Calliope's POV
‘Shit!’ I cursed lightly as my skin got scalded as I rammed my hand into a hot cup of coffee.
‘Hell shit! I'll be damned!’ I cursed even loudly.
“Language Callie! Language!” My mom yelled at me and I hissed more before dabbing off the stains from the table and placing my hand under running water to dampen the burning sensation.
“We're gonna be late for school Callie, hurry up!” A female voice called out from outside.
I grabbed my backpack, threw it on my back and sprinted out of the house, waving my mom and baby brother goodbye. I got into a car and shut the door behind me.
“You're early today princess.”
“Shut up and drive Xyla!” I snickered.
Xyla chuckled and ignited the car engine, driving away from the hood. “You look hurt, boy are you in a mood today!”
“I burnt my hand with hot coffee, how stupid can that be?” I complained bitterly and she laughed at me. I threw her a friendly punch and she chuckled, we both laughed and gisted all the way down to school.
She pulled over at the parking lot and we both got out, luckily; we got to school ten minutes early. Barely had we stepped foot in the building that we were surrounded by other girls.
“Hi Xyla, it's nice to see you back in school.”
“Your hair looks beautiful.”
“You've changed your car?”
“You look refreshed!”
I smiled bitterly, seeing that all the attention was on her but she grabbed my arm and drew me closer, sending off a subtle message that I was with her and the girls frowned, seeing this and made some lame excuse before leaving.
“It's good to be back at school, isn't it?” I asked her, rhetorically.
“C'mon Callie, we just resumed a new semester, cheer up!” Xyla advised me as we walked towards our classroom. We have the same classes this semester so we're going to be basically inseparable.
“If it isn't my fairy princess.”
We looked up to see Tyler, a teenager around our age, jet black hair, slick kicks, a decent outfit and a face to die for approach us. He wrapped his hands around Xyla’s waist and kissed her fully on the lips.
“Tyler.” She moaned against his lips.
I chuckled embarrassedly and excused myself, going into the classroom.
“Hi Cal, looking hot!” Tyler shouted after me and I acknowledged him with a gentle nod. He's Xyla's mate and ever since they realized this last year, they've been madly in love.
I got to my seat and sat down quietly. There were other students gossiping and bragging about their holidays and whatnot and I rolled my eyes, repulsed.
“If it isn't Calliope, Xyla's personal servant. What are you doing here? Haven't your scholarship ended?” A tiny and irritatingly high-pitched voice mocked.
I looked up to see Thalia, dressed up like a doll with Melissa and Rivera standing right behind her, they laughed at her stupid joke and I rolled my eyes at them.
“Go away Thalia, I don't want trouble.” I warned her, lowly.
“Oh, the poor girl doesn't want any trouble, where did you get your clothes? Isn't it the same ones you wore last semester? So last season.” Thalia insulted, loudly. This drew the attention of other students and they laughed at me.
“Go away.” I muttered.
She brought out a bottle of perfume and sprayed it around me, emptying the entire bottle as if I were stinking. “That's better, this place smells less of lowlifes,”
They were all laughing and I fought the urge to bang her head into the table but she was Thalia Flinch, daughter of Alpha Flinch, the infamously ruthless and powerful alpha of the north, insanely wealthy and shady, it would be like digging my own grave.
“Please, leave me alone.” I whispered as I began to flip through the pages of my note. She suddenly grabbed my bag and rummaged through it. I tried taking it but her minions blocked me.
“That doesn't belong to you! Give it back!” I yelled in despair as she got a hold of my diary, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Give it back to her Thalia!” A familiar voice commanded.
Xyla walked in, red-faced and angry. She looked at me apologetically and frowned at Thalia. “What do you think you're doing?”
Thalia snickered, though she was a powerful figure in school, Xyla also had a pretty strong reputation and backing, they never agreed on a thing as Xyla is my best friend and always stood up for me when Thalia strikes.
“The pauper's best-friend is here. It's nice to see that she hasn't rubbed off her ill-luck on you, you should hang out with people on your level, people like me.” Thalia said, shamelessly.
Xyla hissed loudly. “You're way beneath me Thalia and you know that.”
Thalia got angry and opened the diary, reading through the pages. “Dear diary, I am so ashamed of myself today, I could barely afford a pair of new shoes and had no choice than to wear the ones Xyla lovingly gave to me..”
Embarrassed, tears rolled down my face, she was reading out my thoughts. Xyla was pissed and she tried to retrieve the diary but the minions did a good job of blocking her as well.
“I can't help but feel suicidal knowing that I am adopted and never knew who my real parents are…” Thalia continued, laughing as she read it out loudly.
“Give it back!” I cried in horror but no one listened.
“Didn't you hear her? Give the damn book back!” Xyala thundered and lunged against her, she grabbed Thalia's hair but Thalia was able to wriggle free and got a hold of me instead.
“Hands off or you'll regret it!” A male voice thundered.
It was as if the entire world paused because we all froze and turned out heads to look at the direction of the voice. A boy tall and handsome well with his hands tucked into his pocket, a frowned plastered on his face and murderous intent walked in.
He looked at me and I could swear that he smiled briefly then turned to face Thalia. “Didn't you hear what I said? Get your filthy hands off!” He snapped.
Thalia immediately let go and I could see that she was scared, she began to chuckle nervously.
“I wasn't doing anythi-.” She stammered but he shut her up with a deadly glare.
“Are you alright?” He asked me and I almost dropped dead. Me? I could feel Thalia's death glare bore into my skin.
“M-me-me?” I stuttered.
He clicked his tongue, snatched the diary from Thalia and handed it over to me, however, he drew me closer and hugged me intimately. “Nice to see you again Callie, God! You smell heavenly.” He whispered into my ears.
Thalia almost buried herself underground and he casually walked over to Xyla and pinched her nose while she stuck out her tongue at him.
“What took you so long? You know how to make an entry don't you?” Xyla threw at him, playfully.
He opened his mouth to speak but a teacher walked in and we all scurried to our seats. He walked up to the teacher who had a huge smile plastered on her face.
“Good morning and welcome back to school students, you have a new classmate and he'll introduce himself to you.” Mrs Salvatore uttered.
“I'm Xandros Xavier.” He introduced, briefly.
There were murmurs and gasps. The name sounded familiar to me and I could swear I've seen him before. I was lost in my thought and looked up to see him pointing at me then walking over.
Alerted, I almost froze as he sat on the seat beside me. I looked at him and he gave me a
ghost of a smile which is when it finally dawned on me who he was. “Xandros!” I gasped. He is Xyla's twin brother
Calliope's POV “Do you think this dress would look good on me?” Xyla asked for the umpteenth time that morning.I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “Xyla, you've worn a thousand dresses already, this one is just fine!”“I want it to be perfect for Tyler, who knows, he might just ask me to marry him!” She squeaked.I laughed softly. “Yes, we know you're both in love and the next thing to do after high school is getting married.”“Xandros might declare it publicly that you're his mate too, you should dress nice.” She dropped the bombshell and my eyes widened in shock.“What?” I blurted.“You think you can hide it from me but I've seen it since the first day he got back, he's never nice to anyone, not even me so when he stood up for you, I knew something was up. My doubts were confirmed after I saw you always blushing whenever his around and he lights up around you as well, it's not hard to figure out.” Xyla explained.I blushed and tried to deny her allegations. “It's not that.”“Yes i
Xandros’ PovFour years, for four years have I left the city to study overseas. Apparently, being the heir had more problems to the title and for four years have I not set eyes on her. She was little and timid when I left, too young to know the impact of what was happening, too cute and innocent to realize that me gently patting her on the head wasn't because I was bullying her neither was it to spite my twin sister. It was the only chance I could get to sniff in her scent and hold on to that remembrance of her and every painful day is a reminder that she needs to be protected, so when I had to chance to return, I went against my father's wishes of being homeschooled and enrolled in the same school as her.It was barely a week yet I was engrossed in the beautiful woman she has grown to be. “What the hell did you do to her Xandros? Did you break her? She barely said anything after she went towards your room's direction.” Xyla accused me as I stepped into the living room.My eyes fell
Calliope's POV If looks could kill, I would be most definitely dead by now because not only Thalia but other girls in class stabbed me over a million times in their minds as Xandros chose to sit beside me. Thalia raised her hand.“Yes, Miss Flinch?” The teacher acknowledged her.“Can you appoint Xandros to sit with me instead?” She requested, arrogantly.“And why is that?” Mrs Salvatore questioned.“He's new and doesn't know how things work around here, besides I want him to sit with me and not some dirty smelling lowclass dirt bag.” She insulted me openly.Mrs Salvatore looked at me apologetically and I smiled weakly at her, I knew she had no choice, Thalia's father is the biggest shareholder of the school itself.“My father would approve of anyone who makes his daughter's teaching environment more conducive.” Thalia added, a subtle hint of bribery.“Mr Xavier, if you would-”“No.” Xandros interjected and Thalia was taken aback.“No?” Thalia repeated.“I'd like to stay here ma'am, I
