Tomorrow was the wedding and mum and dad were going to arrive first thing in the morning for breakfast. I couldn’t wait to see them. I just hoped seeing their faces wouldn’t make this harder than it already was.

True to his word, Elio has kept me in here since our dinner. I have only caught glimpses of him when I have gone to use the bathroom. Marquis brings me my food twice a day, but otherwise I am confined to this room.

Honestly, I genuinely prefer it. This is my safe space and no one can come in here without my permission. I’m used to being in small spaces. This is a luxury for my cell. I have a bed, a view, food, a bathroom. I get small amounts of conversation with Marquis when he brings me my food. I am truly happy.

At night though, my dreams still haunt me. I have barricaded the door that leads to the secret corridor and steps. I don’t want to go to some torture chamber or witness that again. I have enough of my own demons I don’t wish for any more.
