Lyra’s POV
I stared at the man before me, utterly speechless. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out as his eyes roamed up and down my frame. I had to admit, Alpha Orion was the most attractive man I had ever seen—with his chiseled jaw, impressive physique, and striking features. But I was too frightened to appreciate his looks in that moment; everything felt way too intense. I was scared.
“What the fuck will I use a mate for?” he snapped. His harsh tone made it clear he was not happy with the idea of a mate bond. But why would something so beautiful as a mate bond make him feel so disgusted? I couldn’t make sense of it at all.
I gulped nervously, seeing his growing impatience, which frightened me even more. “He is definitely not going to like the idea of a mate between us,” the man said, as I opened my mouth to ask a question, only to shut it again, lacking the courage to speak. What was going on? Who was this person he mentioned who wouldn’t like the idea of a mate bond?
“Beta Keto, you are here,” the rude woman said, appearing out of nowhere. Her face was filled with fear and respect as she walked towards the man, who remained relaxed, his eyes focused on me. Beta? This was his Beta. The rude woman who called herself the woman of the house, whose name I later discovered was Ruth, glanced around as if searching for something and asked, “Where is the Alpha now?”
“He couldn’t make it today; he had some important matters to deal with,” the man replied, rising to his feet and adjusting his suit. “The princess will be coming with me. The Alpha will meet her at home” With that, he stood up and walked out of the house, while Ruth turned to me and said, “What’s going on here? How can you be the Beta's mate? You have met him before, and you weren’t his mate. How did this happen?”
I had no answer for what was happening. I opened my mouth to say, “I really don’t remember anything,” but it was a lie. How could I explain that I was a lonely soul trapped in the princess’s body? It is not going to make any sense because it doesn't even make sense to me at that moment.
“Oh, shut up,” Ruth snapped, cutting me off. “One more word from you and I will push you from a balcony this time.” She glanced around frantically to ensure no one was listening. “Don’t forget our plan. Seduce the Alpha if you need to. We need him on our side and you have to break that stupid bond with the Beta. Our plans can’t fail.” I was at a loss for words as she pushed me forward, urging me to move.
I glanced back to meet her cold, icy stare before taking a deep breath and walking out of the house. A sleek black car waited for me just outside. I entered the car, where the Beta was already seated in the back seat. I took a seat close to him, trying to steady my nerves.
He didn’t say a word, preferring silence, and I couldn’t think of any meaningful words either. My entire world had taken a sudden turn. What business did I have with the Alpha, and why did it seem necessary to seduce him to achieve my goals? As for the Beta, how was I supposed to break the mate bond? It seemed strange, but I already felt so drawn to him that breaking the bond might be difficult.
“If you know what is best, don’t tell the Alpha about this. I will find a solution to this nonsense soon,” he said dismissively. I merely stared at him, unable to find the courage to respond.
We soon arrived at a grand mansion, with the Beta remaining silent throughout the drive and making no effort to address the mate bond any further, which was confusing. “This way, ma’am,” a maid said politely, her expression cold as she added, “Come with me.” By then, the Beta had already disappeared, but I didn’t think about it. I had more pressing matters at hand—namely, meeting Alpha Orion and understanding this situation with him.
“He is working out in the gym right now, but he wouldn’t mind talking to you,” the maid said as we arrived in front of a door.
Is working out the important matters he had to deal with that stopped him from coming.
It was a private gym in the Alpha's mansion as the maid slowly pushed the door open. The space wasn't large, but it was well-equipped, with various pieces of exercise equipment arranged neatly. From the corner of the room, I spotted a figure drinking water from a glass. He seemed to notice me as he finished his drink, setting the cup down and fixing his stare on me.
He walked toward me, his eyes locked on mine, and stopped right in front of me, his tall frame towering over mine. Standing at exactly 6'4", he was even more good looking than the Beta. His dark hair, damp with sweat from his workout, clung to his face, giving him a rugged, and very manly look. He wore a fitted sleeveless gym shirt that brought out his impressive biceps and a pair of athletic joggers that highlighted his powerful physique. I gulped, unable to tear my eyes away from him, he was so hot. At that moment, something occurred to me.
Just like before, I felt an attraction I couldn't explain, and it seemed he felt it too, as his expression shifted for a moment before quickly returning to normal. My wolf stirred again, adding to my confusion as the Alpha and I locked eyes. Suddenly, Nara, my wolf whispered, "Mate…"
"Mate?" I asked, shocked. How could this be possible? The Alpha and I were supposed to be mates? but the Beta was already my mate. What was happening? How could I have two mates at the same time? What cruel game was the universe playing with me? Was my wolf perhaps mistaken?
“A mate?” The Alpha seemed taken aback, his deep voice sending shivers through me as he continued to stare. I felt small under his intense look, unable to look away as he asked, “How exactly are you my mate all of a sudden?” It felt like déjà vu, as the Beta had said something very similar.
I felt his hand under my chin, lifting my face slowly so we locked eyes. My heart raced as I struggled to find the right words. “What a shame you are my mate,” he said, his eyes boring into mine. “It seems I will have to punish you ten times harder than I intended for daring to be my mate.” His words shocked me, and my heart pounded furiously. His tone was so psychopathic that it sent shivers down my spine. What was he planning to do to me? Why would he punish me for something I can't control?
Suddenly, I heard a very familiar voice say, “They are ready, sir?” It shocked me to the core. No, it couldn’t be him—perhaps I was imagining things. Alpha Orion glanced at the person behind me before nodding and then looking back at me. His hands remained on my chin as he gently caressed my face with his thumb. The small gesture stirred something within me that I couldn’t quite describe at the moment.
“I guess I will have to play with you later,” he said, removing his hand from my face and walking away. I stood there, dumbfounded, struggling to process everything that had just happened.
The familiar voice that had announced something to the Alpha spoke again, “What do you think you are doing, Raven?” no it can't be him. But the voice was too familiar. I turned to find Jacob standing there. My heart nearly leaped out of my chest as our eyes met. “Jacob?” I called out, stunned. This was my fiancé, the man who had left me just a day before our wedding. What on earth was he doing here?
“Shhh,” he said, placing a finger over his lips as he walked closer. “Here, my name is Kevin. Don’t use my real name.” He closed the distance between us while I stared at him, trying to make sense of the situation. What was he doing here? Why was he here now, especially after running away with my best friend a day before my wedding?
“We have a mission, Raven, and you need to stick to it,” he said, gently grabbing my hands. “You have to seduce the Alpha at all costs. Use your charms—you are pretty, so make the most of it.” He glanced around nervously, then leaned in to whisper, “Ruth told me about your mate's bond with the Beta. I don’t know how that’s possible since you are supposed to be mated to me,” he said. I didn’t feel any mate bond between us. We had been mates before, but he had broken the bond. Does that mean the original owner of this body was mated to him too just like me? What is going on here?
“Anyway, it doesn’t matter. Just make sure you break that mate bond so the Alpha doesn’t suspect anything.” He paused, looking around nervously, before leaning in to give me a kiss on the lips. What the hell? Did he just kiss me or should I say Princess Ravenna? “Once this is all over and we have the money we need, we will pay Ruth off so she can leave you alone, go far away, and be together. Just do your part and seduce him more.” With that, he walked out of the gym room.
I stood there, dumbfounded, unable to process what was happening. The entire situation felt confusing. What connection does Princess Raven have with Jacob? What were they planning with Ruth and what is the need to pay her off so I can be free? Why do they need me to seduce the Alpha? So many questions but I had no answer to any of them. What the heck is going on?
Lyra's POVI stood in the middle of the gym, my head turning like a rollercoaster. My lips still ached from where Jacob had kissed me just minutes ago. Jacob, my fiancé, the guy who’d jilted me some days ago, leaving me heartbroken and shattered to pieces. And yet, somehow, it feels like I'm stuck with him again. He even has the mind to kiss me, like we were lovers.I felt really annoyed and frustrated at the same time. I was confused as fuck. While I was still trying to process the whole jargon flowing through my head, I heard the gym door opening.I turned to look and saw Alpha Orion walk in.My goodness, this dude looks like a smoking mountain, or a freaking giant. Everything about him was intimidating as hell, down to the way he looks at me, the exact kind of look a lion would give to a puppy. It made me feel very uncomfortable.Slowly, I placed my sweaty palms on my gown and tried to act like nothing was wrong.Orion stopped a few distances away from me and crossed his arms
Lyra's POVI couldn't stop my heart from beating very fast, it almost felt like it was going to come out of my chest. Keto’s grip on my hand was as firm as iron. He pulled me down to a dark, narrow hallway. The air inside the hallway was cool compared to the hot air outside. We got to a spot where I saw a set of metal stairs, and it led to what had to be an underground basement. I became so scared, and the sheer terror of what awaited me once I got to the drilling pit hugged me tightly as we walked. What awaits me there? That question lingered in my mind like the pull of gravity.“Where are you taking me?” I asked, even though my voice was shaky. It was quite obvious from my voice that I was really scared, but I couldn’t help it.Keto didn’t answer. He just kept walking as though he was deaf and dumb. His refusal to answer my question made my stomach hurt. I haven't heard any tales about Keto, unlike Orion, but I could tell he was loyal to Orion. I was terrified of Orion, but Ket
Lyra's POVTears stung my eyes as I turned to Keto, “What are they going to do to me?”The men in the hall started circling around me.They looked really cruel, and their hungry stares made me feel disgusted. Keto folded his arms, his face hard but not as cold as Orion’s. He took a glance at the men, then returned his gaze to me. “If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about them,” he said, “They’re the mouth. Orion’s the teeth.”My breath seized. Orion. Of course. He was the real danger, the one who could crush me with a single word. My eyes went to the heavy metal door we had just entered.Good to see it was still open, but Keto's words interrupted me.“Don’t even think about it,” He said. But I didn’t listen. His words meant no shit to me anymore. Panic surged all over me as I ran towards the door.I could hear the men laughing behind me like a pack of hyenas. The fact that Keto didn’t try to stop me should have made me worried, but I was too preoccupied with my escape plans.I ran as
Lyra's POVI found myself in a small room, alone with Keto. He had dragged me down here at Orion's command. This time around, the only thing on my mind was the way Keto had betrayed me after he had agreed to help me escape. We were alone now, and I couldn’t keep the anger anymore.“You betrayed me!” I shouted, “You said you’d help me escape, and instead you led me straight to the drilling pit!”Keto’s face didn’t look like he was feeling any atom of guilt. He crossed his arms and leaned his back on the wall like he is enjoying the whole show. “Would you have had sex with the men instead, huh?" he asked.I scoffed at him, “Stop acting like you did me a favor, you bloody coward!” I moved closer to him and raised my finger at his chest. “You’re just Orion’s errand dog, too weak to even be called a man. But you know what? I’ll tell him you’re my mate. Let’s see how he is going to react.”Keto’s eyes widened, and I could see fear spreading across his face.He looked around the room,
Lyra's POVToday might be the day I die. Or maybe the Moon Goddess will toss me into another body, like some cruel game of chance. Who knows? I sat on the small bed I found in the small room, staring at the window, deep in my despair. My life lately has been on a roller coaster of disaster upon disaster, and now, the end of it, I guess. My hands wouldn't stop shaking, and the only form of ease I could get was to speak out loud, like I was talking to someone else in the room, even though I was alone. “I would prefer to die honestly, facing death would by far be better than living in this ugly world, I wouldn't call it a nightmare. Nightmare was an understatement."Then I caught the sound of the door opening behind me. I didn’t need to turn to know who it was. That heavy push, that ghostly aura—it was Keto. When it came to me, Orion always sent him. Maybe I was too disgusting for the Alpha to bother with himself. Maybe he just wanted to punish me—or Ravenna, really. I still didn’
Lyra's POVKeto stepped back, his face went pale in an instant, but he didn’t say anything. I couldn't say anything either, my throat was too tight to speak. The figure at the door walked in, and for a moment, I almost opened my mouth to sigh in relief. It was Jacob, or Kevin, they called him Kevin around here. Kevin's eyes flicked between me and Keto, and I could feel the heat of his anger. He had seen the whole thing, but I am kind of happy he was the one, not Orion.Infact, I was drunk in happiness that he saw it. The anger and jealousy in his eyes made me joyous, so joyous I almost forgot about the battle ahead.“What’s the meaning of this?” Kevin growled. He took a step forward, and I almost laughed. My gaze went to Keto, and our eyes met. Somehow, I could tell he was relieved, but there's more; he probably was wondering if he was the one Kevin was talking to or if it was me. I don't think Kevin knew that Keto was aware of his affair with Ravenna, but I knew he wouldn't be foo
Lyra's POV“I want you to tell me about Nikki, what's she like?” I asked, I turned to face him this time. “I want to know about the strongest female werewolf Orion is so proud of.”Keto turned to face me, “She’s a beast,” he said. “She is extremely fast and ruthless. But you’re Ravenna. You've taken down worse, I'm sure you can handle her."His words didn’t help. It only made the unease in my chest stronger. The more explanation he gave about how strong Ravenna was or Nikki's fighting exploits, the more it dawned on me that I was screwed. I took my gaze away from him to the window, in a bid to look for something to distract me. I could see the massive structure ahead of us, the stadium, just like Keto had said. It had a gray concrete wall with colorful banners around it. Crowds were already gathering outside. I rolled down the window, and their voices made my skin prickle. This was the place, I'm sure of it. The place where I’d either fight like Ravenna or die as Lyra.I pushe
Lyra's POVNikky was tall, like 7 feet high, taller than most men. She looked more like a man than a woman. She had the tattoo of a serpent on her neck, and her face looked rough. The way she walked scared the wits out of me.Then she paused as soon as she reached where I was.She fixed her gaze on me. “I’m going to avenge my sister’s death,” she said, “I know you killed her, Raven.”I couldn’t speak. My throat locked up, and all I could do was stare as she turned and strode onto the field, her braid swinging like a horse's tail. Killed her sister? The words kept playing in my head. What kind of life had Ravenna lived? And why was I the one stuck paying for it?Orion’s voice snapped me from my thoughts as he continued through the speakers.“And now, I present to you, Princess Ravenna!”My heart sank. Ravenna. Not Lyra. The name felt like a chain around my neck. I froze, my feet glued to the tunnel floor. The crowd started cheering me up, but it died down slowly when they didn't see
Lyra's POVAs soon as we got to the rooftop, I folded my hands. "Since you know about my affair with Jacob, why haven't you told Orion?" Ben didn't reply immediately. He kept rubbing his temples. "I was expecting you to ask how I knew.""Answer my question," I said, hissing."Why didn't you tell Orion I was planning to kill him?" He ignored my question and asked instead.I didn't respond, I just kept my gaze on him."Exactly, just as I thought." He walked close to me, but I took steps backward."I'm a politician, Ravenna." He said, "And as a politician, information is power.""You disgust me, and the more you talk, the more irritated I get." I confessed, "So plotting to kill your own brother is politics to you?""Who's your mother, for goodness' sake?" I asked.I was hoping to get on his nerves, but he was more thick-skinned than I thought, unlike Orion, who was easy to offend with words."I killed my own mother," he confessed, "But Orion doesn't know this."My eyes widened in utter
Keto's POVPeople often say loyalty doesn't exist.I have overheard drunk men, women, and even werewolves speaking along the lines of loyalty."Loyalty doesn't exist, no one can ever be loyal."But they were wrong, because all my life had been about loyalty.I had always been loyal to Orion even before he became the leader of the pack. But as the saying goes, 'Love makes even the bravest of men do stupid things.'I had allowed my love or secret desire for Ravenna to consume me, thinking I wouldn't be caugh
Lyra's POV"What is it?" Keto asked, he noticed the change in my countenance."Is there a fucking camera in my bedroom?" I shot, "Did you know about this?" My voice was louder than I intended.Keto's eyes widened in disbelief, "Huh? What do you mean?" He asked. The next thing I saw was his feet hitting the ground, even before I could process his question."We're fucked, Keto, Orion was probably watching the whole thing." For a moment, the air in the room became hot, I placed my hand over my chest to steady my breath.I wasn't as afraid for me as much as I was afraid for Keto.Keto's face went pale, like his blood was drained from him the minute he heard we were being watched. He stood motionless for a while, lost for words.I pointed in the direction where I had seen the camera."We should run Keto, as far away as possible, before Orion kills us both." I pleaded. He didn't answer me, he just went straight to the spot where the camera was placed and removed it."Keto, are you even li
Lyra's POV Before I could blink my eyes twice, I felt his hands on my waist, and the touch sent a jolt of electricity through my body. I leaned into him, and his hands went from my waist down to my bare ass. He grabbed them tightly, and I let out a soft moan. He didn't look like the calm Keto I used to know, his eyes flashed with intensity like a lion ready to devour. He swept me off the ground and hauled me onto the bed. I let out a soft gasp, I clasped my thighs together, my legs raised slightly as I felt myself grow wet down there. Within minutes, he loosened his sleeves and belt, pulled his clothes, and threw them in a different direction. He climbed on the bed, his eyes fixed on mine, but his hands held my left leg. A soft touch that made me yearn for all of him in me
Lyra's POVThe minute he saw me, his eyes widened in fear as panic washed over him.Orion's eyes rolled between me and him, he was obviously confused about why I was pointing at the man.Keto drew closer to me, he pinched me lightly, a gesture that reminded me of our agreement earlier.I swallowed a lump, but my fingers were still pointed at him.How do I explain it now without making a fool of myself? An idea popped up, "Sir, there's dirt on your shirt." I said, pointing to the left side of his shoulder."Oooh,
Lyra's POVI swallowed the saliva in my mouth, and my legs started shaking."What did you say?" I asked."Who's Lyra?" He inquired again, "I heard you and Kira talking about Lyra."I don't know what you think you heard, Keto, but now's not the time to ask me questions, after everything I've been through. What I need right now is rest, not interrogations."His eyes narrowed, "It's a simple question, Who is Lyra?" He pressed."Keto, I have no idea who Lyra is; you mus
Lyra's POV"Why are you both looking at me like you've got something to hide?" Keto asked, his eyeballs rolling to the left at me, and to the right at Kira."Don't fucking play that card on me," Kira replied. "You're the one hiding behind the door like a spying criminal." Kira shot back as she eyed him from head to toe. From the way Keto was looking, I knew he heard some of our conversations, and my heart wouldn't stop the fast beats.I kept my gaze fixed on him for any hint he knew the truth about Ravenna and I, but so far his face looked neutral, like he didn't hear that part, or he was simply good at hiding it.Keto raised his hand up in mock surrender, "Yeah," he admitted, "You're right, I was at the door for a while.""Why?" My voice in tandem with Kira's voice as we asked him.He didn't say a word, he just strolled into the ward like he owns the fucking hospital."I needed to be sure it was the right ward before knocking." He said, his tone playful. It was a lie, I knew it, Kir
Lyra's POVI faked a smile, but inside I was shaking. How could she tell I wasn't Ravenna in just a five-minute conversation?"I'm lost, I don't get you," I said, even though my voice sounded weak. "Are you trying to say, I'm impersonating Ravenna?" I added. She didn't say a word for some seconds. She twirled her lips, and I could tell she was still wrapping her head around the possibility of transmigration."Alright then, if you insist you're Ravenna, tell me, what happened to your memories?" "How am I supposed to know? You're the healer, you're the one to tell me what's wrong with me." "No, this is not amnesia." She said, "This is transmigration, and before you try and deny it." She cut me off before I could say anything."Ravenna is left-handed, but as far as I can tell, you're right-handed."Was I right-handed? Yes, as far as Lyra is concerned, I'm right-handed, but I never knew that part of me was obvious in Ravenna's body."Secondly," she continued, "Before you woke up from
Lyra's POVThe first thing that popped up in my head as I eased back into consciousness was the sound of heavy rainfall.I opened my eyes, looked around. Where's everyone? I muttered under my breath.I was still in the field where Nikki was buried, at the exact same spot where I had passed out.My clothes were completely soaked by the rain, and I couldn't stop myself from shaking so much that my teeth vibrated. Why did they leave me here alone in the field, under the rain and without help?Did they leave me here to die? I thought within, or perhaps they thought I had died.I tried getting up from the ground, my eyes scanned for any covering that could shield me from the rain, but I was too weak to stand up.Then I tried crawling, and that was when it dawned on me that I was paralyzed: I could move my head, but not my body.Fear gripped me. If nobody comes out here to help, I'd probably die out of cold.My gaze turned to the direction where Nikki had been buried, but the coffin was no
