Chapter Six: Marking her
Laila Pov“Get up.” Those were the first words I heard, it wasn’t Atlas comforting’s tone instead it was the harsh octave of the woman that hated me, Ayesha. My eyes peered opened and surveyed around, it was still dark from the window.“Don’t make me repeat myself shiro, get up. It is time. I frowned as I rubbed my eyes but made no effort to stand up from the bed. It was still dark why was she disturbing me this early? Had her perso- the rest of my words drowned away in the cold water that poured on my body.“The hell-“ I pranced out of bed, wet and very much cold.“Your initiation starts in the next ten minutes, we have to go.” Ayesha said instead of apologizing. Initiation? What was she talking about? She read the confusion on my face and sighed placing her hands on her hips.“Met me at the front, don’t let me come back here for you.” She said and walked out. I brushed the sticky hair away from my face, I changed out of the wet clothes, luckily Atlas had brought some clothes yesterday. I wore the joggers and slipped the hoodie over my head. I packed my damp hair in a high pony tail and stepped outside, I found Ayesha at the base of the stairs close to the door.“You made the right choice.” She led me outside where the cold air whipped past my unprotected part of my skin. The place was empty except for the fire in the distance, she continued up the road while I fumbled to not fall over.“What is this initiation for?” I asked.“You are joining the pack, we could just brush it aside and let you in automatically but we need to show you how important we treat everyone in this pack.”“So I’ll have to respect traditions?” I asked,“Yes, you’re the first outsider who is coming into this pack after ten years.”“You guys don’t let a lot of stranger here then, so you’re telling me everyone here was born here.”“Yes, except for me.” I smacked my lips together as I put everything in place. “Ares brought me here, he saved me from Morgana,”“You are the outsider-”“Were, I belong here now. You don't.” she corrected. “Until the initiation is completed.”“Right,” we reached the fire just in time, I had expected the entire pack house to be present but from the number of people available it was just those that are important that were here.I caught sight of Atlas who was with Ares, both brothers had there eyes on me as I was lead to the middle. My eyes scanned around wondering who the rest of the men were, most of them had long hair that was packed back, only a few left theirs to flow. They were tall and wore boring brownish clothes, the fire however helped the golden reflection in their eyes.“Elders and generals of the white moon pack, welcome to our first initiation ceremony in twelve full moons, the moon goodess has been kind to us and presented the rare white wolf in our hands fulfilling the prophecy of year's back.” Alpha Ares bold voice thundered in the night, it made me shiver. He paced around in his jeans and bare chest, he was closer now while he spoke, my eyes roamed his chest. There was a deep scar that ran through it and my mind boggled at what could've happened to him. The sleeve of tattoo around his right arms ignited another curious blaze, what was the story behind the ink?As if knowing I was watching him, his olive green eyes found mine and his lips thinned in a line.“Do you accept to be a part of this community, to abide and defend, till your death?” His words drummed in my ears and I stared back at him.“I-” I didn't hear my words but then my eyes moved on to Atlas who encouraged me to say yes. He was the only one I could trust here for some reason even with Ares being his brother I wouldn't want to give him that faith.“Yes.” I said slowly. Ares stared at me like I was dumb and I cleared my throat.“Yes, I agree to be a part of the white stone pack.” I said firmer and bolder holding Ares gaze. Something in his eyes switched and his glare hardened and they diverted some place. At first I though it was my chest but then I realized it was my neck.“Atlas, come.” Atlas obeyed his brother and together they came for me, I staggered but Ares had a warning gaze that sent the message across; DO NOT MOVE.There warmth engulfed me as they blocked my view.“Take off your shirt.” Ares ordered and I scowled.“What? No! It's freaking cold!” I whisper yelled but he wasn't taking my answer.“Lai, please, trust us. Take off the hoodie.” Atlas said softly. “Please.”“You don't have to plead with her, she agreed to do this.” Ares hissed at his brother. It was a great thing I wore a tank top underneath the hoodie, I tugged it over my head and sucked in my breath as the cold brushed against my bare skin. How did the guys manage to remain calm under such harsh weather?I held the hoodie by my side and stared at them, now what?Atlas refused to keep his eyes on me while Ares shamelessly stared at my face and allowed his eyes drift down to my chest, it was obvious he was staring at my hardened nipples and the swell in my breast. For a moment my cheeks heated up and I tried to cover my self with my arms but Ares string hands stopped me.“Dont move.” he said and he moved closer to me, “Atlas, get into position.” my brows furrowed as Atlas stops beside me and held my other arm.“What are you guys going to do to me?”“We will be marking you.” Atlas answered softly and my eyes widened.“Marking me? Why? I don't understand-”“You ask to many questions, Lai.” Ares's voice was soft yet intimidating. I turned to Atlas for answers but his eyes were focused on my neck.“You have to trust us Lai, relax too.” his mouth closed in on me, my breath hitched in my throat and my head rolled back as both brothers sunk their canines into my neck.Chapter 100- The final mark(updated version)Laila POV“Ayeesha?” her name rolled off my tongue and I turned to her with my brows creased, her dark brows were no longer knitted and were more relaxed and she stared at the device in her arm ignoring the shocked look on my face.“You two were supposed to take care of them since, what was the hold up for?” she said casually and Andrea popped a mint in her mouth while Calum stared at me, he was the only one paying attention to my reaction and the other two didnt mind my break.“Ayeesha- how? No, this has to be a lie, there is no way this is- this is- is true.” I muttered words stuck in my throat, Ayeesha finally turned to me and placed her hands on her hips, i retraced my steps, my legs moving on its own accord. My eyes narrowed in anger.“Why? How-”“You probably didn’t hear it, you were passed out on the slab and you missed it,”“Missed out? missed out? How much of a traitor you are?-”“Oh please, you had the nudge that something was off
Chapter 99- The Third Strike- Part 2Ares POV“Thats enough Morgana,” Atlas stated, he was at the top of the elevation she had just climbed down from. Morgana’s face turned into a deep frown and then her eyes met with the three who were next to her, they exchanged a look that made me uncomfortable. Instead of dispersing as i expected they didn’t move, they remained in their spot like they weren’t aware of the intruder in their midst.“What is? The disrespect that you have for us, then yes, i agree. It is enough.” Morgana replied, “Where is your brother? I’m exoecting two peas in a pod, not one.” As if sensing where i was, she turned and our eyes met, her face which was blank stirred into a smile. It was impecable that she could find me through the crowd- i have sure blended in and far away but she could sense me out of the majority.“Come on, I think this would make a perfect reunion,” she opened her arms wide and then like metal to a magnet, the blade which had been tossed away from
Chapter 98- The Third strike- Part one of the ending.Maya POVThis was it. I was going to get my revenge on Laila for what she did to me. As I left the room, I stared at her one last time before I closed the door behind me. She didn't bother to spare me a glance nor did her eyes plead with me like i wanted, they were hard to read.“You two are done already?” I turned to the guy who was leaning by the wall, he had probably been there for a while. Malcolm, was it?“There’s not so much to talk about, our last meeting was not memorable,” I answered and glanced down at my watch, we had six hours until the main mission commenced.“I thought Morgana was the queen of holding grudges but you-” he pushed off the wall and walked closer to me. Something about Malcolm bothered me, it wasn’t the fact the Morgana blindly trusted him with her all or maybe it was the emotions bridled in his eyes, there was something he was hiding and I just couldn’t figure out what but it bothered me.“You are the qu
Chapter 97 Laila POV“Maya.” Her name tasted like ash on my tongue and my eyes fell on the woman I didn’t think of seeing soon, not here, not with the woman who was going to cause chaos. She stared down at me with her hands crossed over my chest, her hair was packed in a high ponytail. She was dressed in her signature black outfit, the turtle neck covering up her neck leaving her head as the only available skin showing. “Wait, you two want to know each other?” Andrea asked and for a moment I turned to the girl and watched her mouth drop open.“You didn’t know? Laila and Maya are sisters.” Another voice came from behind me, it wasn’t intended but the hair on my neck rose as the aura of the new person in the room clouded the place.“Wait- they are? You are kidding me right?” Andrea said but my blood rushed as i wanted to see the woman behind me, she stayed there driving me to the wall in suspense, i inhaled deeply.“Come on, cheer up Maya. You’re being reunited with your sister after
Chapter 96Atlas PovMy black uniform fit into my body and i brush the imaginary crease off my shoulders then i straightened my back, my face stirred in the mirror and i noticed the black eyes underneath my eyes and the hollow around. I looked like a dead man, there was nothing to tell me that would make me look more alive. I didn’t want to look more alive when she was missing, right under my nose.“You got this Atlas-” I said and opened my door at the same time another door opened. It had been more than twelve hours since i last saw Ares and now that the both of us stood at the empty hallway, we had no choice but to face ourselves. He didnt look any much better than i did, from his hair which were tousled and his eyes which were a bit hollow, his face was darker than usual and it wasnt the color, just his countenance.“Morning.” I greeted but he only nodded and walked down the stairs with his hands by his side. I sighed and followed after him, we made a beeline for the front door. De
Chapter 95Ayeesha POV“....thats all i remember.” I started and rubbed my forehead, another pain was coming on. I resisted the urge to grab the glass of water from the counter, there were so many people around me and they all wanted answers, especially those of the council. Ares isnt here yet neither was Atlas, Just Derek, Estelle and Kevin were the faces that didnt make me want to hide away. I know that i am the chief commander but sometimes i want to step out of my position and just be, but i know that it cant happen.“Thats enough for today.” Derek said and walked up to my bed side, he faced the rest of the council members. “She has clearly not fully recovered from the poisoning and need to gather her thoughts together.”“Its been three hours, our chances of finding the girl is very low.”“We all know that, but rushing without a proper plan isnt going to be helpful either is it?” he asked and they murmured between themself. I glanced down at my palms and rubbed them together.“I’l
