Calliope's POV
“Do you think this dress would look good on me?” Xyla asked for the umpteenth time that morning.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “Xyla, you've worn a thousand dresses already, this one is just fine!”
“I want it to be perfect for Tyler, who knows, he might just ask me to marry him!” She squeaked.
I laughed softly. “Yes, we know you're both in love and the next thing to do after high school is getting married.”
“Xandros might declare it publicly that you're his mate too, you should dress nice.” She dropped the bombshell and my eyes widened in shock.
“What?” I blurted.
“You think you can hide it from me but I've seen it since the first day he got back, he's never nice to anyone, not even me so when he stood up for you, I knew something was up. My doubts were confirmed after I saw you always blushing whenever his around and he lights up around you as well, it's not hard to figure out.” Xyla explained.
I blushed and tried to deny her allegations. “It's not that.”
“Yes it is and I don't understand why you didn't tell me about it! I'm your best-friend, did you think I would object to it?” She said, feeling a bit hurt.
I pulled her into my embrace. “I'm sorry.” I apologized.
She softened and acknwoledged my apology then broke the hug. We continued talking about our secret love affair and ten minutes later, five ladies walked in, allegedly from Xandros and they were to prepare me for the ball tonight.
It's the last day of highschool and this is the pack's version of prom. A night where mates get to propose or announce their bond to the whole world.
Five hours later I almost cried and I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
“You look beautiful.” Xyla whispered, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
“I know.” I whispered, holding back my tears.
We got into the limousine Xandros sent to convey us and when we alighted at the venue, all eyes were on us and I could hear gasps, murmurs and evidence of disbelief.
“Walk with your head held up Callie, after tonight, they'll all have to bow their heads when they see you.” Xyla instructed.
I smiled and held my head up high proudly, her mate came over and stole her away from me, leaving me standing alone and I could feel some gazes boring through my skin.
Some of the boys tried to approach me but the moment they come close, they seem to be respelled by some strong force and they looked at me fearfully and walked away, which was confusing.
“Aren't you supposed to be standing with the maids?” I heard a snarky voice comment and I turned around to see Thalia and her minions walking up to me.
Her face was plastered with heavy make-up, she wore a ridiculously gigantic dress and her perfume was choking.
“You're here?” I asked, uninterested.
She snickered. “What are you doing here and what the hell are you wearing?”
“Go away Thalia!” I shunned her, calmly then took a glass of champagne and sipped it gingerly, trying to avoid her.
“Are you ignoring me? Just because Xandros has been nice to you at school doesn't mean you can say whatever you want to me, after tonight you'll have to grovel at my feet because I'm going to be the Luna of this pack.” Thalia announced, arrogantly.
I guffawed. “Okay.”
Her face turned red from anger. “Did you just scoff at me?”
“I mean, your face is buried underneath so much make-up that I almost mistook you for a clown, don't they tell you the truth? You look like a plastic doll, how do you breath? If Xandros will be chosing a wannabe ugly barbie with little boobs and a distorted shape as a Luna then may the goddess have mercy on us all!” I insulted and she gasped.
I leaned in and whispered into her ears ‘Yes Thalia, they think you're ugly too and I overheard the girls saying you have no boobs!’
She was embarrassed and stumped her foot on the ground, turned to her minions and began to insult them. I laughed softly and walked away from the mess, feeling fulfilled.
‘Step outside.’ I heard a voice in my head.
I knew it was Xandros and the moment I stepped outside the ballroom, I felt a firm hand grab my hand and we began to run, we got to a secluded and dark area before we stopped.
“Are we eloping?” I asked, joking as I caught my breath.
Xandros ran his fingers through his air and he looked breathtaking as he turned to face me and the moon shone on his face.
“Wanted to have sometime alone with you.” He explained then hugged me firmly. I chuckled and eased into his hug, inhaling his scent.
“You look beautiful.” He whispered into my ears.
“Thank you.” I said, blushing. “Why are we-”
“Hush, let's remain like this for a little while.” He interrupted and then I kept mute.
We stayed like that for ten more minutes and then it was time to go. “Whatever happens, know that I love you Callie.” He uttered as we approached the ballroom.
I blushed, his words warming my heart and I mumbled an answer as we parted ways. Xyla grabbed my arm and waltzed me to her side, smirking. “Tell me all what happened.”
Chuckling, I playfully hit her arm. “You'll see.”
We continued enjoying the party until Xandros stepped on the podium, spoke into the microphone and my heart raced with every word he said. He started by stating the reason we were all there, congratulating every student on their graduation.
“Tonight, the goddess has blessed us with a full moon, the perfect night to find our mates, to connect with the ones we love and bond with our life partners.” He uttered then briefly glanced at me, causing butterflies to flutter in my stomach.
“He's talking about you…” Xyla cooed and I smiled.
“Stop it!” I chastised her, softly.
“I'm not exempted, I also have a mate and she's the best thing that can happen to me!” Xandros announced.
The crowed cheered and jeered, whistling happily and I could see from the corner of my eye, I could see Thalia fuming in anger, I smiled. It was finally happening, the day I've always dreamt of.
“Welcome, my mate and the future Luna of this pack, my woman and the one I love…..” Xandros drawled, causing a tensional suspense.
I straightened the hem of my dress and began to slowly make my way towards him.
“Thalia Flinch!” Xandros yelled.
I halted, my breath hitching and my heart skipping a beat. I heard loud noises and then nothing, shakily, I watched Xandros walk up to Thalia and kiss her fully on the lips, Xyla held my arm and tried to get a reaction out of me as I was frozen in time but I didn't respond, then I snapped out of it.
“No!” I yelled lowly. “No!” I screamed, my wolf growling and getting everyone's attention.
Xyla tried to stop me but I yanked her hands away and grabbed Xandros. “How dare you! I'm your mate! The woman you love, so what hogwash are you talking about? You told me you loved me, that today everyone would know-”
He slapped my hands away. “That what? That you're my mate? You think I'd chose the daughter of a nobody who sucked up to my sister as a mate? I see through you and you're nothing more than a lowly omega who's after my money, you're not worthy of my love!” He spat, hurtfully.
I felt an excruciating pain tear through me, every word of his resounding in my head. Slowly, I began to back away, a high pitched sound resonated the pain and it was unbearable, I turned to my heels and began to run, ignoring Xyla's panicked call and all of a sudden, I was sent flying few meters away, a car rammed into me.
Blood quickly seeped from my forehead and I struggled to breath, fe
eling my lungs give way. I closed my eyes, the pain finally stopped and darkness took over, taking my last breath.

Xandros’ PovFour years, for four years have I left the city to study overseas. Apparently, being the heir had more problems to the title and for four years have I not set eyes on her. She was little and timid when I left, too young to know the impact of what was happening, too cute and innocent to realize that me gently patting her on the head wasn't because I was bullying her neither was it to spite my twin sister. It was the only chance I could get to sniff in her scent and hold on to that remembrance of her and every painful day is a reminder that she needs to be protected, so when I had to chance to return, I went against my father's wishes of being homeschooled and enrolled in the same school as her.It was barely a week yet I was engrossed in the beautiful woman she has grown to be. “What the hell did you do to her Xandros? Did you break her? She barely said anything after she went towards your room's direction.” Xyla accused me as I stepped into the living room.My eyes fell
Calliope's POV If looks could kill, I would be most definitely dead by now because not only Thalia but other girls in class stabbed me over a million times in their minds as Xandros chose to sit beside me. Thalia raised her hand.“Yes, Miss Flinch?” The teacher acknowledged her.“Can you appoint Xandros to sit with me instead?” She requested, arrogantly.“And why is that?” Mrs Salvatore questioned.“He's new and doesn't know how things work around here, besides I want him to sit with me and not some dirty smelling lowclass dirt bag.” She insulted me openly.Mrs Salvatore looked at me apologetically and I smiled weakly at her, I knew she had no choice, Thalia's father is the biggest shareholder of the school itself.“My father would approve of anyone who makes his daughter's teaching environment more conducive.” Thalia added, a subtle hint of bribery.“Mr Xavier, if you would-”“No.” Xandros interjected and Thalia was taken aback.“No?” Thalia repeated.“I'd like to stay here ma'am, I
Calliope's POV‘Shit!’ I cursed lightly as my skin got scalded as I rammed my hand into a hot cup of coffee.‘Hell shit! I'll be damned!’ I cursed even loudly.“Language Callie! Language!” My mom yelled at me and I hissed more before dabbing off the stains from the table and placing my hand under running water to dampen the burning sensation.“We're gonna be late for school Callie, hurry up!” A female voice called out from outside. I grabbed my backpack, threw it on my back and sprinted out of the house, waving my mom and baby brother goodbye. I got into a car and shut the door behind me.“You're early today princess.”“Shut up and drive Xyla!” I snickered.Xyla chuckled and ignited the car engine, driving away from the hood. “You look hurt, boy are you in a mood today!” “I burnt my hand with hot coffee, how stupid can that be?” I complained bitterly and she laughed at me. I threw her a friendly punch and she chuckled, we both laughed and gisted all the way down to school. She pulle
