to view; it resembled the huge one Lincoln had in his home but looked even more inviting. Walking towards the softest fabric that was sending me a siren call, I turn around and allow myself to fall backwards and land in what felt like a cloud. The way the sofa seemed to melt into my body sending me more c
My breath came out sharp and fast as I squeezed so hard onto that tree branch, my legs crossing over one another praying that the branch would hold my weight a little longer. But it wasn’t just me who could be out in the open, Russell lay on the floor right at the base of the tree with the snapped rope behind him, Samual continuing to take steps closer to the tree and him. It wouldn’t take him much to spot Russell sat in a heap by the tree with the rope and connect the dots and spot me dangling on a branch, we of course had the training to stop him but with that blade and the amount of harmful substances around him, we couldn’t risk so much going wrong. That’s also something we were taught in training, of course you do not show any fear when going into battle and trust your instincts and training, but don’t simply walk into each situation looking for a fight. If you are to just face each battle the same way, that would be deadly. No two individuals are the same which would also me
Following behind Russell who held the map in his hands, we continue deep into the dark but also, eerily silent wood. I didn’t know if it was because I knew who was hiding within the thick trees with his dangerous plot or the time of night butI felt myself draw closer to Alban a little more, worried for not only Polly’s life but also, ours too. Alban realised this and didn’t seem to mind wrapping his arm around me, even though Russell was slowly proving himself as trustful with the help, with what he had done not hours before, it was clear he would much rather Russell had remained in that dungeon and him think of the most awful of punishments he could bestow upon him. “Alright, they’re around a mile ahead.” Russell informed us all but this time, kept his voice down in case Samual was close by waiting for Alban to send some men to stop it. “What’s the plan?” Lincoln asked also keeping his voice down but ensuring his eyes snapped from side to side surrounding us, we didn’t need a s
Once everything that I’d asked for was lay before me on the table and I was now out of my beautiful but dirty dress from the party and into some fresh clothes, I watch as Russell began to brew the first concoction which was going to help us locate Polly. Richard, who hadn’t woken up since his fight with a table was taken by my parents to the hospital to make sure he didn’t have any injures whilst Lincoln and Alban both waited behind me, both still dressed in their suits from the party which now after everything, seems like days ago. I could feel and see that Alban wasn’t the happiest of Alpha’s in this moment, the guy he had seen fighting me was now stood right beside him working away as though nothing was amiss. “Alright the hyper focus antidote which you are to drink is almost done brewing, now with the information of what you were able to see in that bag is pointing towards a poison called The Death Watcher, it’s given that name as it’s deadly, anyone who drinks that will die i
Russell soon holds my eye contact seeming to know instinctively, what was going around my head in that moment. Russell and I spent everyday with each other at The Full Moon Pack, learning from Bennett what he wanted from us and the tasks that we were given. I was not the only person from another pack which Bennett was training, when I first arrived at The Full Moon Pack, there were around twenty others who had been sent away by their Alpha’s in hopes of receiving life changing training. But one by one, each begin to leave and head home, the training was not for the faint of heart and after begging their Alpha’s, they were given the green light to leave. Something at the time I wished Richard would have allowed but he never did, by the end of that first year, it was only Russell, and I left in the program. This meant we were forced to lean on each other whenever the training became too demanding, I would try and speak to Max, but he’d never understand where I was coming from as his
Now I knew Russell was on his way and he may understand what I was trying to say more than anyone, I lay in my state a lot calmer than before. My parents had moved over to Richard to check his injures, he hadn’t moved since he fell through the table, and I think they worried he was dead. Lincoln did what he always does when he’s nervous, he paced up and down the room with his hands on his hips waiting impatiently, for the guards to bring Russell. Whilst Alban remained with me on the floor, my head still in his lap as his hand ran through my hair, I knew he wanted to keep a brave face as he was the Alpha and he’d chosen for all this to happen, but I could see in his eyes how upset he was about to become if we couldn’t stop Samual in time. Breaking the worried silence which seemed to cling to each wall, the doors open once again but this time instead of me getting held by people, it was Russel who was dragged in, chains around his hands and feet as two guards held onto him. “The p
The room grew silent as all eyes sat on Alban, whatever was to happen next, it was truly down to what he decided. My head continued to fall a little with my eyes opening, instantly locking with my mates. Who looked over at his brother with such a deep rooted anger and hatred that it spurred from his body like a foul odour, it was clear if he saw the chance, it would be Samual who would be dead on the floor. “Hunny, you don’t have to make the decision.” Polly said from across the room, her voice shaking with uncontrollable fear, no one was to know what Samual would do to her if he had the chance. “You’re such a selfish bitch! You’d try and make him push his mate to the side for you! You care about no one but yourself!” Samual screams over to Polly with such anger, the sheer volume hurting my ears and allowing a painful moan to leave my lips. “We can talk this out, I’m sure we could resolve whatever issue this is about.” My mother spoke again trying to dissolve the issue not knowi
Once he had fully injected me with the liquid, it was as though I had lost most of the control of my body, the chains around me were the only thing holding me up as my head fell around. Samual was right, I was aware of each and everything that was happening around me, but it was as though I had sat on a fairground ride for hours spinning me round and around. My entire view was distorted as my eyes closed and fluttered opened every few seconds, while Samual began to move around the lobby rounding his things up to get ready. “Alright that’s everything set, let’s get you out.” He said throwing the black bag with all his terrifying tools over his shoulder and walking towards me, the chains soon becoming looser where I couldn’t help my body falling forward. Thankfully, before I could hit the marble floor for a second time tonight, arms wrap around my body allowing me to dangle in the air for a moment. I couldn’t help the fear which pulsed through my veins, it wasn’t as though my mind
Intense ringing in my ears begins to pull me out of my unconscious state, my body felt as though it was slummed forward but held back by something wrapped around my body. Opening up my eyes slowly, throbbing from the side of my head brought me out even quicker, the vision of the marble flooring from Alban’s lobby filled my vision first before my body, chained to one of his dinning chairs registers in my head. Panicking a little, I sit up and begin to attempt to fight against the chains to free my hands, but whoever had chained them around me, knew what they were doing and prevented me from getting very far. “I would advise you against pulling at the chains, I located the best pair money could buy so your attempts will only lead do an injury.” A familiar voice tells me from somewhere around the room, lifting my head up higher I spot Samual, sitting on the bottom step of the marble staircase watching me as I sat on the chair. “I know my statements may sound contradictory, but I
After the little blood bath that had unfolded in the middle of the party, I believe everyone knew it was time to head back and reciprocate from what we’d all just seen. Getting home and washing all the blood from me sounded perfect, but due to the players involved and everyone having so many questions, I was led into the pack house instead, Alban’s suit jacket over my body to offer me some comfort. Sitting in his office on his lap, everyone seemed to begin to talk over each other, my parents were amazed at what I could do but also, worried for my safety due to Max. Albans parents began to ask so many questions and if an attack on The Full Moon Pack would be wise whilst Lincoln, mind-linked back and forth with the border guards in order to ensure not a thing such as this could happen again. All I could do in that moment was sit silently, watching the world go by as my mind raced with so many conflicting thoughts. Flashes of the battle I’d just fought in filled my head, the way he k
