Chapter5

Author: Charlotte
This is impossible!

I sneered coldly in my heart.

No one knew Marcus's physical condition better than I did.

"Really?!" Marcus grabbed the healer's arm, his voice trembling with excitement.

The healer was startled by him and hurriedly nodded.

Marcus was instantly overjoyed.

He turned his head, looking at me with the air of a victor.

Garrett tightened his grip on my hand, protecting me even more closely.

"Good! Excellent, double blessing from Moon Goddess!"

William immediately announced that he would hold a grand pregnancy celebration party for both expectant mothers.

Word spread quickly: "Whoever gives birth to the Blackwood pack heir first will inherit the entire pack!"

Marcus became even more arrogant. "Hazel Whitmore, did you hear that?"

His voice carried undisguised mockery.

"Even if you used every trick to get pregnant, you're destined to be a runner-up."

"How could a she-wolf like you possibly birth a healthy pup?"

He leaned close to me, his voice extremely low, full of malice.

"Don't forget, that defective thing you birthed in your past life is the best reflection of your fate in this life."

My face instantly turned pale.

Garrett pulled me behind him, blocking Marcus's sinister gaze.

He looked at Marcus with terrifyingly cold gaze. "Past life?" He questioned.

Marcus froze, seeming to realize he had let slip a secret.

He immediately covered it up viciously. "I was just kidding. Why are you so nervous!"

But Garrett no longer looked at him. Instead, he looked down at me, his eyes full of complex emotions.

There was shock, heartache, and a hint of understanding.

He understood everything.

He knew we had both come back.

After the banquet ended, back at the estate, he held me tightly in his arms.

"I'm sorry you suffered so much."

His voice carried a tremor, holding me even tighter.

"From now on, I won't let anyone hurt you or our pup."

I leaned against him, feeling his steady heartbeat, and my heart finally felt a trace of warmth.

I believed that the moon goddess gave me a second life, just to meet him.

Since Scarlett became pregnant, she posted daily on Facebook showing off how good Marcus was to her, flaunting the Blackwood Alpha family's luxury.

She subtly mocked that my pup would be born disabled.

I couldn't be bothered to pay attention, contentedly continuing my research in Garrett's herbal laboratory.

By the way, I should also investigate who the real father of the pup in Scarlett's belly was.

With my skills and connections, investigating someone's background was so easy.

Within three days, a detailed report was on my desk.

Looking at the man's photo in the report, I smiled.

Scarlett's college classmate, an packless rogue wolf.

What a player indeed.

I put away the report, quietly waiting for the perfect opportunity.

This opportunity came soon.

On the day of the family feast, all wolves gathered in the Blackwood pack house.

Scarlett wore a haute couture maternity dress, holding Marcus's arm, accepting everyone's compliments with a radiant face.

"Congratulations, Alpha Marcus! Miss Scarlett is truly blessed by the Moon Goddess!"

"Yes, this is the Blackwood heir—he'll have unlimited prospects!"

Hearing these words, Marcus couldn't hide his smugness at all.

When he saw Garrett and me enter, he deliberately walked over, his face showing undisguised showing off.

"Brother, sister-in-law, you're here."

His gaze fell on my belly, full of contempt.

"I heard sister-in-law is also pregnant. You moved pretty fast."

"What a pity, a she-wolf like you is just destined not to birth anything good."

He leaned to my ear, whispering maliciously.

"Unlike my sweet Scarlett, what she's carrying is the future hope of our Blackwood pack."

Looking at his smug face, I only found it ridiculous.

Garrett's expression darkened, about to speak.

But I held him back, gently shaking my head.

"Don't rush, let him be happy a little longer."

Scarlett walked over pretentiously, stroking her belly.

"Hazel, don't blame Marcus. He's just too excited about this pup."

"After all, this is his first pup."

She deliberately emphasized the words "first."

I smiled. "Yes, it's indeed worth anticipating."

I was anticipating the moment when the truth would be revealed and the expressions on their faces.

The banquet began, and William stood in front of all wolves with a radiant face.

"Today, I have great news to announce!"

"Both of my granddaughters-in-law are carrying the next generation of our Blackwood pack!"

Thunderous applause erupted below.

William nodded with satisfaction and continued.

"To encourage them, whoever gives birth to a healthy Blackwood heir first will receive additional shares of the entire pack's territory!"

Marcus looked at me smugly, his eyes full of provocation.

I stepped forward, interrupting William's words.

"Elder William, before announcing such a major decision, there's something I think you and everyone present should see first."

The entire venue instantly fell silent, all eyes focused on me.

"Scarlett's pup probably can't bear the Blackwood name."

My voice wasn't loud, but it clearly carried throughout the entire banquet hall.

"What nonsense are you spouting!" Marcus roared.

Scarlett's face instantly lost all color.

I ignored him, simply handing a document to the assistant beside me.

"Put this on the big screen."

The screen lit up, showing a document.

The title was in bold letters:

"DNA Paternity Test Report."
