Kayden’s pov

I walked up to Lena. My heart beat very fast. I wondered what she was doing here anyway.

“What in the world are you doing here? This is a private party,” I said as I gripped her arm and took her to a secluded area.

“I came to see you.”

I frowned, shaking my head. "You should go home. This is not a place for you."

She looked me straight in the eyes. "No, I want to stay. I want to see you."

Before I could say more, footsteps came from behind me. I spun around to see my father and mother walking toward us. Others trailed with them. They all halted and stared.

My father’s eyes slitted. “Who is this girl?” he demanded in a voice that was low but carried weight.

I looked at Mira. She was standing silently near a flower, her face calm but her eyes sharp and paying attention to everything. My mouth suddenly went dry. I was about to speak when Lena took a tiny step forward and said in a clear loud voice,

“I’m Lena and I am Kayden’s girlfriend.”
