Samantha’s Pov

“You don't get to do that. You do not own me; I am not an object.”

“It doesn’t matter. You are mine, so think twice before you bring up another discussion involving Xavier.”

I looked at him as he spewed that shrewd nonsense. I couldn't believe he was actually saying this; I couldn't believe Luca would say something so nonsensical to me. My lips trembled with rage as I sat up straighter and propped my hands on my lap.

“So I am an object, then?”

He looked up from his plate and stared at me. “We are not doing this again, Samantha. I don't have time to go around in circles with you.”

“Circles? Circles?! You’re the one who thinks I’m your object, something to own. You treat me like a prize to be paraded at a horse race.”

His lips twisted in annoyance and he stood up abruptly, clenching his fists at his sides.

“I’m leaving,” he announced, turning his back as he walked toward the horse. I stood up immediately.
