I moved my head slightly, the movement becoming smaller and smaller, making it hard to tell whether I was agreeing or disagreeing. The living room was lit by a single dim spotlight, casting a warm, drowsy glow on the distant floor.

Alexander held me in a crouch, not moving. My warm breath penetrated his thin shirt, landing on his chest and making his heart feel tender.

"How about sleeping inside? The floor is cold..." His voice was gentle as his long fingers brushed aside the hair at my temple, tucking it behind my ear.
