"This isn't the real Moonstone!""Nonsense!" Elder Thorne frowned, but I could see he had doubts too.

My trembling fingers touched the stone again. Still dead, no life to it at all.

"Father's Moonstone has warmth, an energy pulse," I insisted. "This is just a plain rock."

At the doorway, Cassidy suddenly dropped to her knees, sobbing.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" Her tears fell like broken pearls. "It's my fault!"

"I just wanted to pray for Rachel's blessing," she stammered. "Last night, I snuck in, wanting to burn some blessing herbs on the Moonstone… and then… then I accidentally knocked over the altar. The Moonstone shattered!"

"The Moonstone cannot be shattered," old Elder Iris stated flatly.

"But it did! It broke!" Cassidy cried even harder. "I was scared of being punished, so I… I replaced it with a normal stone, planning to confess when Rachel got back."

Rhys immediately rushed forward to help Cassidy up. "Look what you've done!"

I almost laughed. "What I've done?"

"An Alpha's Moonstone is incredibly hard. How could it break so easily?" Rhys's eyes were like daggers. "I think you planned all along to fob us off with a fake for the trial. The real one is probably hidden away, ready to be gifted to Harris!"

Pain and fury washed over me. I stood up, staggering towards Rhys.

"How dare you… accuse me like that?"

"Isn't it true?" Finn sneered from the side. "You've already betrayed the pack."

"Me, betray them?" I laughed, a harsh, angry sound. "I risked my life to pass your trial, while you two were plotting to murder me!"

"What do you mean?" Elder Thorne asked gravely.

"The Venom-Mist Spiders," I said, looking around. "They don't belong in our forest. Someone lured them into the cave, the day before my trial."

Cassidy's eyes flickered, but she quickly composed herself. "Rachel, the poison has affected you. You're talking nonsense."

"I heard them," I said, the words pained. "Finn and Cassidy, waiting at the cave entrance for my body."

"Ridiculous!" Finn snapped. "Elders, she's clearly brain-damaged from the toxins."

Cassidy stood up, her eyes glinting with a coldness. "Perhaps Rachel is trying to cover up her own crime. She deliberately lost the Moonstone to prevent it from falling into our hands, so she could offer it to her future Alpha."

My eyes widened, "You—"

Elara suddenly burst in. "The Moonstone has a tracking spell! The Elders can sense its presence!"

Right, how could no one have thought of that? Every Alpha put a tracking spell on their Moonstone in case it was lost.

"The tracking spell," I clung to this lifeline. "Elders, please, sense the Moonstone's location."

The Elders hesitated. If they really used the tracking spell, the lies would have nowhere to hide.

Seeing my determined gaze, Elder Thorne finally nodded.

After a long wait…

"No response," Thorne finally opened his eyes, his voice low. "The Moonstone… it really isn't here."

"Try widening the range," I urged.

The Elders tried again, this time expanding their senses to the entire pack territory.

"There's a faint sense…" Elder Iris said suddenly. "But it's very faint, like something's blocking it."

"Which direction?" I pressed.

"North. Deep in the forest."

The direction of Cassidy's den!

"Search it!" I said firmly.

Rhys stepped in front of me. "You have no authority to give orders."

"If the Moonstone really is there," Finn sneered, "I bet you hid it yourself. After all, you were the only one in the forest last night."

"I was fighting for my life in that cave last night!" I roared, feeling my wounds tear, warm blood seeping out.

"Enough!" Elder Thorne's sharp voice cut through the noise. "This isn't over. We will continue to investigate. But right now, Rachel needs treatment."

Rhys reluctantly moved aside, but he leaned close to my ear and whispered, "You'd better accept reality. In three days, you're leaving. Take your lies and your guilt, and get out of the Silver Moon Pack forever."

I felt a wave of dizziness.

"Seeing as you're about to leave," he announced loudly, "we'll let this go. Harris's party will be here in three days to collect you. Try not to bring shame on the Silver Moon Pack."

The Elders ordered someone to take me back to my den for treatment. Elara followed close behind.

"I believe you," she said softly. "We'll find the truth."

But who else would believe me? The whole pack thought I'd stolen the Moonstone, maybe even broken it, just to stop it from falling into other hands.

That night, I walked to the edge of the territory, to a quiet clearing. My father's grave.

"Dad," I knelt before the grave, tears streaming down my face. "What am I going to do?"

I took out the fake Moonstone and the tattered Silver Fern, carefully burying them in front of the headstone.

"I will get the real Moonstone back," I whispered, making a promise. "I will clear your daughter's name."

Suddenly, a slight noise came from the bushes. I froze, every muscle tensing.

"Who's there?" I hissed, feeling the energy to shift welling up inside me, ready to turn wolf.

A pair of eyes lit up in the darkness, like two burning rubies.

Shadow-fang wolves!

"You're early?" I said, trying to sound calm.

"Just scouting, future Luna," a deep male voice came from the shadows. "Alpha Harris sent me to ensure your safety."

"Ensure my safety?" I scoffed. "Too late for that."

"We know what happened," he said calmly. "The Venom-Mist Spiders in the cave. The stolen Moonstone."

I stared at him, shocked. "You've been watching me?"

"The evidence is clear," the elder announced. "The stolen Moonstone, the potion to lure venom-mist spiders, the humiliating pictures... all evidence points to one person.""You think you can judge me?" Cassidy sneered. "Without me, you'd still be fawning over this weakling who doesn't deserve to be an Alpha's daughter!"The crowd murmured."Quiet!" Thorne barked. "Do you admit your crimes?""Crimes? I only did what you didn't have the guts to do! The Silver Moon Pack needs strength, not some useless person living off her father's reputation!"I remained silent. Her words couldn't hurt me anymore."I heard her admit everything myself," Rhys stepped forward to testify. "She set the cave trap, spread the pictures, stole the Moonstone... and used us to hurt Rachel.""Traitor!" Cassidy spat. "Don't act innocent! You're the ones who pushed her to that monster from the Shadow Pack!"Harris's fingers tapped on the armrest of his stone chair, but he stayed silent. His anger was almost a physica

Rachel’s POV"What are you thinking about?" Harris suddenly appeared behind me.I didn't turn, my gaze still fixed on the distant mountains. "Fate.""Do you regret leaving the Silver Moon Pack?" He came to stand beside me, so close I could feel his warmth."Even knowing everything, I wouldn't have stayed," I said without hesitation."Why?"I turned to look at him, the moonlight outlining his strong profile. "Because it's not home anymore. But here...""Will be your home," he said, his fingers gently touching my cheek. "I promise.""The rumors say all your mates met with misfortune," I looked him straight in the eye. "Is that true?"Harris's eyes turned cold. "Lies. I've never had a mate.""But everyone says—""A rumor I spread myself," he cut me off, "to deter those who only sought an alliance for power."The truth hit me. "I was waiting for my true Mate."A tenderness flickered in his eyes. "Waiting for you."The sound of hurried footsteps interrupted us. A warrior ran up, kneeling on

Rhys's POV"Are you sure this is the right thing to do?" Finn sat beside me, his voice low."We don't have a choice," I snapped, my hands clenched into fists. "Rachel leaving is for the best.""But what if the Alpha of the Shadow Pack hurts her? Those rumors...""That's the path she chose," I said, hardening my heart, but a dull ache throbbed in my chest. The door to the Elder's Council chamber opened. Thorne stepped out. "The council has decided to nominate you as the next Alpha candidate, Rhys.""I won't disappoint the pack.""The ceremony requires the Moonstone. Find it."After the elder left, Finn sighed. "What do we do? No one knows where the Moonstone is.""I know who might. Let's go."We headed straight for Cassidy's cottage. The door was slightly ajar, and we could hear voices from inside."You really went to the cave?" a female voice asked."Of course," Cassidy replied. "I had to make sure the spider trap worked."Finn and I exchanged a look and crept closer."Is that stone re

The next day, I saw an incredible sight—Harris sparring with three warriors at once. His movements were like flowing water, so fast they were almost a blur."The Alpha's strength is legendary," Nyx, a handmaiden beside me, explained. "He never needs to shift during training."Harris noticed me and signaled the warriors to stand down. He walked over, his upper body bare, muscles clearly defined, sweat glistening in the sunlight."Sleep well?" He grabbed a towel to wipe off the sweat."Better than I expected.""I have a surprise for you today. But first, my warriors have a discovery to report."A black-clad warrior appeared silently, kneeling on one knee. "There's progress in the investigation of the pictures.""Speak.""The pictures definitely came from Cassidy. The technical support came from outside the pack—a wandering sorcerer.""Continue." Harris's eyes were sharp."We found this in a hidden room in Cassidy's dwelling." The warrior handed over a small, faintly glowing vial. "It's b

"Curious?" Harris's voice came from behind me, his warm chest against my back."It's different from the rumors," I admitted, looking at the dense forest ahead. He chuckled. "Rumors. Always exaggerated lies."Up ahead, the mist in the valley parted, revealing a black stone fortress. The massive complex was built into the mountainside, towering into the clouds, with torches lighting up the walls like stars in the night sky."Welcome to your new home, Luna."In the fortress square, many werewolves were waiting. They watched me, a mix of curiosity and caution in their eyes.A silver-haired old man with one blue eye and one green eye stepped forward. "Welcome back, Alpha. Welcome, future Luna."Harris jumped off the panther and then lifted me down. The brief moment of closeness made my heart race."This is Elder Vex," Harris introduced. "Head Elder of the Shadow Pack, and my mentor."Vex studied me carefully. "The Alpha has chosen a true Mate. Moon Goddess be praised.""Moon Goddess be prai

I held my breath as the knight vaulted off the panther. Head to toe in black armor, he radiated power.Rhys stepped in front of me, his hand resting on his sword hilt. "Alpha Harris. I didn't expect you to come in person."The man didn't answer, just slowly took off his helmet.A gasp rippled through the crowd. I froze too.The Shadow Pack's Alpha wasn't scarred and terrifying like the stories said. He was breathtakingly handsome—sharp features, eyes as deep and dark as a blue-black abyss, and black hair that cascaded to his shoulders."I'm here for my Luna." His voice was deep, a rumble that vibrated right through me."Of course," Rhys said with a fake smile, but he didn't move. "First, allow me to show you the Silver Moon Pack's goodwill."He pulled Cassidy forward. "This is the purest Omega in our pack. She'll attend to your Luna's every need."Harris didn't even glance at her. His eyes went past Rhys and locked onto me. The possessiveness in his gaze was so strong it was suffocatin
