Riley POV

“You ready for your first day of school?”  My dad asked as I bounced into the kitchen.

“I guess.”  I said pouring a glass of orange juice.  “It’s not like I had a choice, now did I.”  I perked my brow at my dad.

“Stop being so dramatic.”  My little sister, Raden, skipped into the kitchen. “Actually, I’m excited.”  She sing-songed.  She always does that, it’s very annoying.

“You know no one would ever believe we are actually sisters.”  She sighed.  “We are so opposite of each other.”  She said kissing my check.

“But you still love me.”  I gave her a cheeky smile.

“You two better get going, you need to meet with the principal before class.  They are expecting you.”  Dad said.  “Raden, you’ll be on your own, so please…”

“Really dad?”  She huffed. “You should be telling her that.”  She jabbed her thumb at me making me scowl at her.

“Hey, as long as they behave, there won’t be a problem.”  I shrugged lazily, closing my left eye.

“Both of you behave.”  Dad scolded.

“Yes sir.”  We said in unison giving him a salute.

“You’ll be on the same campus but different buildings, each grade level has its own building.  So, you won’t see each other until after school.”  Raden and I shared silly faces between each other.  “Both of you…” dad snapped getting our attention, “need to be at the pack house right after school. You…” he pointed at me, “still need to meet the Alpha and his family along with the Elites we will begin training. Raden will be assigned as Luna’s personal assistant and help care for the young pups when you’re not with Luna.” He continued to explain.

“Oh yeah, she gets the easy job.” I chuckled. She stuck her tongue out at me. “C’mon brat, let’s get going, get this day over with.”  I grabbed my bag and keys.

“Right after school!!!! DO NOT BE LATE!!!!!!” Dad yelled as we walked to the garage.  I waved at him.  “Bye dad!”  We shouted as we walked out.

Raden is usually Miss Chatterbox but she’s really quiet on the drive to school.  “What’s the matter?”  I glanced at her.

“What if they don’t like me?”  She whispered.

“They will love you.”  I assured her.  “If they don’t want to be your friend, well then, it’s their loss.”  I winked at her.  “If you have any problems, you just call me.”  I told her as we pulled into a parking spot.

“I’ll be fine.”  She giggled.

“Okay, then get going, make sure to meet me here right after school.  Don’t make me go looking for you.”  I warned her.

“You got it sis.”  She said and walked towards her school building. “Love you!” She yelled out. I flashed her the love you hand sign.

I watched her walk away and made my way to my side of the campus.  “Do you smell that?”  My wolf, Seraphina, asked. 

“Smell what?”  I asked back. 

“He’s here.” She said all giddy.

“Who’s here?” I asked with frustration, this is not something that I am in the mood for. 

“You’ll see.”  She grinned.

I walked into the office to get my schedule and locker number. “Hi, I’m Riley RedFang.” I smiled.

“Oh yes, we have been expecting you.” A tall grey-haired female smiled back at me. “Mr. Mitchell, Ms. RedFang is here.” She said over a speaker.

“Ms. RedFang, welcome.” Mr. Mitchell greeted. “I am Principal Mitchell. Your dad informed me that you would be arriving.” He said, extending his hand.

I took his hand. “It’s very nice to meet you, Mr. Mitchell.”

“This is my assistant, Ms. Cole. If you need anything or have questions, please let her know.” Mr. Mitchell said as we walked out of his office.

“My sister, Raden, is supposed to check in with the middle school,” she started, “would you be able to let me know if she got to her first class, okay?”  She asked him.

“Yes, I will check into that and let you know as soon as I get word.” Mr. Mitchell assured her.

“Thank you. I hope you understand, she’s my little sister.”

“I understand, I have two younger brothers and two younger sisters.” He smiled.

“Hey Mr. M!” A female chirped out.

“Remi,” he called out to the cute, perky, little blonde with neon green highlights came skipping towards us.

“People still skip?” I chuckled to Seraphina.

“I guess so.”  Seraphina giggled also.

“Hey Mr. M, what’s new?”  Remi asked.

“Damn, she’s way too perky for me.”  Seraphina sighed.

“Remi, this Riley RedFang. I’m assigning you to show her around and help her in any way she needs.”

“You got it Mr. M, she’s in good hands.” Remi bounced around.

“Good luck and have a nice day.” Mr. Mitchell smiled and went back to his office.

“Hi! I’m Remi Stone.” She introduced herself bouncing on her toes.

“Hi, are you always this giddy and perky?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Dear Goddess, yes, she is always like this.” A male voice growled from behind her. A shiver shot down my spine.

“It’s him!!!!”  Seraphina purred out. 

“Sera, who are you going on about?” I fussed at my annoying ass beast. 

“Uh…our… Mate!”  Escaped my lips along with the male behind Remi. 

“Duh!”  Seraphina giggled. “He’s so yummy.”  She purred.

“What just happened?”  Remi asked looking between me and the male.

“He’s so hot!!”  Seraphina bounced around my head; she’s giving me a headache.

“Rylen, babe.” A red-haired female called as she wrapped her gangly manicured fingers around his neck and kissed his lips.

Seraphina went wild; “she’s touching what’s ours!!!”  She roared.  I felt pain rush through my chest.  I was able to control my anger, more like Seraphina’s anger.

“Hey Remi, who’s your new friend?”  The red head asked as she hung off of MY mate.

“This is Riley RedFang. Riley, this is my brother, Rylen and his girlfriend, Stephanie.”  Remi introduced.

“RedFang? As in RedFang Defense?”  Rylen asked.

“The one and only, my dad is the head honcho.”  I smirked.

“WOW!”  Remi said with wide eyes.  “A real badass?”  She said in awe. I shrugged at her.

“Your mate must be proud.” Stephanie giggled.

“I wouldn’t know, I don’t know my mate.” I scowled at her fighting internally with Seraphina.

“Awe, you haven’t met him… or her maybe.”  Stephanie gave me a fake pout.

This Stephanie slut kept pushing my buttons. “I didn’t say I haven’t found my mate; I said that I don’t know him, there is a difference.”

“O,” she said. “Well, Rylen and I have decided that when or if we find our mates, we are going to reject them so we can be together.”  She proudly said kissing him again.

I took a deep breath fighting the pain that was shooting through my chest. “You would do that?”  I asked. “You would intentionally harm your mate? You would break the bond that the Goddess herself created?” I asked still recovering from the kiss that the slut left all over his neck.

“Yeah sure, I mean we don’t know who they are, we have no connection to them besides this way we know that we really do love each other and not letting some stupid bond or pull tell us who we are supposed to be with.” Stephanie said looking back at Rylen. “Isn’t that right, babe.” She cooed at him.

“Yeah…you’re the one I love and the one I want to spend my life with and carry my pups.” He told her looking down at her with affection.

“All I hope is they are strong enough to withstand the break.” I told them.

“She’ll be fine.” Stephanie said so non-challantly. “We better go if we don’t want to be late.” She said pulling him away.

“C’mon Riley, we have our classes together for the first half of the day and then conditioning and training.” Remi wiggled with joy.

“She is definitely WAY to perky for me.”  Seraphina groaned.

A group of males walked by us and as they walked by one of them decided he was going to be stupid and reached out and squeezed my ass.  “Mmmmm, nice and firm, just the way I like my females.” He whispered in my ear.

“Oh really?” I whispered back smiling at him. I heard a low growl. I rolled my eyes; he has no right to be mad. I slowly turned my attention to Mr. Grabby hands, I gently dragged my fingertips up his arm and over his chest. I could see his breath start to increase and his little bulge make an appearance. I slide my hand around his neck; I lick up the side of his cheek. I felt him shudder. I snicker evilly; “you have three seconds to take your filthy hands off my ass.” His eyes widened as I squeezed the breath outta him. He released his grip and gasped for air.  “I didn’t give you permission to touch me. So, I suggest that if you want to keep your LITTLE soldier, you will NEVER touch me again without MY permission. Do I make myself clear.” I asked him. He nodded. “Use your words.” I whispered to him.

“Yes, I understand.”  He panted.

“Ms. RedFang, is there a problem?” Mr. Mitchell casually asked.

“Oh, not at all, Mr. Mitchell.” I said slowly releasing my hold and letting the male relax a little. “I was just explaining to my new friend...” I looked at the male.

“George.” He breathed out.

“George, how it’s very impolite and inappropriate to touch a female without her permission.” I whispered in his ear. “Right Georgie?”

“Yes.” He cast his eyes down.

“Well, George, meet me in my office. Ms. RedFang, you, Remi and Rylen are needed at the pack house. You will be out of school for a week or so; all your assignments have been emailed to you and Ms. RedFang, here are your books.” He said handing me a stack of books that I shoved into my book bag.

“Mr. Mitchell, I’m supposed to take my little sister home after school.”

“She will be joining you; a guard is bringing her as we speak.” He told me.

“I need to grab my books; I’ll meet you at the car.” Remi skipped off to her locker. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Riley!” I heard Raden yell out; she was running towards me at full speed.

“Sera, brace yourself.” I warned her. Next thing I know Raden is throwing herself in my arms. “Hey, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing! I just had a great day.” She smiled. “I need to go the little girl’s room before we go.” she whispered and started doing her little bathroom dance.

“Come with me.” The guard said. I perked my brow at him. “It’s right over there.” He pointed to the left of us.

I stepped closer to him, “you touch her, you die.” I warned him and he bared his neck in submission.

“I would never, she’s just a child. She reminds me of my little sister.” He assured me.

I nodded to him in understanding. “Rad, don’t go anywhere or wander. She likes to wander, so please keep an eye open on her.” I told him.

“I won’t wander.“ She told me with a huge grin. I was quiet as I watched her, and the guard walk towards the bathroom. 

“Oh, babe, I left my books in my locker, I’ll be right back then we can go.” Stephanie said with a huff, kissed his cheek and sashayed away.

After a couple of minutes, I broke the silence. “So, since you are choosing to stay with your girlfriend, don’t you think it would be a good idea to reject me now?”  I scowled at Rylen.

“What? No, not yet.” He purred at me. “I haven’t even had a taste of you yet. Who knows, I may decide to keep you.” He said sliding closer to me. He was driving Seraphina insane with his scent surrounding us. He leaned in and inhaled then placed a kiss on my neck where his mark was supposed to go. It took everything I had not to react to his touch.

“Either you reject me now or I will.” I told him. He smirked at me. “Do you really think that I would allow you to make me your plaything?  To be your back up plan?” I glared at him; he had an air of arrogance to him. Seraphina was getting angry; she wanted her mate, but she wasn’t going to be nobody’s second choice.

“Nope, not doing it.” He said popping the P. “I dare you to reject me.” He smirked. “You will be in just as much pain as I will be.” He said dragging his fingers along my cheek.

“Yeah, sure I will but it shouldn’t be too bad as there is no bond between us.” I told him. “You’ve not acknowledged me as your mate.”  I reminded him.

“You wouldn’t hurt your wolf by denying her, her mate, would you?” He chuckled.

“If it means keeping her from being broken-hearted for the rest of her life, then I will, and she understands and is willing to suffer the pain. She doesn’t want to be second choice either. We deserve better than that. So, what’s it gonna be?” I challenged him.

“Be my guest.” He motioned. 

He didn’t believe that I would reject him. He thought that the bond would keep me from rejecting him and hanging on to him. Little did he know that I am not that kinda female. I pushed him away from me, stood strong and proud, “I, Riley Seraphina RedFang, reject you Rylen Stone, as my mate, now and forever more.” As those words left my lips, my heart clenched and the air was sucked outta my lungs, Seraphina and I were able to quickly recover. 

Rylen on the other hand fell to his knees and clutched his chest.
