Darius’s POV
“Ahh….” A moan slipped past my lips, my eyes rolling to the back of my head as he rammed into me. Luca pinned me down, my hands bound by a merciless grip, leaving me a panting mess. But I didn’t mind, I would gladly let him ruin me over and over again. “Do you like that Alpha?” He smirked, his green eyes flashing with amusement. I couldn’t respond, not when his large hand clawed my throat, robbing me of any oxygen and making me lightheaded. Beads of sweat coaxed my forehead, my heart thundering against my chest as I looked up at him, pleading for him to continue. He let out a feral growl in response, his hips snapping forward in a violent thrust. I could feel myself tighten around his length, feel him tearing me from the inside out. My moans filled the silence of the night, begging, yearning, for this man who was as sweet as sin. He was my lover: a secret, and the bane of existence. “Luca…” I managed to muster, my eyes watering with tears is a pleasure. Luca’s jaw tightened, his brows furrowed, lips parted in awe. “Fuck don’t look at me like that,” his lips soon found mine as he reached his climax, filling me to the brim with his seed. I held him close, feeling the subtle rise and fall of his chest, along with the tremors of his racing heart. His skin felt hot against mine, and in that moment, I wanted to forget all of my responsibilities. He was the light in my dark eerie world, and if that was a taboo, I didn’t mind getting crucified. *** The morning sun came too soon, and as always, I woke up to an empty bed. I stared at the space beside me, where Luca should be, my fingers running through the silk bedsheets. His scent still filled the room, a painful reminder of his presence. A sigh slipped past my lips, my gaze wandering to the open window. For how long do I have to keep hiding? A sharp knock on the door pulled me from my train of thought, a wake-up call to reality. “Come in.” My voice was firm, and the door creaked open, revealing my Beta, Asher, at the doorway. He greeted me with a bow, his shoulders stiff in attention. “Alpha, the council is waiting.” I was amused whenever I was addressed as an Alpha, knowing that the word had lost all meaning the moment my father was buried. He didn't die peacefully, but at the cold hands of the king. The very same family I’m being forced to marry into. The council chamber was cold and hostile. Six elders sat at the round table, men who pushed my father to his doom and were now repeating the cycle. “The wedding preparations are underway, you’ve kept the king waiting long enough.” One spoke as I took my seat. I was already tired of the topic, but they kept their eyes on me, judging as if I were a child they’d grown tired of disciplining. I leaned against the table, my voice low. “We all know the royal family wants to use this wedding to keep us on a leash. They are afraid I would take revenge for what they did to my father—” “The former Alpha has played his part, we have no power against the king. We should be grateful he spared us as a pack after your father’s act of treason.” Another interjected. My jaw tightened. It was always like this. To them, I was nothing but a puppet, an Alpha only by title. I never believed my father was guilty, he was more loyal to the king than anyone, but he was discarded without a thought. I would never forgive that. Neither would I sit still. I had a plan. A solid one, and I was going to see it through to the end. When the meeting ended, I left before anyone could stop me. Asher was quick on my side, and I stopped in my tracks to listen to him. “The princess is here, and she insists on seeing you.” He whispered. My fists balled at my sides, but I had to bear it—the tight knot of resentment growing within me. “Isn’t it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?” I couldn’t help but scoff. Asher gave a worried look, and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. Princess Aveline, the jewel of the Fenrir Empire, home to the most powerful werewolves in the world, was my bride-to-be. Albeit forcefully. She was a weak little thing, and I had little to no interest in women in the first place. I just needed to get one thing from her. The very thing that would finally set me free; The crest of the Fenrir. A precious stone carved with ancient magic, one that had been bestowed upon none other than Aveline by the king himself. Luca had told me that if I could get that, then we would have everything we needed to elope and start a life together. So for that reason alone, I was willing to put up with the charade. “Hello, Aveline.” I greeted her as soon as I arrived at the waiting room, fully dressed to impress. Her pale features brightened up, and she needed the help of two maids to stand on her feet. “Alpha Darius.” She grinned, her voice a soft tremor. I forced a smile, masking my irritation. “You look lovely.” The princess steadied herself, shooing her maids with a simple wave. My brows furrowed as she fumbled with a small velvet box, holding it out to me with shaky hands. “I….I had this made for you. Can you wear it on our wedding day?” I opened the box, and inside lay a fine brooch. But that wasn’t what made my eyes widen, it wasn’t what made my chest tighten. It was because this wasn’t just a brooch….it was the crest of Fenrir. “Wow.” I regained my composure, schooling my face into awe, into tenderness. “This is a great honor, my love.” I gently took her hands in mine, leaning forward to drop featherlight kisses on her knuckles. She hiccuped, her pale cheeks flushed pink. Hopelessly in love, hopelessly foolish. “I can’t wait for us to finally become husband and wife.” She beamed, her eyes glistening with adoration. I tried not to flinch as she caressed my cheeks, leaning in, but I pulled back before her lips met mine. Instead, my hands tightened around her waist, and I angled my head to whisper in her ear. “Let’s wait till we are in our marital bed, my love.” I insisted I watched her swallow hard, then with a slow nod, she offered me a warm smile before turning on her heels, her dress sweeping like mist as her maids guided her out. The moment the doors shut behind her, my smile dissolved. I looked down at the brooch, my heart swelling in anticipation. Finally… The key to my freedom.KaelThis was absolute madness. The few days I was trapped, my entire pack was already over run? When the fuck did Xerxes move in and was Elena aware? Of course, she had to be fucking aware that her brother had decided to move his troops down here. At that moment, the sharp smell hit me and I froze again. This was a serious problem; this was going to breed war because how will I explain that another Alpha was found dead in my fucking bathroom?Fuck! I slammed my balled fist into the wall, causing a large dent. When it seemed like everything was started to make sense, an issue would pop out of nowhere. How the hell was I going to go to his pack and tell his mate something that I didn’t have any knowledge about? I had no idea why he was here; I didn’t even know when he came, I had not received him and I most definitely didn’t know what he was dead.My thoughts ran in circles as I tried to cook solutions to this problem. I could only hide this for so long, the smell wouldn’t be a problem
DariusThe wall opened and a sudden force pushed me out of the room. I staggered quickly, almost tripping over myself till I tripped over a rock jutting out of the floor. I crashed to the ground and the pain ran up my tail bone but my eyes were still latched to Luca. He had the opportunity; he could have done with us whatever he wanted to but…this was amusing to him. To him, this was all a game. We were part of his twist elements to achieving his morbid fantasy and drawing pleasure to him.“Are you okay? We thought we had lost you for a second,” Aveline said, rushing to my side once more. I continued to stare at the gaping wall and the darkened image of Luca receding into the shadows but smiling unashamedly. She turned her head to the same route and peered hard but whipped toward me once more.“What are you staring at?” she asked and my eyes snapped toward her, widening at the strange and bizarre question. “Can’t you see him?” I asked, I was perplexed. He was standing right there, I a
DariusI stared at Kael as he sank further into the ground, my eyes widened and my hands were stretched. I could see his too, he was straining toward me but there was nothing I could do. I was stuck, the vines had fastened me to the ground, it had wrapped me tightly to the extent that breathing itself was laborious. I groaned in pain as the vines wrangled tightly and my eyes followed him till the earth covered his head. My head broke, it snapped in half as my eyes widened. I couldn’t scream because there was barely any breath left in my lungs to do so.My eyes prickled and my nose flared as I watched, tears pooled to the side of my eyes, caked and then slipped down the side of my face. The vines suddenly began to loosen, I gasped desperately as the vine around my stomach and chest had released the grip on me. As soon as my legs were free, I stumbled forward toward the spot that my eyes had never let go of. I slammed to the ground and began to dig around the porous ground, but the more
ElenaI smiled as I lowered the phone and stopped the recording. This was going to serve its purpose and it would serve it well. I swiped Xerxes’ phone and it opened. I had removed the password a few minutes ago with his facial recognition even though Luca had to use magic to keep his eyes open and for the retinal scanner to work. I searched through his contact list for the one person who had consistently called him and waited. My thumb hovered over the name as I stared at Kael through the gap, he was still heaving as he stared the mess around him.I was sure at this point he had come to the realization that he had fucked up by killing them even though it was slightly in self-defence. Killing the guards of another’s pack on your territory was a declaration of war because the guards were seen as an extension of the monarchy themselves.Kael walked out of the room and silence fell as he closed the door behind him. I heaved a sigh and swiped the name to place a call to her. I cleared my
Elena“What is the meaning of such nonsense?” Kael thundered. I smiled as I stared at the whole scene play out from the small crack in the closet. I needed the perfect vantage point and the closet directly faced the bathroom and gave me the best angle to video everything as it happened. I smiled as I saw his fingers clench repeatedly in the manner that signalled that he was getting angry. Good, I needed him as angry as he could get it make it more disastrous.Already, I had gotten a video of Luca in Kael’s form, on top of Xerxes and it had been easy to fill in the rest till Kael ran into the room. Everything would look like a seamless video before I sent it out to her.“I won’t repeat myself,” he said with a low growl. The men stared at each other, their hands adjusting on their spears. I could smell the tension in the air, the heightened smell of testosterones that poisoned the air. They were scared, that much was obvious, btu they had a duty to their Alpha. They knew that there was
KaelI struggled, stretching my hands above my head, but it felt like the harder I struggled, the easier it was for me to sink further. The dirt had clogged my nose and my lungs were beginning to burn for air, begging for some oxygen. It felt like I had been shoved into a contraption box and everything was closing in very fast. But even with the thoughts of me dying or if I would even get out of here, my heart burned for Darius. It rushed with the thoughts of him being consumed by those vines, whatever they were. Aveline and Drew could manage to break free from it, but what about Darius? I struggled harder but the harder I did, the more impossible it became to break out. I closed my eyes and focused on my beating heart and the sound of everything around me.The sound of the shifting sand, the dirt slipping into my ears, my pulsing heart and the raging thoughts of him. I listened till they began to make sense in my head, they formed a harmonious beat that I could make sense from. In al
