Chapter 4

When Marcus saw William, me, and the pack healer at his home, his expression became extremely grim.

"What do you mean? Do you think there's something wrong with me?"

The old Alpha's face darkened as he tapped his walking stick.

"Healer, check Marcus and Scarlett again."

When Marcus's gaze met mine, undisguised hatred blazed in his eyes.

"Alpha, Miss Scarlett’s physical indicators are all normal. She's just under significant mental stress recently."

Scarlett visibly sighed with relief.

Marcus immediately cast a contemptuous glance at me, and confidently said to William.

"Grandfather, Scarlett is fine. Just give us some time. I guarantee that I'll soon give you the most excellent Alpha heir to bring honor to our bloodline!"

The healer kept examining the healthy one repeatedly, but no one dared touch the one with sterility.

I'd like to see where this excellent grandson was going to come from.

After the healer left, I turned to leave but was stopped by Marcus.

His face was full of mockery.

"Hazel Whitmore, you're really something."

"Don't think I don't know what you're thinking."

A self-righteous sneer curved his lips.

"Mating with my big brother and getting pregnant so quickly—you just want to get my attention, don't you?"

"Hazel Whitmore, your tricks are still so pathetic."

I was speechless.

"Do you think you can embarrass me with such low tactics?" Scarlett stood beside him, her face pale, but still forcing herself to agree.

"So what if you're pregnant? Do you think Garrett really likes you?"

Her voice was kept low, carrying malicious satisfaction.

"He just feels sorry for you, a she-wolf abandoned by Marcus."

She stretched out her hand with bright red nail polish, almost touching my face.

"The pup you're carrying might be an idiot too!"

"After all, like mother, like son!"

Not only did Marcus not stop her, but a cold smile curved his lips.

His hand suddenly reached toward my belly.

"I'll do a good deed today, to prevent you from giving birth to an idiot that would bring shame to our entire pack!"

I don't know when Garrett arrived, but he kicked Marcus square in the chest.

Marcus grunted and fell clumsily to the ground.

He clutched his chest, looking at his big brother in disbelief.

"Try touching her and see what happens."

"My pup is not for you to judge."

Since having the pup, Garrett had been even more attentive to me, afraid I might have the slightest mishap.

This natural pregnancy process was completely different from the previous life's technology-assisted pregnancy.

In my past life, to get pregnant, I had taken many ovulation shots, pregnancy-preserving injections, and hormones, overdraining my body.

Throughout that pregnancy, my entire belly was covered with needle marks that turned purple-blue. In the later stages, my body was extremely weak, often spotting, and I could barely get out of bed.

Now, although I had normal pregnancy symptoms, my complexion was getting better and better.

After several more months, there was still no news from Marcus. William finally lost his temper, directly ordering the healer to conduct mandatory examinations on Marcus and Scarlett.

In his previous life, Marcus didn't know I had used special technology to conceive, so he was very confident now.

The healer's face turned pale with fear, his trembling hands hesitating to approach Marcus.
