Five.

Damien’s POV

Why did I agree to pick her up? I had managed to avoid it for years, well since I left school anyway, but I guess I had to get it over and done with eventually. I wouldn’t be able to avoid going to the school when I was Alpha, after all the Alpha over sees physical training for the final year students.

As soon as I pull up in the parking lot the girls are watching me. The conversations turning to me and some already becoming flustered, making it was easy enough to smell them, their aromas giving them away and I screw my nose up at them. It was not what I wanted to be smelling and Vivian saunters towards me with the biggest grin on her face, but its not her scent I pick up because other than her make up she had no real scent, its my half sisters. Irina was here, somewhere and I had to see her even if it was from afar.

Vivian runs forward and embraces me, pressing her lips to my face leaving a sweet sticky residue behind, she wreaked more of makeup today than ever before but there was another scent on her, faint but it was definitely there. I could smell Irina on her and I wondered why because she had never smelt of her before, not like this anyway or maybe I just had not paid attention. Once we are away from the gathering crowd I will be questioning her about it.

Vivian leads me through the hallways, refusing to drop my hand, her long nails digging into my skin while showing off her other hand with my mothers engagement ring to anyone that was interested and telling them that they would be receiving an invitation to the wedding soon which led to a bunch of girls squealing, the girls that are desperate to find their mates.

I wanted a small wedding but father insisted it had to be the greatest event of the year and therefore everyone would be arriving, even packs that we had partnered with in the past were being invited to celebrate the strength in our pack.

Listening to the girls giggling and talking while Vivian refused to let go of my hand was dull and tedious, but I knew Irina was nearby and kept an eye out for her, her fresh scent strong in the hallways and I spot her peeking out of a door watching us, actually not us, she was watching me, she gives me a weak smile and a little nod of her head but the smile does not reach her honey coloured eyes and something inside me knew something was wrong as her eyes flicker over to Vivian.

When Vivian spots her, her grip tightens around my hand and she plants her lips on me as my half sister runs out of the room and down the hallway but before she leaves I see a heap of sadness in her, a sadness that made no sense to me because her mother was safe, she had no reason to be sad unless she could scent me too.

I wanted to go after her, I wanted to check that she was okay but Vivian’s hand was like a shield, blocking me.

“Don’t worry about her, she is just a nobody. A toy that everyone likes to kick and punch” Her hand cups my face, trying to turn it towards her.

I narrow my eyes at Vivian, changing my tone “What is that supposed to mean?”

Her eyes widen and her voice rises a little “She gets bullied a lot”

I turn on my future wife “Are you the one bullying her Vivian?” I wasn't actually planning on asking her, but the way she was acting and knowing that Irina's scent was on her, I just had to know.

She back tracks instantly, telling me she wished she hadn’t said anything, that she would never do such a thing, yet somehow I knew that she was lying. Maybe it was gut instinct or maybe it was because she had lied about these things in the past. Vivian wasn’t exactly a soft hearted girl but either way I would make sure she never bullied her again.

“Vivian, I want you to stay away from Irina”

She pouts at me like a sulky teenager “How do you know her name baby?”

"Vivian, I am going to be Alpha, it is my duty to know every member of the pack and besides, my father is always on my case to know who is who."

Vivian rolls her eyes at my answer.

“I mean it Vivian, if you do anything to her then we are over and stop calling me baby”

I could not stand being referred to as baby, I was the future Alpha, a leader, not a baby

I would have dumped Vivian along time ago if it wasn’t for my father. She got on my nerves a lot and I had learnt to put up with it over the years. Most of the time I could reign her in. Vivian had been waiting for years to turn eighteen. It would mean that we could finally get married. Yet now the impending date was looming, there was something else I was curious about, she had not shifted yet and she hated talking about it.

The arguments I had with father over it happened almost daily since Vivian had turned eighteen. He didn't know why she had not shifted either, yet told me the wedding needed to go ahead either way. I understood that our wedding was for the best interest of the pack, but I could never get over the nagging feeling that Vivian and I were not supposed to be together. Then I finally meet my half sister, the girl who had been chosen to be my future Luna by the Moon Goddess.

Vivian is a complete loser, the only reason she wants to marry Damion is because he's the up and coming Alpha she doesn't love ... him I think she can only love her self
