He'd just been seen

Chapter 2

By: Tofunmi Nikky

"What?!" The one with grey-blue eyes asked.

"You don't remember us?" The other asked and he raised his brows at them.

"You are..." He trailed off as he goes through his memories to remember them.

They both looked at him, expecting him to say their names. "Who is Connor?" He asked and Connor smiled with his deep dimples showing.

"And you are..." He trailed off but then his eyebrows twitched.

"Tyson." He said and Tyson grinned in excitement.

"Thought you forgot me so soon after you left." Tyson said jokingly with a feigned, sad pout and Xander managed to smile as he shared a knowing glance with Connor.

They soon cut the contact and he signaled to him. They followed him inside and his uncle looked up. "Oh, see who is here to see Xander? I guess you all must be so mad at him for not even giving you calls or even sending regards." He said and Tyson shook his head disapprovingly.

"At least he is here now. I forgive him." He said as he sat down freely on the dining table.

"I see mum has cooked more delicious meals." Connor said as he sniffed in the aroma before humming in savory.

"Mama is the best cook, Xander. What do you think? Your favourite sausage roll. Have you forgotten?" Connor asked and Xander's Adam apple bobbed in reluctance as he did not want to interfere in what they were saying but he forced a grin on. "Mother has always been a very good cook. If not the best... But I no longer have a fancy for sausage rolls anymore." He said and the smile that was not his mother's face slowly loosened. He saw it and clenched his fists in anger but instead he picked up

He saw it and clenched his fists in anger but instead he picked up the tissue and wiped his mouth.

"I am tired already. Need to freshen up and have some rest." He said and his mother smiled at him.

"Sure. Xander. Would you love to have some fruits since you were little?" He looked between his uncle's gaze and his mother's pleading eyes. He exhaled and nodded his head positively before going upstairs.

He pushed the door of his room open and he went in. He was not expecting anything luxurious but it was just to his taste. He exhaled and slumped on the bed before closing his eyes for a brief moment.

But then his phone rang and he jerked up instantly. Looking into his phone's beep, the message read, "Welcome back, buddy."

He scoffed and rolled his eyes at the message.

"What do you think, Lucas?" He asked his wolf who stirred up and stretched out.

"What about we go for a run tonight?" Lucas asked and he nodded his head.

"Definitely." He said and went straight to the bathroom.

*****

This is what he loved.

Running on his own through the forest, wind rippling through his thick shiny coat without a care in the world.

This is what he'd always do each night, race through the woods in his wolf form. It is always exhilarating.

He slowed to a light run and tilted his head and looked to the black night sky. The moon shone brightly giving him a somewhat bright view of his surroundings.

Not like me need the light though, he has his werewolf enhance eyesight along with his hearing, smell and strength.

He slowed his pace to a point that he wasn't running at all. His pack; The Blue Moon pack hasn't changed a bit. Maybe the woods are no longer safe like before anymore-who knows.

If a human had seen him right now, he would have just looked like a sliver blur.

"LUCIA!''A deep authoritative voice sounded from a far distance, causing him to tilt his head, snapping it in the direction.

"Come back here, Lucia....!"the booming voice now sounded like it was about to explode. his curiosity got the best part of him that he didn't know when he started running back out of the woods.

He slowed to a stop at the edge of the woods so he could shift. He trotted back to where his belongings were and shifted.

He could hear the sickly popping sounds his bones made as they rearranged themselves back to his human form.

When he shifted for the first time, he was sixteen, it hurt so much he thought he was going to pass out. But now, at the age of eighteen and after two years of shifting back and forth, he hardly feels a thing.

He carried on and stopped at a clear path to observe his surroundings. He anticipated hearing the voice again but none came.

After some time, he exhaled and reluctantly shifted back and made to turn around. He wanted to go back a little into the woods when he noticed an unusual strange feeling surrounding him.

One that tells him something isn't right. He braced himself and turned his head sharply to where he'd almost turned away from.

And there at a far distance is a girl standing beside the window with a woman walking angrily away from her and out of sight. The girl put her hand on her left cheek which immediately gave him the idea that she'd just been slapped.

A sudden smell aroused; filling his nostrils. A smell of apple and freshly sanded wood; it was mouth watering. But before he could discover what those were, it got mixed with the air.

He looked up to where his previous eye directions were and suddenly, like a flash, the girl's eyes came searching through the dark night till it settled on Xander's red own.

Xander didn't wait a second more when he turned his back at the unclear figure and trudged off as fast as he could. But that doesn't change the fact; He'd just been seen.
