Lyra's POV

Nikky was tall, like 7 feet high, taller than most men. She looked more like a man than a woman.

She had the tattoo of a serpent on her neck, and her face looked rough.

The way she walked scared the wits out of me.

Then she paused as soon as she reached where I was.

She fixed her gaze on me. “I’m going to avenge my sister’s death,” she said, “I know you killed her, Raven.”

I couldn’t speak. My throat locked up, and all I could do was stare as she turned and strode onto the field, her braid swinging like a horse's tail.

Killed her sister? The words kept playing in my head.

What kind of life had Ravenna lived? And why was I the one stuck paying for it?

Orion’s voice snapped me from my thoughts as he continued through the speakers.

“And now, I present to you, Princess Ravenna!”

My heart sank. Ravenna. Not Lyra. The name felt like a chain around my neck.

I froze, my feet glued to the tunnel floor.

The crowd started cheering me up, but it died down slowly when they didn't see
