I want my mates

Diana turned on the bed, sitting up to yawn as she stretched her muscles which had gotten stiff from sleeping. She scanned the empty room and wondered where both Herd brothers had gone.

Did they now trust her enough to leave her in one of their rooms alone? Or was it because she was grieving, she pondered, as she got up to check out the work desk that was at the far corner of the room.

She didn't want to cry again and she knew if she sat down on the bed doing nothing, heartbreaking memories of her mother lying in the hospital lamenting would resurface. She knew if she sat idle she was going to remember the mean words her stepbrother had spat at her that morning with so much venom and hate laced in them. The threats he had vowed to carry out had sent a spiral of shivers down her back which had made her heartbeat jump a tad bit higher.

"If I sit doing nothing, I would go out of my mind," she thought, opening one out of the few drawers the desk hosted.
