Samantha’s Pov
I gulped as I listened to his words. “You knew we were mates, didn't you?” I asked. He studied me for a while before nodding. “Why didn't you say anything?” “Would you have listened?” he countered. True… but he had no right to keep it from me. “Let's get you back to the castle.” Alpha Luca carried me in his arms, and we left the woods. ‘So much for escaping. This is our mate, Sam. The moon goddess has granted us a second chance, mate.’ ‘Our mate rejected us and left us with the despair of our children. Alpha Luca might be mean and not who we wanted, but the moon goddess must have a reason. We should stay here, get stronger and better,’ Aldrina finished. If I stay here in the Silver Rose Pack, I won't know what my fate will be—or what could happen. How do I act around Luca? How can I be sure this is not just a measly mistake from the moon goddess herself? “Get down,” Luca instructed, snapping me out of my thoughts. “What?” “We're back at the castle.” I looked back at the back door I had run out through minutes ago. My hands still clung firmly to Luca’s neck, and I turned my gaze back to him. “Get down, Samantha.” “Oh, right.” I stood on my feet and reached for the knob but was stopped by his large hand on mine. “Let's run through some ground rules.” “You are a stranger in my pack and, surprisingly, my mate. My people have no idea who you are, and I don't plan on informing them.” “What’s your point?” I snapped. “You act like my muse while you stay here, and keep your sharp mouth shut.” “What do you mean ‘act like your muse’?” “My lady of the night…” “So, your personal whore then?” He grunted and cornered me by the door. “Yes, if that’s easier to understand. To everyone, you are my muse—the King's woman or whatever you want to call it. But to both of us—we are mates.” “So, do we have sex?!” His eyes trailed down to my exposed cleavage and snapped back up immediately. “No. Although… if you want that-” “I’d rather be mated to a tree.” He chuckled. “Vepetta, if that’s your kink, then you don’t have to hide it with me-I’ll understand. Are we clear?” “Crystal.” —---------------------------------------------------------- We finally found our way back into Luca’s chambers, and with me sitting on the bed, he looked unbothered as he searched through his drawers in silence. “Am I going to stay locked up in here every day?” “No,” he said, turning to face me with cotton wool and antiseptic in his hands. “Sit still. Your wounds need to be treated.” He approached the bed and sat down in front of me, holding out his hand. “Your leg?” I stretched my left leg out for him-giving him space to do his thing. He rested my leg on his hips and poured the antiseptic onto the cotton wool with graceful movements. Alpha Luca doesn't scare me—he excites me, but in a dangerous way. The way his fingers felt on my skin as he applied the first aid—not rushed, but rough and warm. The way his eyes scanned my bruise—inspecting—as if he’d missed a spot that needed cleaning. The tingling feeling I got when he did that. ‘I know he's sexy too, girl. This man is fine!’ Aldrina screamed in my head. My wolf is probably the most sex-starved wolf I have ever come across. “There… all done,” he said, smoothing the plaster in place. His fingers brushed my thighs, and I lost all sense of speech. This is crazy… this sudden attraction I have for him. It must be the mate bond, it has to be. The door swung open, and a blonde woman in royal attire stood there, staring at both of us with wide eyes. “You brought her back!” Luca eyed her, unperturbed, and stashed the items away in the first aid box. The woman closed the door and walked over to the bed. “You told me you were going to get rid of her!” “Plans changed.” She laughed hysterically, her eyes darting between me and Luca. “What plans?! That wasn’t what we discussed.” “You didn’t come to my room to shut down my kingdom, did you? Plans changed. I didn’t dispute what we discussed.” “What discussion?” I asked. Luca looked back at me. “Oh, mind my manners. This is my sister, Melissa. Melissa, this is Samantha-my muse.” Melissa’s eyes went wide in shock, and she looked back at Luca. “Your muse? As in, your lady of the night? You don’t have muses!” “I have one now. You’re not being very nice to my guest.” “Oh God, Luca! If this gets out and the council and people find out about this, they won’t be pleased!” “I know. Now leave. I’ll come find you later,” he acknowledged. Melissa looked back at me with eyes full of spite and hatred before turning to the door and leaving the room. “Your sister doesn’t like me at all.” “You can't blame her. It's not like people from Black Rose like her much either. Don’t worry about it; she’s not mad at you.” “How do you expect people to react to the news about me being your muse? From what your sister said, you don’t have muses.” “I do… just not every day,” he paused. “In this sense, I usually have muses for the night—ladies I’m drawn to after every party. I take them into my room and…” “Sleep with them,” I finished. “More than that. I can do anything I want with them,” he said, looking at me dauntingly. “Things like what?” I whispered. “You’ll find out tonight… You have to get ready.” “What? What’s happening tonight?” “I choose my mate, as our tradition says, but we made a deal, and I’m not one to go against my word.” “So?” I pressed. “I won’t be choosing a mate in front of my people tonight—I’ll be choosing a mistress, a muse, my lady of the night. I’ll be choosing you instead.”Samantha’s Pov“Have you spoken to him yet?” Mikala asked as she looked up from the teapot.“No. Do you think I should?”“Duh…yes! Why haven’t you?” she asked, handing me one of the cups.“I didn’t know if he wanted to talk to me. I don’t know…”She slapped her hand on her face and shook her head. “Sometimes I wonder if you are truly this ignorant. Of course, you have to talk to him, girl. He needs his woman right now.”“I know you would agree with him… you never agree with my opinions.”“That’s because most of the time they don’t make sense in that situation, no offence. The Alpha is practically in love with you, and he doesn’t fail to show it.”“He’s going about it the wrong way,” I said, taking a sip of tea.“This is the right way, girl! This is the right way. It just shows how much you mean to him and how much he truly adores you.”I know. I still feel bad about it, but I’ve come to understand that this is the only way Luca can show his love for me. While some people have other wa
Luca's Pov“Are you sure you want to attend this meeting?” Tyler asked as we walked into the council office.“I am,” I answered.“You do realize they are still angry about the issue?”“I am aware of the situation, Tyler. No need to worry. I need this meeting to find out what has been happening in the pack for days. Also, we have to reconstruct a new border, so this meeting needs to be done quickly.” It would also serve as a great distraction, which I desperately need right now.Tyler nodded and sat down beside me just as the door opened. I looked up and saw the person I least expected walk in. My cousin, Xavier.“What are you doing here?”“I came to talk to you,” he answered, nodding at Tyler. Xavier and I haven’t spoken since that day in the stables. I didn’t want to revisit the past, and since he refused to give me any information about Lily, I decided to leave him and not press further.“We can discuss it later. I have an important meeting in a few minutes,” I said, brushing him of
Luca's Pov“Why? Answer me!”I looked at her and saw the horror on her face. She didn’t like the information. “Why? I killed them because they hurt you. They made you this way.”Samantha gasped as tears rolled down her cheeks. Why the fuck is she crying? How am I supposed to react to that?“You hate me?”“Huh? No… no. I hate seeing you like this. You haven’t stepped outside for days, and it breaks my heart to see that I can’t make you better.”“Why are you trying to fix me, Luca?!”“I am not fixing you…”“You are! You are trying to fix me, trying to make me better, trying to take all the pain away. Did I ask you to do that for me?”“How could you even say that? It is my duty to protect you.”“But it is not your duty to kill. You cannot kill someone so easily just because it’s for me. That is not an excuse!” she cried.“They hurt you…”“And you killed them! You did! You are a leader. You are supposed to lead them, not kill just because they gave me a few bruises?”Bruises? Is she real
Samantha’s PovThe days went by quickly. My legs were healing, and the burnt areas were also recovering. Melissa, Mikala, and even Madam Cherie came to see me—Tyler as well. Xavier visited once, and although he didn't say the words, I knew he was sorry. When Melissa came to visit, she asked if I had seen my kidnappers, and I told her I hadn't. However, I did tell her about the female voice I heard, and I’m pretty sure she was the only girl around. Melissa didn’t give me many details and instead distracted me—or at least she thought she did. She acted strangely about the topic, and whenever I brought it up or asked if my kidnappers had been found, she would lie.So the most viable option was to ask the only man I knew who might have an idea who they were—Luca. He had been inexplicably sweet for days. He fed me, cleaned me, and even gave me baths constantly—which somehow always ended with him fucking me or eating me out. It was fun to know I could get such pleasure on an easy platter.“
Luca's Pov“What are you doing here?” Xavier asked as I walked into the stable.“Am I not allowed to take walks in my palace?”“No, but I know you would rather be with Samantha right now than be in a stable.” True.“I wanted to talk to you about something,” I said. He looked at me for a minute and continued brushing the hair of his horse.“What do you want to talk about? If it’s about the argument the other day, forget it. I’m not ready to argue with anyone—especially you.”“Thank you,” I said, and he looked shocked.“Thank you for helping the other day. I didn’t entertain the idea, but you being there at that moment was helpful.”He pursed his lips and nodded.“I also have something else to say. More of a question, actually,” I said.“A question?” He furrowed his eyebrows in a questioning look.“Samantha told me about your lover, Lily.” He tensed and froze. After a few beats, he walked away from the horse and stood in front of me.“What did she tell you about her?”“Who is Lily?”“Yo
Luca's Pov“How long were you trying to move your legs?” I asked her as she properly relaxed her back.“Not too long,” she said, looking at her bandaged legs. “They hurt,” she whispered. I turned away, avoiding her eyes.“I’m sorry.”“For what?”“For allowing them to do this to you. For leaving you alone at the ball.” I looked back at her legs. The royal healer said the poison was so strong she could have completely lost them. But she fought. My girl fought for her life. Her legs burned from the fire, silver, and poison—all at once.“You don’t have to be sorry, Luca.”“You don’t understand... I could have lost you,” I said, and she smiled. I can’t imagine the tremendous pain she must be in right now. I hate seeing her like this, and it breaks my heart that I wasn’t there sooner. If she had stayed inside the party, this wouldn’t have happened. I was the one who told her to wait outside for me. I put her in danger, and she was kidnapped—again, because of me.“You won’t do this,” she sai
