Raven's POV

Elder Kaelith stopped right in front of me, her sharp eyes scanning my face with intense scrutiny. "How do you feel today, child?"

"Happy," I said instantly, a bright grin breaking across my face. "Honestly, I feel amazing."

Elder Kaelith gave a single, firm nod. "Good. We will need to resume our training sessions tomorrow morning. Also, I am going to try to cast a containment barrier around the perimeter of the garden where we usually practice."

I frowned, a wave of worry washing

Raven’s POV From across the room, Darian let out a low chuckle, his voice dripping with amusement. "Just relax, Raven. You know he won't let you go until you give him what he wants."Suddenly, a loud knock came on the lounge door. The three of us paused instantly, our breathing hitching. Valen didn't lower me an inch. He just tilted his head toward the entryway, speaking over his shoulder to Darian. "It's Elder Kaelith. Answer it."As he spoke, his warm, minty breath washed directly over my sensitive core, and a violent tremor ran right through my entire body. My thighs clamped tighter around his neck. Then, my brain finally processed what he had just told Darian to do, and I frantically gripped his thick hair. "Answer it? Are you insane? What if she—"Valen suddenly leaned forward and gave my wet slit a slow, deliberate lick. My voice cut off instantly into a breathless gasp, my mind losing its train of thought as a wave of heat shot straight up my spine.Darian moved casually towar

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER EIGHTY-NINE

Raven's POV Elder Kaelith let out a long breath from her mouth. She dropped a small crystal she had been holding back into her lap, her vibrant purple eyes glowing brightly as she looked straight up at me. "Yes, child?"I stepped onto the grass, rubbing my arms. "I felt a strange pull in this direction from the kitchen, so I came out to see what it was.""As expected," Elder Kaelith said, a small smile playing on her lips. "Mages can feel the use of magic around them. The stronger a mage is, the more clearly they feel it, and the more accurate they are in pinpointing the source."She stood up slowly, brushing off her long robes. "This is precisely why I told you not to use your magic recklessly now that you are twenty-one. Your bindings are gone. I have just created a comfortably wide containment barrier around this spot for our daily practice. The master mages already know my magic, so they would not be alerted to anything happening here. Yours, on the other hand, is new, and unknow

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER EIGHTY-EIGHT

Raven's POV Without another word, he turned on his heel and walked speedily away, disappearing into the house to leave us alone.Darian and I stood there in awkward silence for some minutes, the gentle wind rustling the leaves around us. Finally, we both tried to speak at the exact same time."Raven, I—" Darian started."Look, Darian—" I began. We both stopped immediately. Then, simultaneously, we both said, "You go first."A second later, we both let out a soft laugh, the lingering tension in the air evaporating.Darian stepped closer to me, a soft grin breaking across his face. "I am sorry, Raven. And I mean it. I just... I really didn't like the thought of you putting yourself in harm's way today. I want you to always be safe and happy with us."I let out a soft hum, stepping into his space. "I do too, Darian. But you should also know by now that I can protect myself if need be, especially now that my mage powers are here, okay? I was just curious and worried about you two out her

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER EIGHTY-SEVEN

Raven's POV Elder Kaelith’s eyes were wide with a mixture of displeasure and disbelief. She stared down at me, her jaw tense. "I told you not to do that, child. I strictly warned you not to use your magic until I could create a secure, containment-barriered place in the garden where we can practice safely."I gave her a sheepish, apologetic look, nervously shuffling my bare feet on the stone floor. "I am sorry, Elder Kaelith. It just sort of happened in the heat of the moment. But I promise it won't happen ever again."Elder Kaelith threw her hands up in the air in pure exasperation. "The damage could have already been done, Raven!" She let out a tired sigh, muttering under her breath, "Children."Without even bothering to ask what had just transpired out in the courtyard, or why eight naked Alphas were currently chilling around, she turned around and walked off back toward the building, probably to resume her sleep.Darian shifted back into his human skin a second later. He wasn't i

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER EIGHTY-SIX

Raven's POV The courtyard has exploded into chaos, filled with the scary sound of snapping jaws and guttural growls. I watched from behind my pillar, my chest heaving as the heated clash unfolded. Honestly, these northern Alphas were funny if they thought they could just walk onto neutral territory and overpower my mates. Based on the little I knew about them and what I had already seen of their fighting skills, I knew for a fact that those Alphas were in for a serious beating. They totally underestimated who they were dealing with.Darian was a force of nature, tearing effortlessly through the wolves that were lunging for him. He moved like a dark shadow, dodging paws and using his massive weight to slam the attackers directly into the stone walls. I noticed, though, that he was deliberately holding back from delivering any killing blows. He was keeping it strictly disciplinary. Valen seemed to share the same sentiment, but he was significantly rougher with his execution. He was

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER EIGHTY-FIVE

Valen's POV I honestly could not believe my own ears. I knew for a fact that Vorex did not like me, but this whole stunt was pushing it too far. The fact that he wasn't even willing to investigate the authenticity of the document further just showed how much he truly hated me deep down. The moment Onyx had shown up with that suspicious paper, Vorex was probably only too happy to find any excuse to replace me with him. The exact reason for his animosity toward me was completely unknown, though.I just let out a sudden laugh—the kind of forgotten, slightly deranged laugh that used to terrify my court—and then I snarled out a single word. "Never."Vorex and the group of Alphas he had traveled down with looked deeply displeased. Honestly, it was expected. Looking closely at the crowd, only the oldest and longest-serving Alphas were present today. They were the men who had worked closely with my father for decades, the ones who probably never liked the fact that an unfavored, emotionally

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER TWELVE

Raven’s POVThe silence that followed the messenger’s announcement was broken by a sound I didn’t expect. Valen burst into laughter. It was loud and full of mockery. He crossed his arms, his shoulders shaking with amusement as he looked at Darian."Well, well," Valen chuckled, his black eyes dancin

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER ELEVEN

Darian's POV Watching them lead Raven toward the center of the courtyard made my jaw tighten. She looked so small, her eyes darting between me and Valen as the workers guided her toward that ridiculous contraption. It was a cage made of thick, pulsating vines that looked like they had a life of th

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER SEVEN

Raven's POVThe two Kings were staring at each other like they were ready to burn the whole world down. Darian suddenly decided he was done talking. He ignored Valen completely and started to walk away, still holding my sleeve firmly.Valen’s hand shot out like a snake and grabbed my other sleeve,

  • Mated to Rival Kings   CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Raven's POVWhen I stepped back into our room, the air felt different. It wasn't the comfortable, messy chatter I was used to. Sheila and Dan were sitting on their beds, and as soon as I walked in, they sat up straight, their eyes wide. They were keeping a strange, respectable distance from me, lik
