“Good. I believe you, Emma. Now, do you believe me when I say you can trust me? I will never hurt you, and I will take care of you during your time with me.”

The truth?

Lies?

Half-truths?

I settled on the truth. Lies rarely got me what i wanted. “I trust that you won’t hurt me, but I don’t believe we are mates. I-I-I can’t trust myself to make that decision right now.”

“I’m not asking you to make any decision, Emma. We will spend some time together, and in time you will see that I’m telling the truth.”

I bit my lip and nodded. “Yes, I trust you.”

Out of all of the men I knew, Ethan was always in control, he never lost his temper or used his anger against his pack, I wasn’t stupid, and I had heard his pack talk about him. None of them said anything bad. If anything, they talked about how amazing he was as an alpha, one of the best they had ever known.
