Along the way, he held my hand, and the warmth from his palm gave me a long-lost sense of security.

I occasionally glance at him secretly.

His features were even more sharp and cold than Marcus's. His gaze was calm, yet carried an undeniable sense of dominance.

Suddenly, he turned to look at me. I quickly averted my gaze, my cheeks feeling warm.

When we arrived at the estate district, just as we got out of the car, Marcus's vehicle blocked our path.

He rolled down his window, looking at Garrett with mockery in his voice.

"Brother, I'm kindly reminding you to watch that useless she-wolf beside you. She only looks refined on the surface."

"Marcus, how can you say that about Hazel? She works so hard on her healing herb research."

Scarlett pretended to mediate from the side. These two were perfectly matched, singing the same tune.

I turned to Scarlett and said, "You'd better worry about yourself first. It looks like you're having a hard time getting pregnant."

Scarlett's Facebook was full of posts about trying to conceive.

Scarlett's expression stiffened. This was the last thing she wanted to hear, reminding her that all her efforts are in vain.

Scarlett deliberately raised her voice.

"You're talking nonsense!"

Scarlett's face instantly flushed red, shouting at me in embarrassed fury.

"Marcus and I have sex eight times a day! We'll have a pup soon!"

She stepped forward, almost pointing at my nose.

"Unlike you, a loser who can't even keep an Alpha!"

"Staying in that herbal lab all day like a piece of wood—who would ever want you?"

I watched her frantic appearance and smiled slightly.

"Is that so?"

My calmness completely enraged her.

Scarlett raised her hand, seemingly wanting to slap me.

Her wrist was steadily caught mid-air by Garrett.

"Enough."

Garrett released her hand and protected me behind him.

"If there's a next time, I won't let you go so easily."

Inside the estate, Garrett's expression was somewhat grave. He looked at me with a very serious look.

"From now on, I will protect you."

I smiled.

Meeting his serious gaze, I made up my mind and stood on tiptoe and kissed him.

A month later, with no news from Marcus and Scarlett, I received confirmation of my pregnancy from the pack healer.

William was overjoyed. Not only did he give me a substantial reward, but he immediately called a pack meeting and announced it publicly.

Hearing about my pregnancy, Marcus stormed straight to the estate.

"Hazel Whitmore, what are you so proud of! You've just conceived another defective pup! What's there to show off about!"

He mentioned my poor Connor from my past life again.

I would definitely avenge this.

At this moment, Garrett shielded me behind him.

"No matter what the pup is like, it's my child. I will protect both my Luna and my pup."

Warmth filled my heart, as if a ray of light had shone in.

Another month passed, and there was still no news of pregnancy from Marcus and Scarlett.

William finally lost his patience and sent the pack healer directly to Marcus's residence. He asked me to accompany them.
