Liana's POV

The tension in the air was so thick, it could serve as a blanket to chase away the cold, but instead of doing that, this very tension seemed to be pressing down on each and everyone at the table, whilst silently daring any one of us to break through it. I would have gladly volunteered, but something told me this wasn't a matter I could easily interrupt and not be scorched, one way or the other.

If I tried to support Kieran's thought process, he would definitely get mad and it could create a rift between the new found Richard and I had established, and vice versa. But at the same time,I couldn't sit back and watch the cold war brewing between the both of them.

Neither men said anything for the next couple of seconds, and I took that as my cue to really take them in. Richard sat straight, his eyes focused on the meal in front of him. Any sane person could tell that dinner was the last thing on his mind, but if there was anything else I noticed, it was the small smile

Chapter 134Liana's POV I couldn't speak. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to form any words. It felt like the part of my brain that was concerned with making up words had temporarily shut down. I really did try to kick start it, but it just didn't work. Nothing seemed to be working. A wave of silence washed over us. It covered everywhere like an almost thick blanket, and as more time, I felt it settling into the edges and the corners of the room. It was suffocating to say the least, but I knew Kieran couldn't break it, not even if he tried. If he decided to ask me another question, the tendencies that I wasn't going to answer was sky high. “Liana.” Kieran's voice broke through my thoughts. I blinked back a couple of times, willing my eyes to adjust to the present. As expected, he was still in his spot, his eyes fixated on me like he was still waiting for my answer. “I'm listening.”“Come on.” He prodded again. “I thought we already agreed on not keeping

Liana's POV I couldn't believe my ears. I didn't want to. The world around me stilled, and for the next couple of minutes, all that could be heard was the rapid thump of my heart, or perhaps Penelope's, I wasn't exactly sure yet. Whoever is was, I didn't want to believe that the words that had just slid past Penelope's mouth was the truth.“I really tried my best, ma'am.” Her voice echoed all around my head. “But all of my efforts were futile. I wasn't able to come up with any useful information.”I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell at the top of my voice till the whole world heard me, but I couldn't. A small part of me even didn't mind marching up to Richard's office at this point and asking him what the fuck he was hiding. But I couldn't, not even in a million years. Doing that was only going to unlock a chain of consequences for me. The tendency that whatever new found friendship we'd found was high, and coupled with the risk of Kieran shutting it down was also included, so th

Liana's POV The only sound that could heard in the nearest mile radius had to be the constant tapping of my feet against the ground. It echoed all around me, and no matter how hard I tried to stop, I just couldn't bring myself to do so. It was a bad habit at this point but it was the only thing keeping me sane. If I didn't do this right now, then best believe I would lose my mind before the next thirty minutes. Where the hell was she??My eyes fell on the clock high up on the wall, and a groan slid past my lips. Usually, the days fly by, but today, today of all days, it was as if the world had decided to come to a standstill. No matter how many times I glanced at the clock, the time just wouldn't budge. I got on my feet immediately, before heading to the door. I'd intentionally decided to stay indoors today, just so I wouldn't be tempted to do something I would regret, like harassing Penelope when she was yet to find out the info I wanted from her. The rest of the day was tortu

  • Mated To The Alpha King   Chapter 129

Liana's POV It was one thing to spy on someone, and it was another thing to finally find out what you'd been suspecting for a long time, or at least, something close to the truth. But what had to be the worst of them all, was the fact that sometimes one would have to go to certain lengths to find out the said truth, and usually, it spawned as far as speaking to someone you never saw yourself talking to. It could be a long lost friend, someone you cut communication with, or someone you just hate, and in my case, the latter was my only option. I'd always heard that fate had a snarky sense of humor but I wasn't sure I'd experienced it up until now, because it was so hilarious that the one person I hated, was now going to be playing a role in finding out what the hell Richard was up to. Shit. A small groan slid past my lips, as I ran a hand through my hair. I'd been doing that for the longest time now, and when I said I was nowhere near feeling better, I wasn't telling a lie. If a

Liana's POV Time seemed to crawl to a halt between both of us. I wasn't one to be overly dramatic, but when I said the scene in front of me looked nothing short of something straight from a thriller or a horror movie, then it was best you believed me. I couldn't breathe, not because I was in the wrong, but because Richard's gaze had refused to leave mine. There was a certain glint in his eyes that I didn't like one bit. It didn't reveal too much, but it definitely wasn't ordinary, and I hated it. I waited patiently for Richard to break the silence between us. The air was thick with tension, and if even I used a butter knife to tear a huge chunk of it, i wasn't sure it was going to make any difference. I had no idea what was going through Richard's mind, but it definitely wasn't ordinary thoughts. Was he mad that I had walked in? But I'd made sure to knock, so why would he have a problem with that? If the dessert I had in my hands weren't perishable, then best believe that I wou

Liana's POV Plot twists they said always made life funny. They also said it added a little spice to an event, but in all my life, I wasn't sure I'd heard of a scenario where a plot twist added a little bit too much spice to the mix, because right now, I had just experienced one, and I wasn't sure the end result was going to be pretty. Time seemed to slow to a halt as I watched what would unfold next. My hand sat pretty in Kieran's, but it burned, and I didn't have a doubt to be able to see that he was burning up because he was mad. All he was doing was simply radiating the anger he felt to me and probably the other man. Kieran had no idea I was analyzing his mood. Instead, he stood rooted in his spot, his eyes trained on the other man. His eyes were bloody red and I was sure if looks could kill, then the other man would be six foot under the ground by now. “What the hell do you think you're doing?” Kieran let out slowly, and when I said I felt the entire place shake, I wasn't l
