27 - To Live Outside Pack

Katara's POV

We arrived at Santina's place late.

We walked several miles that my knees began to buck. Santina had continued to walk in front of us, impassive to my plight, until Kai had offered to carry me.

"You've been grunting and sighing, Katara…what's wrong?"

He asked tenderly, once again, laying bare his tender side before me.

"My feet hurts. I feel dizzy and might not be able to walk any further.”

I said nonchalantly, expecting Santina to stop walking ahead and show concern but she didn't.

"We have to get to Santina's tribe. We have to be safe before we stop, please, endure a little more and we'll be there soon."

He said as a matter of fact. He was certain we would be there soon and it amused me despite my state, my tiredness and frustration.

"Santina has not said we would be there soon. She's hardly spoken about the journey ahead.” I stated. “How do you know what you talk about? Besides, you've never seen or heard about her tribe.”
