Blake’s POV:

I pushed the door open so fast that it almost hit the wall. My breathing was everywhere, chest rising like I just ran a marathon. Actually, I did. My legs were burning, and my heart was still stuck in my throat.

Alex was half lying on the bed, his injured shoulder stiff, and he winced the moment he saw me.

“Come slowly, idiot,” he said with a small groan, “what happened? You will break the door like this.”

I tried catching my breath. “Couldn’t… let anyone catch me.”

He frowned. “Why? Where did you go?”

I rubbed the sweat from my forehead. “Outside the academy boundary. Midnight area. I went to meet my mom.”

Alex’s eyes widened so big, I thought they will fall out.

“Are you mad, Silver? They can throw you out! What kind of stupidity is this?”

“Relax,” I said, waving my hand. “You worry too much. Now just drink this.”

He stared at the small metal flask in my hand like it was poison.

“As if I am a five-year-old kid who will obey your order,” he muttered.

I rolled my eyes so h

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   031. Quiet That Broke Me

Blake’s POV:Sunday morning came slow, like it didn’t want to face me either.I woke up on my bed in my own dorm, staring at the ceiling for a long time. Last night after dinner, Liam dropped me here. He insisted I should sleep in my own place since my dorm had better facilities for me to rest. I didn’t argue. I didn’t have the energy. My ankle felt better. Not fully fine, but the sharp pain was gone. When I moved it slowly, there was only a dull ache. Walking still hurt a little, but it was manageable. Being a werewolf had its perks. Self healing was fast if the injury was not too deep.It was Sunday. No classes. No academy pressure. No Coach Vega calling my name. That was a relief.I decided I would stay inside the dorm the whole day. No people. No noise. Just me. If I felt completely fine by night, I would go for a forest walk. I missed that calm. Yesterday morning, everything went wrong before I could even enjoy the forest view.I sat up slowly and stretched my leg carefully. Fine

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   030. When Anger Felt Like Fear

Alex’s POV:The room was quiet, but my head was not.I sat on the edge of the bed, elbows on my knees, fingers pressed together. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the same thing again and again. Blake on the ground. Blood at the corner of his lips. Liam holding him like it was natural, like it was allowed. And Aaran. My jaw tightened.I had seen many fights in the academy. Fights were normal here. Alphas clashed. Egos burned. But what Aaran did today was not a fight. It was rage. It was dirty. And it was aimed at Blake. That thought alone made something twist hard inside my chest. Why did it bother me so much.I dragged a hand through my hair and stood up, pacing the room. My shoulder still had a dull ache, but it was nothing serious. Werewolf healing did its job fast. Physically, I was fine. Mentally, I was not.I stopped near the window. The academy lights outside glowed softly. Night had settled fully now. Usually, nights calmed me. Today, it only made things louder.Aaran’s face

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   029. Disturbed Mind

Blake’s POV:I froze.I looked up slowly, and there he was, standing too close, eyes sharp, jaw tight. His hand was still on my arm, strong, steady. I hated how safe it felt.“What are you doing in Liam’s dorm?” he asked. His voice was not loud, but it was hard. Like he was already annoyed before hearing any answer.I pulled my arm back and leaned properly. “I got injured,” I said, simple. “Liam brought me here.”Alex’s eyes moved over me, from my wrapped ankle to my lip corner. His anger did not soften. If anything, it burned more.“Then let’s go,” he said. “Return to your dorm. Or my dorm. Anywhere but here.”I frowned. “Why?”He crossed his arms. “Because your mom called me.”That made me blink.“What?”“She called me,” Alex repeated. “She said you were crying when you spoke to her. Then suddenly your phone’s signal was gone. After that, your phone was off. She tried again and again. She panicked.”I swallowed.“That’s why I had to come here,” he added. “To check if you are alive o

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   028. Words That Cut Deeper

Blake’s POV:I was still trying to steady my breath when Alex’s hands left my arms. The warmth of his touch vanished too fast, like it was never meant to stay. I stood there, half supported by Liam, half by my own stubborn will.Alex’s eyes moved from me to Aaran. There was anger in them. Real anger. It flashed sharp and bright, and for one foolish second, hope rose in my chest.Maybe now.Maybe he will say it.Maybe he will speak the truth. The Dean cleared his throat. “Aaran,” he said firmly. “You will explain your action right now.”Before Aaran could even open his mouth, Alex stepped forward. My heart dropped.“You can’t blame Aaran only,” Alex said, his voice cold and controlled. “Blake has a way of provoking people. He knows how to push and then play the victim card.”The words landed on me like an axe to the chest.I forgot the pain in my ankle.I forgot the blood on my lip.I forgot everyone else standing there. All I could hear was that.Victim card.I stared at him, not able

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   027. The Price of Silence

Blake’s POV:The first thing I felt was pain. Sharp and burning, spreading from my chest to my ribs like fire. My breath came out rough as someone’s boot pressed into my thorax again.I groaned but didn’t raise my hand.Liam was holding me from behind, his arms tight around my shoulders, trying to pull me back, trying to shield me even though he was shaking himself.“Blake, stop it,” he shouted. “Stop provoking him.”Blood was warm at the corner of my lips. I tasted iron when I breathed. My right side hurt badly. I knew one of my ribs was not happy.Aaran stood in front of me, chest rising, eyes burning with rage. His fist was clenched, knuckles red.“You think you are smart,” he spat. “You think you can talk shit and walk away.”I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and looked straight at him. My vision blurred for a second but I forced myself to stay standing.I did not hit him back.I deserved this. At least that is what my head kept saying.I had no proof. No solid proof of wh

  • Mated to My Rival Step Brother   026. Things Left Unsaid

Alex’s POV:Maya’s fingers were still on my chest when I forced myself to breathe properly. My mind was blank for a second. That mark was staring back at me like it was laughing.I lifted my head slowly and gave a small shrug, trying to look normal.“Maybe during the fall,” I said. “Or when Blake lifted me and took me to the medical room. I was half gone that time. I don’t really know.”My voice sounded flat even to my own ears.Maya looked at me closely. Too closely. Her brows pulled together a little, like she was not fully buying it. But she didn’t push.“Hmm,” she hummed softly. “Could be.”She stepped back and smiled, but the smile did not reach her eyes.“Come,” she said. “Food will get cold.”We sat together and ate. She talked about her training session, about how the coach made them run extra laps. I nodded at the right times, replied with short words. My mind was somewhere else.I barely tasted the food. After eating, Maya packed her things. She touched my shoulder gently.“
