Kairox’s POV

The morning after the battle dawned gray and heavy over Crescent Moon. The air still carried the sharp scent of smoke, but the worst of the fires had been quenched. Warriors moved slowly, still tending to wounds and clearing debris, while the elders gathered in the central courtyard under the ancient oak.

Kaelric stood before them, head bowed, crown already removed and held in the eldest’s hands. The pack formed a wide circle—silently, many faces still etched with exhaustion and lingering anger.

The head elder’s voice rang clear. “Kaelric, you have confessed your crimes. You orchestrated the murder of our Luna Alicia. You manipulated Virelle through dark magic. You betrayed your own blood and nearly destroyed this pack through arrogance and vengeance. Your crimes are great and can’t be overlooked. By pack law, you are stripped of the Alpha title.”

Kaelric did not protest. He simply knelt there, heartbroken.

The elder continued, turning to me. “Kairox, proven leader, and savior of this pack in its darkest hour—will you reclaim the crown? Will you return as Alpha of Crescent Moon?”

Every eye turned to me.

Virelle stood at my side, her hand resting lightly on my arm. I stepped forward.

The torque felt familiar in my memory, but my heart had already chosen its home.

“I am honored,” I said, voice steady and loud enough for the entire pack to hear. “But I must refuse. I am Alpha of Red Moon now. My mate, my daughter, and my pack are there. That is where I belong.”

Murmurs rippled through the crowd.

I continued, passion rising in my chest. “But I will not turn my back on Crescent Moon. This pack raised me. It is part of me. And it is part of my brother.”

I looked directly at Kaelric, still kneeling.

“Five years ago, pain and jealousy twisted him into something dark. He made terrible choices. He hurt the people he claimed to love. But I have seen what redemption looks like. I was given a second chance when I rejected my own mate in a desperate attempt to protect her. Virelle was given mercy when the pack branded her a murderer. Even I was spared when I chose love over pride.”

I turned to face the pack fully.

“We are wolves. We fall. We bleed. But we also rise. If you can find it in your hearts to give Kaelric the same grace that was once extended to my Luna and to me and to me, then let him lead again—not alone, but under guidance. I will mentor him. I will stand beside him as his brother, not as his rival. Redemption is not a gift we hoard. It is a light we pass on. So, permit me to plead on his behalf.”

Silence stretched.

Then a single warrior stepped forward—the veteran who had first greeted me at the gates.

“He saved us last night,” the warrior said. “He fought with us like the Alpha he once was. If Kairox believes in second chances… then so do I.”

One by one, voices joined.

Heads nodded.

The elders exchanged glances.

Finally, the head elder placed the torque back around Kaelric’s neck.

“Kaelric, you are reinstated as Alpha of Crescent Moon—under the mentorship and watchful eye of your brother, Kairox of Red Moon. May the Moon guide you toward the leadership this pack deserves.”

Kaelric rose slowly. Tears tracked down his face—open, unashamed.

He turned to us.

“Thank you,” he whispered. “Both of you.”

Virelle stepped closer and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.

“We forgive you, Kaelric,” she said softly. “The past dies here. Let it stay buried.”

I nodded. “We move forward. Together.”

Kaelric’s shoulders straightened, though the weight of guilt still shadowed his eyes. He gestured behind him.

A young woman stepped forward—quiet, with warm brown eyes and a gentle smile. Her hand rested protectively over the soft swell of her belly.

“This is Lira,” Kaelric said, voice thick with emotion. “My mate. She… she found me when I was at my lowest. She’s carrying our child.”

Lira dipped her head respectfully. “It is an honor to meet the true Alpha and Luna of Red Moon.”

Virelle smiled warmly and embraced her. “Welcome to the family. May your little one bring you much joy.”

I clasped Kaelric’s forearm, then pulled him into a rough hug.

“Congratulations, brother.”

Kaelric’s voice cracked. “I don’t deserve this.”

“You don’t,” I said honestly. “None of us do. That’s why it’s called grace. I never thought you could be so fierce brother," I added, laughing out loud and he chuckled.

Just when I thought it was over, Gabriel walked in, carrying jasmine in his hands.

“Oh my, we didn’t think you’d come,” Virelle rushed towards them, picking Jasmine up.

“Daddy…” she screamed and I stormed towards her, grabbed her softly, and tossed her in the air a few times. She laughed and giggled, having fun until I settled her back into my arms.

“My princess, look at you.”

I pressed a gentle kiss on her cheek and turned to Gabriel “Thank you,” I said, bowing at him before walking back to Ric.

Jasmine stared at Kaelric with curious golden eyes.

“Daddy, who is he?” she asked, tilting her head.

“Uncle Kaelric, he is your uncle,” I answered and she repeated after me.

“Uncle Kaelric.”

Kaelric’s face softened completely for the first time in years. “Yes, little one. I’m your uncle.”

Jasmine reached out and poked his cheek. “Are you also verryyy strong like papa?”

A broken laugh escaped him. “Your papa is stronger than I ever was.”

We introduced them properly—Jasmine’s bright laughter cutting through the lingering tension like sunlight through clouds.

Later that evening, both packs gathered for a general family dinner in the central clearing. Long tables had been hastily repaired and overloaded with roasted ducks and pigs, fresh bread, honeyed roots, and barrels of spiced wine. lanterns cast a warm glow. Children from both packs ran between the tables, chasing one another.

Red Moon and Crescent Moon wolves sat side by side—old grudges melting away with every shared story and raised cup.

Kairox and I sat at the head table with Kaelric and Lira. Jasmine bounced between us, stealing bites from everyone’s plates and making the warriors laugh with her bold demands for “more meat like Papa eats.”

I watched Kaelric across the table. He ate slowly, listening more than speaking, his hand never leaving Lira’s. The arrogance was gone. In its place was quiet determination.

Virelle leaned against my side, her head on my shoulder.

“It's over?” she murmured. “Truly over.”

I kissed her temple. “Yes it is”

As the moon rose high, toasts rang out—first to the fallen, then to the living, then to the fragile peace between packs.

Kaelric stood at one point, raising his cup.

“To my brother,” he said, voice steady. “Who taught me that strength is not in taking power, but in giving. And to Virelle—whose forgiveness I will spend the rest of my life earning.”

The packs cheered.

I raised my cup in return. “To redemption. To family. To both packs standing stronger together.”

Laughter and howls filled the night.

Resentment died there—around those tables, in the shared warmth of fire and food and forgiveness.

When the feast finally wound down, we said our goodbyes.

Kaelric clasped my hand one last time.

“I won’t fail them again,” he promised.

“I know,” I replied. “And if you stumble, I’ll be here to help you up.”

Virelle hugged Lira and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. “We’ll visit when the baby comes.”

Jasmine waved enthusiastically. “Bye, Uncle! Bring the new cousin to play!”

We mounted our horses as dawn approached.

Kairox, Virelle, and Jasmine—my family—rode away from Crescent Moon.

I looked back only once.

The pack stood watching, lanterns raised in farewell.

No more pain and betrayal.

Only two packs healing, two brothers choosing a better path, and one future stretching bright ahead.

We rode toward home.

Toward the life we had fought for, together.

Virelle’s POVFive years had passed like a quiet river—steady, healing, full of light.Jasmine, our four-year-old daughter, was the heartbeat of Red Moon Pack. With her father’s golden eyes and my white curls, she picked up the habit of running through the training yards on her chubby legs, always holding a wooden sword in her hand, pretending to be a warrior just when I was about to caution her.“Grrraaaaa!!! I’m gonna chop off your ugly head with my sword rogues,” she screamed, pointing at the trees and earning a stare from the maid before bursting into laughter. I shook my head, watching her rush to my husband after getting a glance of him. “Papa, teach me to be strong like you!” Kairox chuckled and scooped her up, laughing. They’ve just found a way of living without me, spending hours showing each other how to balance, how to strike, and how to show mercy to a fallen opponent that deserves it.I watched them from the porch most evenings, heart full. As Luna, it wasn’t so lonely a

Kairox’s POVVirelle’s head rested against my chest, her breathing shallow. The baby bump pressed between us, warm and alive, the only thing that kept my heart from stopping entirely.I cradled her closer, panic clawing up my throat.“Virelle—stay with me. Please.”Her lashes fluttered before her eyes opened. She lifted a trembling hand to my cheek.“Don’t… worry,” she whispered. “My blood can handle the wolfbane. I’m… okay.”Her voice cracked on the last word. Then her eyes rolled back. She went limp.I carried her out past the bodies of guards I’d left broken. The ride back to Red Moon was agony.I took one horse—stole it from Rodrick’s stables—and rode hard, Virelle draped across my lap, wrapped in my robe. Every jolt of the horse made me flinch.I whispered to her the whole way.“I’m here. I’ve got you. You’re safe. Just hold on a little.”Red Moon gates opened at my shout.Warriors and maids rushed forward.Gabriel met me at the courtyard steps, face filled with worry.“Take her

I kept trailing her I followed her the minute she vanished, Gabriel’s warriors offering to ride with me. I refused. This was mine to finish.Every inn, every black-market whisper—I tore through them like a storm. I did all I could, bribed. Threatened. Broke jaws when necessary. The scent grew stronger near the southern marshes, the stink of Rodrick’s compound started to fill my nose, drawing me nearer to the love of my life.I climbed the outer wall, dropped into the yard quietly, snapped two guards’ necks before they could scream. Moved like a shadow through the dark hush corridors. Her scent pulled me deeper.Into the cellars until I reached the door of the dungeon.Virelle’s POVRodrick visited twice a day.Once to gloat.Once to touch. He traced fingers along my jaw, my collarbone, my swollen belly. Virelle’s POVThe dawn of the third day was finally here, the day everyone in the park was looking forward to, cold and merciless over the Crescent Moon courtyard. The pack gathered in a tight ring—hundreds of wolves, faces carved with grief and fury. The pyre for Alicia still reeks at the far edge, black smoke curling like fingers. They had come for justice. They had come for my blood.I could already hear voices and whispers in the dungeon, my heart raced, iron chains bit into my wrists and ankles as two warriors dragged me to the center stone. My bare feet scraped across the ground. The rough dress they had given me hung in shreds. My belly pressed against the fabric with every breath. The executioner waited, broad axe gleaming in his hand.No one spoke my name anymore. Just “the murderer.” “The traitor.” “The one who killed our Luna.”I kept my head high, looking for Kairox in the crowd. He stood at the front—blank-faced, eyes unreadable. He hadn’t spoken to me since the dungeon

  • Mated by faith, claimed by lust   Blood on scales

Kairox’s POVThe screams reached me before her scent did, my body was filled with tension and sharp stabbing pain, and I could barely handle it.I rushed out of my room, running, boots slamming the ground like I was floating on it, warriors peeled off behind me. I traced the smell till I got to the corridor and paused in shock. My shoulders slacked as I watched Virelle slouch on the ground, covered in blood, face buried on the wall, sobbing. My head spun as I thought of what could happen. I turned around and rushed to the door of the Luna suite. And stopped dead at the entrance.“Alicia,” I called faintly before running to her side. She didn’t respond or turn. She was lying bare on the ground, too weak and pale, eyes stuttering, lips parted like she was struggling to gasp—half dead. Half alive.“Alicia,” I called again, pulling her to my lap, I held her head up in my arms as tears rolled down my face, and pain surged through my veins like molten lava. “Kai,” she managed to speak, p
