Perhaps Madam called for a maid whilst we slaves were away. I do not dwell too much on the mystery. I have too many mysteries to solve already.

Above all else, I am simply grateful that at least work has been done.

It is good, for I fear I am not focused enough to get much done today.

My mind is plagued by many things.

•|•|•The Hunt will purge the land of rebellion so that a new reign may prosper.•|•|•[SHADE SHADOWS]I tug the strings of the human's dress, looping them into a perfect bow. Her frail body is steadier after the meal, and her bath has made her look much less depleted. She sits on her knees, hands in her lap, staring ahead at the sun's light peeping through the window in the servants' quarters, quiet."All done," I state, getting to my feet. I offer her a hand she takes, standing up and examining her full attire—a plain white sheet, shaped into a dress. Still, she certainly looks better than before. I can see the softness in her eyes and the beauty that once was.I smile kindly, "Perfect."Her lips curve and her cheeks turn to a light blush."Madam Catherine,""Madam Catherine's here," the slaves gasp, their hushed whispers suddenly filling the quarters. My gaze flashes forward, as the other slaves move toward the front."W-What's happening?" the human asks. She looks bewildered. I

•|•|•There she comes! See how the dark days cease? A mate for one, a savior for us all. •|•|•[Kayos Adren Prime]Tucked away behind countless rows and aisles, I work quietly, a calm silence around me. A pristine comfort, warmth I revel in. Focused, I straighten piles of books beneath the dull flicker of candlelight. Silver rings gleaming beneath the yellow glow. Alchest scampers by shifting down the endless rows of books neatly stacked in piles down the wide oak table. I had long completed the task that Shade had set before me, yet I found myself entranced with work, willfully wasting the night away between aisles, piling, stacking—unable to stop. Unable? My lips press thinly, a shallow breath barely escaping.Yes, unable. For if I did—if it ended…My chest grows heavy, jaw tightening. I could not allow it. To not have an excuse to stay....No. I cannot leave. Not yet. For with every breath I take, Shade's scent invades me—an amber musk, lavender, sweet—hypnotic. I confes

•|•|• And when you see a child of light, kiss her feet, for her hands bless. The sick are healed, crops grow, and sorrow is turned to joy. •|•|• [SHADE SHADOWS] The human walks beside me, bucket in hand as we cross the night by the lamp of the other slaves. My gaze shifts down to the girl. Her lips are pressed tightly, bucket clutched to her chest and she walks solemnly. Numb. Though she remains as close to my side as is possible. Images of my dream echo: the boy, Silas, the ship, the creature. My own hands shake, and I grip my bucket tighter, taking out a shallow breath. Her words, I could not save him. My dream. It could not be. Not what I think. It's simply not- not possible. Unless it is. My gaze rises to the outline of the sun on the far horizon and for a second I see her. The girl on the ledge, her eyes as numb as the human. She turns to me, and then simply falls. A shaky breath escapes me, just as a gentle hand rests on my shoulder. I glance

The shock, the curiosity. It echoes in the eyes of all the slaves that surround us. I can not move, not even an inch, my knees are locked together in the arms of the human who refuses to let go. Her sobs are quieter now, but her whimpering is yet to cease.Vales's eyebrows rise in confusion. In turn, I am at a loss for words. I do not understand what is happening. The slaves quiet to the sounds of the weeping girl, staring at the sight before them. I know the questions that cross their minds—they are my own as well—but I do not have the answers.Haven is the first to speak, relieving the tension."Of course she'd identify her own kind," she laughs, her eyes dance in humour, "Wolfless beings flock together," she huffs, "it is a curse of which they share.""Better her than I," Idah mumbles, she pinches her no

My heart floats as I watch him standing across me from the other end of the long Master's table. Calmly piling books over each other, and straightening the lines, the master remains focused entirely on his task. The silver around his fingers gleams in the candlelight, and his dark hair shines, outlined by the red that peaks through his obsidian curls.Thump. There it goes—my unruly heart. Kayos. His name is Kayos. Thump. My heart flutters softly within me, as my eyes map his strong features.Diane hops into view on the wooden tabletop, the movement making me lose focus. I am taken slightly aback by her beady eyes staring at me, head-cocking to the side. I feel as though I am being scolded. Funny, yes, but I swear the bird seems to be reprimanding me for my careless thoughts, my open staring,
